Manek Iridius clearly you haven’t looked into why they are mad.
The PM took a holiday during the start of this, and when things were getting particularly bleak, he tried to say sports would keep everyone’s mind off the issue.
That’s on top of the fact that people in the sector have tried for years to take preventative measures, worrying that another wildfire like this would occur, like it did over a decade ago. Green initiatives have prevented land clearing and underbrush culling, protecting plants in those groups for being “carbon sinks”. Firebreaks to protect homes cost residents hundred of thousands in fines, yet those homes often remain after the inferno.
You can be green but still listen to people who’s living this is. Over a decade of repeated attempts to take preventative measures, and none of the politicians listened.
It’s not just anger. There might be reasoning behind it. Don’t dismiss without research. Even if he’s full on green, the PM messed up in multiple personal, non political ways on top of that

@Brit Mk 2 if Morrison hadn't removed the majority of funding from firefighters and ignored their warnings; mother nature would've been able to laugh as long as she wanted, without all those carcinogens pouring into her lungs.
Yes he's not directly responsible for every single fire-based catastrophe we currently endure or every bureaucratic cock-up, yes state governments are also to blame, but his incompetence as a leader has greatly diminished our ability to fight those fires.
The fact most of our firefighters are expected to work pro gratis, without vital equipment such as respirators, in such hostile conditions is truly insulting, they are trying to fight these fires and protect what remains of the states affected, yet they've been severely inconvenienced as a result of Morrison's blunders, each little negligent choice he's made has cost us human lives.
And honestly it would've been somewhat easier to forgive him for all that, if he didn't abandon the country in the middle of said crisis, it's like he doesn't even understand the symbolic nature of a leadership role, it's one thing to be an imbecile, but leaving the country to go on holiday in the middle of a national crisis; well it's simply a callous and feckless betrayal.
He doesn't even care about the country or the people. Nobody's going to magically put a stop to these fires, but it's not wrong for people to feel insulted by that kind of carelessness, even if there's nothing practical he can actually do; he should at least be the trustworthy down-to-earth figurehead he kept making himself out to be during elections.

DIVI FILIVS you just proved my point.
Further, this is the issue raised, and thus here is the problem.
Whilst the State based Emergency Services are funded through the ESL (tax), insurers, grants and fundraising (as well as other State Based economic boots); The Federal Government may also deploy its own resources or reimburse the state based services during natural disaster spending, but its direct contribution to the agencies' budgets up until december, was merely 0.4 per cent.
So yes, in a time of imminent and urgent need, it is the Governments fault that the support is lacking at such dire levels. By virtue of leadership, that implies it falls onto ScoMo's shoulders.

I donate to Red Cross and to provide support of the animals which need caring for after suffering injury from these fire. If the tax went up a bit for the reason of paying these heroic volunteers I’d be ok with that. I can imagine you would though, given your comment. @ Ben - I know 3 vollie firefighters who are now in their FOURTH month of working tirelessly for our country. All have given up paid work to slog their guts out in horrific conditions. One has a govt job and thankfully he still gets paid when he is away firefighting. Sadly, the others do not get paid and are losing thousands of $$$ in lost wages. Plus, these vollies are saving our govt from paying out millions of $$ in wages if they refused to volunteer and had to be replaced by professional firefighters. These heroes deserve to be paid well - full stop!
