Tennessee Titans T'Vondre Sweat DISASTER PICK, Missing on Trade Offers & Draft Strategy Doomed

  • The Tennessee Titans have made a disaster pick at number 38 with Texas defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat. The move makes zero sense on multiple levels and Ran Carthon looks like a liar. The Titans passed on multiple trade offers to make this selection, only stinging more. Finally, this puts a wrench in any draft strategy the Titans have going forward.

If you listen to the presser after the pick, Ran and others took time to really get to know the guy, so much they went to visit him and his family. So maybe there is something there that told them to take a chance on the guy. Simmons was apparently excited about the pick when he literally called Ran and thanked him. I believe Jeff will take him under his wing. So instead of bashing the pick, how bout we wait and see what happens, cause the guy is a fn beast and much needed piece to the defense.

    2) There is a huge drop-off in talent at NT after him
    3) He will take double teams away from Big Jeff AND provide a huge pass rush up the middle

Tyler, Don't always agree with you, but I've never agreed with you more! Pick 38 is only 6 picks removed from the 1st round. Several 1st rounders fell into the 2nd...could have had one. I thought Ran came into the job with a wheeler/dealer mentality...move up and down the draft board. If you look at the early 2nd round trades there was great return..Ran whiffed here. Could have had him at 106 if you thought you had to have him...maybe later. The value at 38 is not there for a 2 down player who is frequently out of shape. Drawing Isiah Wilson comparisons. Expected a lot more especially after the hope free agency brought. F!

Tyler...Tyler... my boy. Hold on. Your blood pressure is a concern for me right now.
This guy is a kid. A black kid who lives in Houston. I think if you remove him from there and put him in Nashville with the right people, he will find success. We are going to reign him in. Or, at the least, teach himself to reign himself in.
I have faith. Please try to look for the positives. You know you can find them.

I think this is a bit of an emotional reaction from you bro. There’s enough tape of him manhandling every offensive lineman in his way. And watch almost any snap of him 1v1 against a center. Instant W. And you know Tracy Rocker had to stamp this as well. And go listen to any Texas fan.. outside of the DUI they’ve only known Sweat to be a leader on that defense.

Titans scouts have T'Vondre Sweat #1 on they board and that's all that matters
I wonder what did draft people board say about Tom Brady who was a 6th round pick 2000
T'Vondre Sweat a running plug guy who frees up players around him like Linebackers and Pass Rushers
T'Vondre Sweat has talent and athleticism at his size 6'4 and 362 lbs
Titans get A grade in draft so far needed Offensive Line and Defensive Line and got JC Latham and T'Vondre Sweat
Titans defense against the run with be lethal T'Vondre Sweat and Jeffrey Simmons

I'm going to trust the guys who actually went to his house and interviewed him. It's quite clear this pick was made to benefit big Jeff. Considering like you said his average snaps played his stats match up. And its not like he's a designated pass rusher. He's there to be a big body and take up space. Getting gashed down the middle clearly showed we need this dude taking up space.

  • @isaiahmcgill6948

This guy can make plays. I think he changes the game. Maybe you don't want top talent alongside Jeff but it's worked in the past. Also help spell Jeff too. I think we got bigger this draft and mean to. He is a project though, maybe he gets off the beer and fixes 2 issues at once. Also if you haven't been to UT Austin you don't know. Party school he probably couldn't help it

My biggest beef with both our first two picks is I think we could've traded back & still got them or someone similar. I know we had offers in the first & I've heard Minny was one of them.

His DWI was reportedly barely above the legal limit and someone ran into the back of his vehicle. Not like he was out getting hammered all night then went for a drive and crashed into something or someone. I don't see that part as much of a concern. It was a mistake to learn from but it wasn't anything wreckless. As far as his weight, that is a concern but he's already lost 15 pounds since the season and says he is going to diet properly and lose 15 more. As far as on the field, he is an absolute monster! He has quick, long arms and a nasty swim move. Having his way with offensive lineman play after play. I think you'd completely wrong about this one bud.

I'm sorry but Tyler Rowland is not an expert on who to draft or not. It's just his opinion, nothing more. Every year I hear so called experts say this guy or that guy is the greatest player ever and then they turn out to be a complete bust, and the other players who they think aren't that good turn out to be great. I believe the Titans know what they are doing.

  • @sportsmediaamerica
    @sportsmediaamerica Месяц назад

What comes to mind are the podcasts Tyler did back when he thought Ran Carthon was the Titans' savior, esp. due to his affiliation with the 49ers front office. Caution was advised, because we didn't really know how much input Carthon had with the Niners' rise. But Tyler persisted. And then Ran started talking like a BS artist and there was all that crap about "collaboration" when they dumped Vrabel. I guess this pick could still work out but it is interesting to note the criticism in light of the previous blind belief in the remade front office. And drafting a projected 4th-rounder in the 2d round is not a good sign.
