So happy to help my guy! Cheers!
Hey, that was the issue, finally! Thanks for this explanation man! But do you know that you can batch change the TC instead doing it one by one?
In the Media section > Select all the clips > Open inspector > Clip > Right under the Metadate line, enter the 000000 Timecode and press enter.
real LPT always in the comments. I was looking at hundreds of clips from several days of shooting and was like 'no way I'm about to go one by one'
thankxx bro finally works ... you are amazing
Genius !!
11 months past and you’re still saving lives!
Thank you so much!
Hahah happy to help!
I can subscribe lol, thanks for this
Hey there!
For everyone seeing this, I had the same problem and found a better way to do it.
When you sad the time codes were off, I just selected all my clips in Premiere and went to "right click>modify>interpret footage and then under time code change it all to 0".
If you proceed to export an xml file now to Davinci it should work flawless.
Somebody knows the process for fcpx ?
@ How doe with do this on FCPX?
Hello, I use Premiere and that solution didn't work for me. Because the Sony FX3 clips that present this strange problem, in the premiere they already have the time code at 00.00.00.00, so I don't have any value to change. could you help me a little more? THANKS
Sat here for hours fighting for my life over this and you've just fixed it in mere minutes
Glad I could help!!
THANK YOU!! I was tearing my hair out until I found you. Lifesaver!
Hello!
There is another simple solution that works for me know. I had this problem and I didn't know why I always have that error message. When you go shooting, always format your sd card before a new shoot, do not just erase the footage from the sd and put it in you bin, if you don't format it, it will make trouble when the camera records the files. When you format it before the shooting the new files will be recorded in the good way, and after you will not have this error message! Now it works perfectly for me, and I don't have to change the timecode for each files. I hope it will help people. Have a good day!
DUDE ILY, Still in 2024 still having this issue that is insane

Thank you for your video, but unfortunately, it didn't work for me! :-( More than frustrated, here....
thank you! it was extremely helpful.
Glad I could help!
For doing it in Premiere Pro itself Follow below steps:
Select footage right click>modify>timecode and select original timecode option and under time display format select the fps of the footage for example if the footage is 25fps then select 25fps under time display format and press OK.
Note: sometimes it won't effect while doing the first time in that case repeat once again and it shall effect.
Thank You:)
thank you
Amazing!! Thank you so much!!
You are a freaking genius. Thank you. I'm going to credit you on my film. Shall I credit The Chad Castle?
Hahaha you’re amazing you don’t have to credit me hahaha but if you do just credit the RUclips page or Chadler Castle! You’re awesome!
does anyone know how to do that but in FCPX? I exported a premiere xml and converted to fcpxml through davinci, but when i open this fcpxxml on FCPX it doesnt link the sony files either
I've never done it this way but I'm sure someone has. Can anyone help?

even after finding the clips in the media tab, it still says media not found after finding it..I tried the time code attributes thing you've mentioned, but still the same issue..I recorded in slog3 on my new fx30. I'm using the new resolve 18
hi bro iam having the same issue with the same camera . Have you found a way to fix it?
Thanks you bro! it was really useful
Glad I could help!
Lifesaver!!!!! Thank you so much!!
Glad to help!
Thanks for share
Of course! Happy to help!
For some reason it's not saving the new timecode to 0.0.0.0
I LOVE YOU BRO THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for bringing attention to this issue! I'm having an problem though... when I change the timecode on the first clip, all the missing footage in the timeline gets replaced with that first clip.. all the other clips become that first one.. I can't figure out why.. any thoughts? Thanks
Hmm odd. Are you changing the time codes one by one?
Did you ever figure this out? I’m having the same issue with one clip replacing every edit in the timeline - so it’s just a bunch of the same clip over and over.
hi, i encountering the exact same problem, did u figure out how to solve this issue? Would rlly appreciate the help
Lifesaver, Thanks!
Happy to help man!
LOVE YOU BRO😊😍
Thanks so much for this bro. Was driving me crazy! It still is to an extent - some clips work perfectly like this, but others don't - any idea why?
