Having a cup of Cafe con Leche is fantastic way to start off your day!! This traditional recipe is full of flavor and it will kick start your day-- ENJOY!!
I loved this video! I love how clean and presentable your kitchen is, I love how you clearly am patiently explained everything, and I loved the cup you served the coffee in! Extraordinary!
There is nothing quite like coming home from a long day on the construction job, taking off your work boots and socks and taking one of those 'ripe' socks into the kitchen to make a ROBUST and AROMATIC cup of Café con Leche! It is coffee TO DIE FOR!
I MAKE MY COFFEE LIKE THIS EVERYDAY ,, AND I GET LAUGHED AT.. THEY CALL MY STRANNER MY DIRTY SOCK.. BUT AFTER THEY DRINK IT,, THEY CANT GET ENOUGH..LOL
Growing up, all my non-PR friends asked at least once why we had a dirty sock hanging on our kitchen wall. And every Puerto Rican I ever tell that story to had the same exact experience. Seriously though, there is NO BETTER WAY to brew a cup of coffee than with a "Puerto Rican Coffee Sock".
But this isn't the way to do it. Done the traditional way there is nothing better! Family gather, big production in the kitchen, had to be poured three times and poured back n forth with the milk. Gotta have bubbles he would tell me. Loved every part of it. What i love is its so strong you only need one cup. I miss them, wonderful people.
Brings back memorys growing up in my puerto rican household except my cafe sock was super stained from the coffee lol the house always smelled better then starbucks lol
One whiff of cafe bustello made the old fashioned way can transport me back to my childhood. Great memories are wrapped up in the long forgotten, cold New York mornings and cafe con leche was unacknowledged star. Nowadays many are searching for originality in fancy and lengthy coffee concoctions. Old school coffee did not need fancy dressings-- it stood in the spotlight of simplicity.
Yea stovetop cafe con leche is so great. Really brings out that boldness. I use more milk because I like my coffee lighter. I step it up to 1/2 cup of milk
@dureyes How did you ever guess that I'm boriqua??? LOL... Of course this was one of the most pleasant parts of my daily life. I'm sure you can remember the smell of cafe as you were waking up from a sound sleep.. what a way to welcome the morning??? Hope you enjoy it...
I'm an American , but that's what I thought also. So few people educate themselves these days. I was in Puerto Rico last month, and I just LOVE cafe con leche. Gracias P R .
As this woman was ruining what would have otherwise been a delicious cup of Cafe con Leche with hew New Yawk accent, I was searching desperately for a near by high rise building from which to hurl myself off of or a crowded bus under which I could throw myself in order to STOP the torture on my virgin ears. There ought to be a law.....GOOD GRIEF!

My grandmother left Ponce back in the 1920's and this is the recipe she brought with her. Sock and all !Thanks for the reminder.

I am glad I have this video to always assist me to make it perfect. Just like Grandma made. Thanks.
Wow!! The way my mom use to make coffee :)
That was awesome, Vicky!
I loved the added Gran Combo de PR music, as well as the use of the old Colador -- old school style! :D
Weeepppaaa!

This isn't just PR households. Believe me that my Cuban parents used the "dirty sock" as well. Tho we use evaporated milk.
love the video
You're supposed to use evaporated milk and a pinch of of salt in there thats real cafe con leche
You know what's up
Hell no to the salt

Your NYC accent!!!! Love it
Ty! Yes, I am a New Yorker.😊
I just tried it... IGUAL QUE EL DE ABUELA!!! :D
I should try this. Kind of a lot of work to make just one cup though, :)).
Thank you for the share .
Wohooo!...como mi abuela lo hacia
What kind of coffe that usually use ?
Probably Bustelo.
so is Cafe con Leche different than Cafe Cubano?
TheRmill3r yes totally, Cafe Cubano is actually just pure espresso brew in a pressure pot like the Moka pot coffee maker and it has a ton more sugar.
I have been making these every day since watching in the heights 😹
Well, don't get dizzy up there.
Muy rico
Instead of a colador, I use one of those one cup cone coffee makers that sits on top of a coffee cup.
Ven devorame otra veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez!
buen trabajo!
A glass of hot milk add some coffee that’s it
Thx
Is it kinda too much work for a cup of coffee 😙?
Madrid is fuuuuunn
cup of cafe con leche?
I got a cafetera, now I can see I need a colador.
Eso es mucho trabajo
I tried this Pero the milk burnt to the bottom of my sauce pan.
Where can I get that strainer?
shandalee04 Amazon actually !
With cinammon
Good idea!
same here why use water. I warm my milk up and use instant coffee taste so much better and you dont need any strainer
n Mo instant coffee is really harmful for your health. Please look it up.
Cant do instant tastes terrible to me.
this is the hard way and takes waaaay too long
hey Vicky,
i got a quick question for you what is your nationally (purican or cubin) i here a accent coming out of your video
Muy complicado para mi. Me gusta mas con una cafetera.
It's not expresso, it's espresso.
I'm an American , but that's what I thought also. So few people educate themselves these days. I was in Puerto Rico last month, and I just LOVE cafe con leche. Gracias P R .
Fuck that i just use milk and coffe and sugar lool
Idiot
You lost me at expresso...it’s espresso...smh
Sorry this is time consuming, much easier way is use a espresso maker, boil milk in saucepan.same results.
Lady, you made "Cowboy coffee", NOT cafe con leche!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
