That WAS the real Osterreichring. The Red Bull edition of it is only a "cheap" version of it for the Formula 1 drivers without balls of today. I'd be very satisfied to ask them what they think of a return of the "Hella Licht" (if they even know what it was...).
@@grandicellichannel The current RBR is one of the most boring tracks in Europe today. At least between 1997-2002 this track still had the gravel traps that caught people out.
This, to me, is where AMS2 shines. It's my go-to for classic racing, mainly because it's one of the few sims that includes really great versions of classic tracks and cars that you simply don't get in other modern sims without going hunting through forums for mods (looking at you, Assetto Corsa). And I enjoy that Reiza are still constantly working on improving the game, it's really come on leaps and bounds in the past year and I'm excited for the release of the Group C cars and the '93 version of Spa somewhen "soon™". And I concur that they need to work on revising the default setups to be actually usable so you can pick any car and just drive without worrying about tuning out miles of oversteer and wobbly-ness. They don't have to be FAST setups, just good enough to not feel wrong when you pick them up.
@the Game, Review and Reallife Channel Busy people who have jobs and families often prefer all-in-one solutions rather than spending hours online to look for mods.
I am NOT in any way knowledgeable about the settings. If GPLaps can set things to where it's realistic, why can't AMS2 devs' (or testers) set all of the cars to things that represent the era they came from? That would make it a lot more immersive for someone just picking up the game.
@the Game, Review and Reallife Channel His post wasn't even about mods. It was about him figuring out how to configure the settings for the cars so that they run realistic to their era, and the dev's (testers) choosing not to do so. Go somewhere else with your console garbage.
If you want to reduce the AI clustering, do a qualifying session. That way the fastest cars won't get held up by slower cars and the AI will spread out more convincingly.

Yesssss! So great to see F1-cars racing the legendary Schoenberg-straight (named after the farm you can see on the left of the track) again. Great work!
I agree with all your comments on AMS2, Jake. I really like the game too, despite the quirks that still need to be ironed out. I found driving the retro F1 cars quite frustrating due to the excessive understeer. I also played a lot with the setups (slight negative toe on the Brabham a-la Grand Prix Legends helped a lot), but I also had to change the rotation on my Fanatec wheel to 640 degrees to get the car to react more realistically. I really love the variety you are offering on your channel... thank you!
This is proper F1. Flowing tracks, simple aero, high airboxes, sideburns, big old fat slicks on the rear, sideburns, wedge noses & sideburns. My favourite era.
Try cranking the AI Aggression right up (100%). In Ams2 aggression mean that the AI notice you and play well together. Sounds glorious the McLaren. I think the racing would be better with the aggression turned up (their driving) Great video thanks.

Murray Walker called them the Texaco Bends on the old BBC broadcast. At one time, they were known simply as Panorama. And yes, The old Osterreichring is a fantastic, fast, and simply effective circuit. Patrese went flying off in the second part, scaring a spectator, in the 1982 Austrian Grand Prix. Since a number of people have commented on the airboxes, I'll say that they're a mixed bag with me. I don't particularly like how it looks on the McLaren here, and I can't say I'm a huge fan of the look of that specific Brabham. I'm fine with the Lotus 72 though. Nice race. The default setups aren't very good. I've found tyre pressure to be one of the bigger factors. That weird bump behaviour you encountered might be the problem with the differential in AMS2. The players who have telemetry would have a better idea, but I think it's something like the forces applied through the diff are twice what they should be, so you get sudden snap oversteer. Hopefully Reiza are able to fix it.
I am in love with AMS2!!! I love these videos because I am very uncreative when it comes to car track combos (and I lean towards the modern stuff). I will give this combo a try!
Kinda funny to hear you mention the cars need a little work as you're steering with your foot midcorner, whipsawwing the wheel, while trying to read the serial number on the cars gearbox in front. still to this day, the thing that kills this sim for me is logitechs shitty software... GHub either works with this game or, it will freeze/crash your computer at the Reiza splash screen at launch.
The feeling of this game somehow is so fake its undriveable sometimes. Its such a shame especially with 1993 version of spa and formula cars of this era. Automobilista 1 feels so much more realistic. Annoying
AMS1 was one of the best sims I've ever played....AMS2 though...It was built off of the Project Cars' framework...And PC is pure garbage (imho) as a sim, and I am completely not interested in AMS2 because of it....It was a huge misstep by Rieza, should've gone with RF2 if they were going to do this (like AMS1).
Reiza's rF2 content (while needing updating) did feel very good. My concern if they had picked rF2's engine, we probably wouldn't have a flushed out UI until 2025 or later. Still waiting for SP championships in rF2... they say this year, but I'll believe it when I see it... and if I need to deal with MAS editor to create a championship series, I'll probably just ignore it anyway.
@@DjFIL007 Good points...I almost forgot about the idiot move that rF took with their completely garbage modding abilities...But at least you can mod it, I believe AMS2 is un-moddable because of the PC game engine is not built for it. I guess it's a rock and a hard place if Rieza is looking to make a successor to AMS1. But I was talking strictly from a gameplay and sim perspective. RF2 is a much better engine when it comes to that in comparison to PC's...

However, I'm really hoping for and cheering you on is to WIN! and to be honest, it's a letdown when you don't try to win... I know you're just demonstrating the car or the track okay... But, I really would prefer to see you drive to win and not give room to the AI drivers! I feel if you were to talk a wee bit less and concentrate more and race the proper lines and win you'd have a lot happier subscribers... .02¢
still to this day, the thing that kills this sim for me is logitechs shitty software...
You have to try it to have an opinion on it.