Is this literally the only way to link footage from an XML? Same issue is happening to me with RedRaw footage. This is kind of ridiculous, but thanks for the fix!
OMG THANK YOU, subbed!
So happy to help! Thank you for the sub!
even doing this the clips are still offline
Hmmm... not sure. Anyone have any solutions?
Did you check if davinci magically turned your clips into compound clips? Because I had this problem. Some clips were okay, other clips were stil offline. Then I noticed that the clips offline were compound clips (even if on final cut they were simple clips) and so I tried to think, squeezing my brain and solved it like this:
1: delete from media page compound clip
2: now, always in media page, you have to do again the process on the clip ( that you imported before ) with the same name of compound clip: Right click ~ clip attributes ~ timecode 0.0.0.0
No matter if you already did it. Do it again 😅
Not sure if i explained well ! Really hope it can help 😊
thats insane bro, thanks a lot
Right! and no problem man, happy to help!
man just saved my life 👌
Glad i could help!
Do you know how to do it with composition ? It didn't work when timeline has some compostions. Thanks a lot !!
super helpful! greetings from Ukraine)
Happy to help! 💙💛

haha glad I could help!
I got the similar problem
when I import FCPXML in Resolve 17 those clips automatically switch from MP4 to MOV
and ...... I dun know what to do
Have you checked the time codes?
how about just straight importing from external drive? running into this issue
I freakin' love you bro!!!!!! thanks!
Hey I am so glad to help! Let me know if you need help with anything else!
Literally did all of that and got nothing.. Any other suggestions?
Not at the moment but i will look in to it!
I'm already fix the unlinked problem but the timecode in davinci project not fix with my timecode in fcpxml file anyone can help me pls? :(
Thank u bro
Thank you man
Absolutely my guy
Is there any way how to change the camera settings so this doesn’t happen? Thanks!
Not that I know of
I'll give this a shot and let you know if it works.
Please do! fingers crossed
thank you very much!!!
Of course let me know if you have any other questions!
THANKS A LOT!! YOU SAVED MY LIFE. JAJAJA not kidding, I really really appreciate.
Glad I could help! :)
I have a worse problem. My selects when exporting to Davinci do not have the .Mp4 anymore and there is no timecode, it is greyed out. If I import the original files in to Davinci they show up but not my selects... Any suggestions? They just show up with the same number as the original file name 00034 for example but with no .mp4 extension.. WTF and Davinci cannot find or read them
Hmm I haven’t had this problem. Does anyone have a solution?
@@thechadcastle For some reason which I cannot figure out my files are being imported into Davinci with out .MP4. I just did a random test and made a new project in FCPX, threw some random clips into the timeline, exported an xml and then imported xml via new timeline in Davinci and the same thing happens. Driving me crazy
@@thechadcastle I got it kind of working. Had to decompose my compound clips in Davinci, then reset the timecode on the corresponding clips in the media pool to 0.0.0.0, then lock conform clip to media pool. Just some rescaling of some clips does not hold in Davinci, but that is not too big of a problem as I can rescale them again. What I need to see is if I need to compound the clips again in Davinci before exporting an XML back to FCPX.
Hey ! Merci tu viens de me sauver la vie ! merci !!!
TE AMO PAPI 🤍
thanks helpful
bro thank you so much
Of course!
Hi Chadler thanks for the informative video although when I use the Replace Selected Clip.. command and then I replace the file with another one in a higher res then the timecodes get reset and if I change them to zero then the clips result in being not connected in that bright red colour. Do you think you would know how to fix that?
Im not sure. Did you color it in a different software?
@@thechadcastle no I didn't. Basically the clip already there is a MP4 at 5mbps and I need to replace that with the original mov at 150mbps. But when I replace it the clip starts from the beginning and if I change the timecodes it gets disconnected.
Any chance we could jump in a meeting so I could show you by chance?
thank you so much
Absolutely!
not wrking this way
Hmm. Whats your exact issue?
I used proxy footage and did a multi-cam edit. when i replaced footage with original sony camera footage it went out of synch. I just went by hand and changed the one camera that was given me issues. this would helped me. I'll know next time!
