- After a cold winter in London my oldest and tallest palm, Washingtonia Robusta, looks as though it might be dead. The leaf spear in the centre is firm so there is a chance it may recover but all the leaves are dead. The other palms and exotic trees have survived and are looking good! 😎🌴
Some fantastic specimens!
Thank you for your appreciation. My mid summer update is just out now. 😎🌴
Thanks for your appreciation. My mid summer update end July 2023 might interest you.
Looks great! Thanks for sharing
Well, thank you for appreciating, Miriam.😎🌴
It was a cold winter indeed and with a drab summer which followed, my Trachycarpus Fortunei which had four new fronds last summer, could only manage to grow two new fronds so far.
It certainly was. Sorry your Trachy did not pick up this summer. If you look at my mid summer update you will see there are more damaged leaves that were not showing in this spring video. 😎🌴
Great Exotic Collection they have good size
Thanks for your appreciation, Mario. Yes, most are quite mature.
Great to see all your fab palms. I find the overwintering of the cycas tough, whatever I do they seem to get frostburn. Sorry to see your robusta looks 50-50. I lost 2 small ones this year.
Thanks for appreciating my palms, Vincenze! I’ve had the big Washingtonia for more than 20 years so fingers crossed it makes a green shoot in mid summer. Sorry to hear you lost two small ones. Filifera are slightly hardier but not easy to find.
@@jtruman48 I've got a few filifera I'm growing from seed🤞
@@vincenzecalzone8666 Good luck with that! 👍
@@bernardroussel6277 Bonjour Bernard. Merci pour vos tres gentilles remarques. You are lucky to live on the Mediterranean where you can grow palms without fear of freezing cold temperature and excessive rain in winter. Meilleurs voeux a vous et profitez de cet ete qui commence! 🌴
Looks great ❤❤
Thanks for your appreciation, Tom. All great except for my Washy.
@@jtruman48 well it’s Mexican for good reason pal
@@t0mhd572 I have one Mexican Blue in the back garden and another bigger one in the front which you see at the end of the video. I guess you mean these palms are tough enough to pull through a London winter ?🌴
@@jtruman48 of course London and Cornwall for sure - not so much Cheshire sad face 😞
Absolutely beautiful collection, gorgeous palms! Thanks for sharing, I just subscribed!
Thank you very much for your appreciation Palm Planet and for your subscription. I will do a mid summer update.
@@jtruman48 No problem, love the channel! Wonderful, can’t wait for that! I grow palms here in the Washington, D.C. area and I am always amazed by what you guys can grow up in the UK so far north of us.
@@palmplanet Thank you! You are lucky to have long hot summers in DC for palms to grow but you do have a little snow in winter. I stayed in Georgetown during spring long ago. If you type "trip to the Palm Centre London" you will see my two videos of the wonderful nursery where I bought all my palms.
@@jtruman48 Yeah we have super hot and humid, tropical-like summers. That’s awesome, Georgetown is nice. I will check out those videos, the Palm Centre looks incredible!
@@jtruman48 I also have videos of local palms on my RUclips channel, Palm Planet. No Washys or CIDP here but there are some 20-30 foot Trachys, a big Sabal ‘Birmingham’, and lots of Sabal minor and needle palms. Thanks!
