round one 1. magic ring 2. chain 3 + 2 double crochets into ring 3. chain 2 4. repeat four more times (two chains at end to keep pattern, then slip stitch) round two 1.chain 6 2. working down the chain, skip first chain next to hook, single crochetet second chain from hook 3. half double crochet into next chain 4. double crochet into next chain 5. treble crochet into next 6. another treble crochet into last chain 7. in chain two gap space, make slip stitch, repeat around
Have you tried doing this with a magic circle instead of chaining 4? I tried it and it works wonders. there isn't a gap in the center of the star. All you would have to do is pull the center string tight to close that gap. ^^ Just a helpful tip.
I tried a magic circle and used it in a puff flower granny square blanket. It took weeks to do the blanket and when finished I started to notice the centre of my puff flower was untangling!!! That was 4 years ago and I was so put off crochet until this year when I started it up again. It was soul destroying seeing all my work untangle!! I stick to chain 4 and slip stitch. I now know I’m not the only one this has happened to so I thought I would leave this here for all you new magic circle folks. Please check and firmly tie off your circle at the end of your completed work to avoid disaster!!! Take care folks and happy crafting❤
Thank you so much for teaching me how to create a slipnot I've watched millions of videos on how to specifically make a slipnot and not a single on worked. Thank you soooo much
Wow you make it so simple and understanding - I also like that you use the red yarn against the gold hook makes it easier on the eye to see what you are doing. I was trying to make a star with another pattern that was so complicated. thank you thank you!!!!!
Thank you! This is a great tutorial. Easy to watch, easy pace, easy to see the gold hook versus the red yarn. This also feels like a good tutorial for all of the crochet stitches because they're all done in order over and over. Saving this for future reference!
Thank you, I’ve been wanting to do a navy and cream granny square blanket that has an American feel, to remind me off my travels to America and have been looking for something that looks like a barn star. Seems stars are hard to come by so I appreciate this so much. Thanks for sharing ❤
This helped so much! I came here looking for an easier pattern for my flag blanket and you delivered! These are sooo much easier and faster to complete. I did make them a bit smaller by using half double crochets instead of double crochets and omitting one treble crochet for each point. They're coming out perfect, thank you!!
Thank you so much for this fantastic tutorial. I'm in the UK but I learn to crochet using US terminology. I make baby sets and your stars are the perfect addition to the hats. I just use DK or light Worsted weight yarn and a smaller hook size. I also make big star blankets to go with the set so the little star on the Hat matches perfectly, thank you so much xxx
I really liked this tutorial without annoying elevator music. Thank you. I am making some in bright pink to sew onto the cancer therapy hats that I'm knitting for donation to the BC Cancer Agency because those youngsters battling cancer are true superstars!
Just a suggestion but at the end of round one instead of chain two and join with slip stitch, try chain one then single crochet into the top of the forst chain three. Thos will eliminate the offset of the first point of the star and put you initial chain stitch coming off the space inplace of the double crochet. This is a ver easy pattern to fllow and now i am off to make 100 of them for my gransonms flag blanket . Thank you❤
I am making these for my Christmas Tree; leave enough of a beginning 'tail' as well as enough of a 'binding off tail'; when you are done the star, weave the beginning 'tail' towards the end binding off 'tail...tie them both together at the top, and now you can hang the star on the tree.
Thanks for explaining so well. I want to make an eight pointed star (four big points with four smaller, Captain Marvel) and now I know how to modify this pattern to do it, since you explained so well.
Thanks for this great tutorial. I used it to make a star out of rainbow loom bands. The star I made is white with an orange slip stitch border and I put the letter H in the center in dark blue for the Houston Astro's logo. I've been looking for a pattern for the bands to do this with and was getting pretty discouraged until I found this tutorial and translated it into a band pattern! I think it came out great. Thanks again!
Thank you so so much for this pattern. As a beginner, your directions were incredibly easy to follow. This star will be perfect for the Americana placemats I'm crocheting!
Thank you! I have a pattern for the Hala star on Captain Marvel's uniform and while I understood how to create the center from the pattern, I had no idea how to do the points. Thank you!
Love the star just made one with you going to make another one and crochet them together with sparkly thread and put it on the top of my small crochet Christmas tree I’m going to put a tutorial up on my channel probably this afternoon if you would like to see it it turned out awesome thank you for doing the crochet star love it ❤️⛄️🎄 ⭐️
THANK YOU! I tried to follow the pattern on a blanket and it was a nightmare.. These Stars are so easy and bigger then the ones I was trying to make...
I really love this! I'm just trying to find a way to make it smaller as I want to put it on a baby bootie. I've tried going down to a 3.75 hook and it's still a bit too big. I was thinking that maybe I could start off by half double crocheting in the beginning, then chaining 5 instead of 6, and leaving out the last treble. Can't hurt to try 😊. Thank you for this video.
Hi, I have seen a few of these stars crochet into a hexagon or into squares to be used for blankets and really want to see them made into blankets. I want to make mine into a round one. I have found the odd one or 3 but most of the time they either don't have words or the pattern or don't make sense and that is why I'm bringing my problem to you as I know you could work it out if you didn't already know. So a little help would be terrific please and a video even better. Thanks for all that you show us
can you do a tutorial on how to turn this star into a granny square? I am wanting to make a Dallas Cowboys blanket for my brother in law but I can't find anything that is in English or actually shows you what to do . Thanks for a really nicely done star...some are not so straight..lol
Thank you! So easy to follow. My points are coming out a bit wonky... The right edge (chain stitch) is always a bit shorter than the left and I've tried so many times but I still can't get it perfect. Any tips?
round one
1. magic ring
2. chain 3 + 2 double crochets into ring
3. chain 2
4. repeat four more times (two chains at end to keep pattern, then slip stitch)
round two
1.chain 6
2. working down the chain, skip first chain next to hook, single crochetet second chain from hook
3. half double crochet into next chain
4. double crochet into next chain
5. treble crochet into next
6. another treble crochet into last chain
7. in chain two gap space, make slip stitch, repeat around
You’re a G

💩 P 💩 look 💩
would you do a magic circle of four?

I’d much rather chain than use the magic circle. I think it’s a matter of preference.
Thank you so much for teaching me how to create a slipnot I've watched millions of videos on how to specifically make a slipnot and not a single on worked. Thank you soooo much
Thank you for sharing and teaching us how to crochet the star . Very pleasant to watch and learn .

I made the star for a bag I was crocheting, it fit perfectly

Thank you so much. Friends are having a baby boy with a Dallas Cowboy themed nursery. I will attach the gray stars to a navy blanket, thanks to you!
Thank you! This is actually the first tutorial that I have been able to get it right in one shot!

Great presentation. You also have a great voice for voice overs. Very pleasant to listen to.

Can this be done to make a baby blanket?
Is okay to us3 an size F hook for the stars for the flag afghan. 3.25 or D is too small for me to deal with.
Thank you! So easy to follow. My points are coming out a bit wonky... The right edge (chain stitch) is always a bit shorter than the left and I've tried so many times but I still can't get it perfect. Any tips?
awesome thank you!! I'm making my stars for an American flag hat
Thank you. What is saturated water?
Saturate it with water, not saturated water 🙃 Just give it a good soak before you pin it down.
