crop plus speed booster is perfectly fine for photography. In fact the extra stop of light is helpful and I dont find really any reduction in sharpness at least nothing closer to the center. Close to the edges, sure its softer, but thats more noticable if you pixel peep.
I have the R7 and Metabones 0.71x. I use it for photography- mostly wildlife. I use it on my EF 100-400 IS ii L, EF 500 is L (mk1) and EF 28-135. Works great! Gives me a FF equivalent of 110-440 F4 & 550 F2.8! The speedbooster does nothing to reduce image quality because it does not magnify - it reduces. The R7 is my go to because I need the reach. Often have a TC on those lenses. But for low light! I love it. And it makes 1 stop difference in DOF also. It absolutely works for photos
And the 16-35, especially in 2.8 is a good example how good (but also BIG/heavy) it can be. And i had the 16-35 for a while, but with the switch to APS-C i recovered around 500€ including the purchase of a lower end 10-20mm. Its stopped down not too much worse than the 16-35 on FF once and ok enough in fact prefferable: much smaller and lighter!
Getting an R7 + speed booster is not a good alternative to getting a full frame camera. You get a speed booster if you already have an R7 but you wanna start shooting portraits at ff.
I own the Vitrox Speed booster and this is my experience, it does not work with all lenses specially with old ones. You have better chances with L lenses but even with that, for example, the EF100-400 L MII, produces very soft pictures and AF misses 50% of the pictures. I have good results with EF70-200 L f2.8. All those lenses that do not work well with the speed booster perfectly work with the Canon EF-RF adapter.
Hi Dan, Excellent video on the viltrox speed booster' I might be crazy but can I use it or something similar for my Canon 90d' You are probably the best person to ask... Not sure about the 90d but it would be awesome then I can use my samyang 16mm and get that wider fov... Any how great video with great difference in using them, Much wider and more appealing... 73s Dan to you and the family... Stuck at work at moment watching this vid... 😊
I believe that there's nothing like a speed booster that could be used on the Canon 90D..if I bump into something or if someone will tell me otherwise, I'll let you know. That's great you manage to watch videos while at work! Thank you so much! Have a great one!
If you shoot with the same lens, but adapt distance to the subject in order to get the same subject size in the image, then with the speedbooster the DOF looks similar to FF. So a 500F4 on ff - becomes a 350mmF2.8 with the speedbooster. That will look like a 550mm on the CF sensor and have similar DOF to F4 compared to FF, but gather light at F2.8. So you can drop iso one stop and even low light performance between FF and CF I find.
Listen, honey, I can afford it, ordered R6 Mark II but cancel it, when discovered that it cannot record while HDMI is connected , It’s one or other so it is a deal breaker to me , and R8 is trash , R7 have IBIS and 4K , and R5 is 3 Time more expensive than any thing below it … so yah

Hi! Great videos. I have a question about AF in video. Do you see a difference in performance with or without the speedbooster?
Not really, I haven't noticed any difference with or without it. Thanks for watching!
Why not use the r7+speedbooster for photography?

Beautiful🎉
Interesting question, but what about crop camera „native“ on lens vs 1,4x teleconverter on full frame? Thats the real question for most people

I think that speedbooster isn't available in the market right?
Can I use an RF lens (Not EF lens) on this speed booster to reduce the focal length and wider view?
No
Or a Canon EOS RP, that is even cheaper.
So is dof the same as Full Frame?

How about a R7 giveaway 😅
So you want to give away your Canon R7...that's great! When are you planning on doing this give away?
