funny how all the chinese players always had their respective nemesis in the national team. Ma lin was head to head plus on Wang Hao, Wang Liqin was plus on Ma Lin and lastly, Wang Hao was plus on Wang Liqin . Full circle!!!

I believe Ma Lin always had more to lose if he lost. Wang Hao - being a new generation pen-holder, could have make him look obsolete. This could have been fatal to Ma Lin's career. On the other hand, Wang Hao had nothing to prove. So I feel Ma Lin always went in 200% against Wang. I feel it because I have had this situation in my own club.

I feel like a similar thing has happened with the recent greats as well: Ma Long is over Zhang Jike, Zhang Jike is over Wang Hao (was), and Wang Hao is over (was) Ma long.

@@raikirat8290 Nope, Ma Lin was an Olympic doubles medallist in 2004 and saved China's ass multiple times since 1999.He was indispensable regardless of his match up with WH.

WangHao can't handle it well when Ma drives strong spin with forehand, the RPB backhand usually goes wrong when blocking strong spin. This kind of change makes Wang feel uncomfortable.