Its all tricky and the end of the day as long as you get a good result any method works! Glad I could help though!
I tried to do it and I couldn't. the sony images are like 00:00:00;000 and the others 00:00:00:00 I think that's why it doesn't find it, but I couldn't change that format. Would you help me?
hmm im not sure all timecode should start as 00:00:00:00. Do you have the latest version of Davinci?
it’s because ;000 is for any frame rates over 99 so if you shot in 120fps then your timecode would end in ;000
The difference of ;000 and :000 is drop frame and non drop frame as far as I know
Thank you!
Happy to help!
Thanks so much for the info. Its helped me from a wild nighmare.
Would you know how to open xml files straight from PluralEyes?
Thanks for the video. I tried to do the inverse thing, import a XML files in FCP. I export with DaVinci an FCPXML, but in FCP, it"s impossible to link the media files... Someone have any solution ?
hmmm never done it that way. Anyone have a solution?
ill look in to it
Awesome! When I use a repeat clip somewhere else.. it doesn’t show that other section of that clip though. Just the first one in the timeline. Any suggestions?
Did it make a second clip in the project? maybe the time code for that clip got messed up.
@Chadler Castle no it didn’t, and I’ve tried adding two of the same clips into the project but I think they are set at different locations, there for same clip but used at a different time
@@ryanmonks6932 hmm not sure.. if both clips and their timecodes are showing up normal in the project file it should be working. Anyone else have any solutions?
@@thechadcastle I fixed that I believe. But now when I try to change the time code on some in the media pool… they don’t change.
Thanks!
Of course! I am happy to help!
Thank’s a lot! And Do you know why all footages are recorded random timecode?
Is it all about camera settings when that shooting?
My guess is yes. The footage I was using was sent to me by a friend and didn't see how he had his timecode set up in his camera. Its either about the settings when you are shooting or Davinci just has some little bugs. Glad i could help you out though!
I did the same way, but it didnt work. I was recorded on 1080p 120fps with Sony a7s II, all footage are good except 120 fps. Please HELP !!! stucking all day !!!
Im using davinci resolve 18.0.0
Hmmm not sure can anyone else help?
THANK YOU!!!!
THANK YOU
If import pluraleyes XML file into Davinci which has label color on the clips it doesn’t show in Davinci. Please help me out, how I can make those clips label color to show in Davinci.
Select all the clips, right click, uncheck Conform Lock Enabled, then go to Files>Reconform from bins. Now you can select the source folder from your media pool. Done
Davinci fix that? Or there is any fast way to do that?
Not that I know of...
I did everything you did. Still didn't work for me
This didn't work for me. Which version of Davinci are you using?
I believe I was using davinci 16 in this video. What issue are you having?
@@thechadcastle I'm just having the same issue as what's being described in you video. Some Sony files wonts transfer over to Davinci. I literally have to go and find the clip, import it and set the in and out points to add it to the timeline. I'm using the latest version so hopefully it will be address with an update.
@@isaquemoresco I updated to but haven’t had to use it yet. It’s such a hassle. I’ve been talking to some app developers to potentially build a software that could fix the issue or make the process of fixing it less tedious! I’ll make sure to keep you updated
I appreciate that! If it ever comes about, I’d love to know. I think for the most part, as much as I love premiere and am used to it, I’m might start some projects on Davinci so I don’t hit these issues again.
yes its not wrking
Thanks a lot 😂😂😂😂
No problem! Happy to help!
So since your answer rate is on point I have a problem and maybe you know a solution to this.
I filmed with my Sony a7s3 in 4:2:2 and I'm working with davinci free version (at least I'm trying)
So I know you can't import that codec to the free version it only imports the audio. However with the help of ffmpeg and a bat file I was able to convert it to pro res since that's a codec even the free version allows.
But when I follow your steps davinci doesn't seem to be able to link the new converted file even if it has the same name except for the suffix (.mov instead of. mp4) to the clips in the timeline.
hmm i'm not sure about this one. Let me look in to it!
there is no solution here. just imagine you have 1000+ files
just trying to help. better than nothing

Happy to help my guy!
Thank you 🙏
