Every black wedding I've been to, this song HAS ALWAYS been played and the amount of people that rush to the dance floor, people will drop everything/anything they're doing just to do this dance... I love it!!! You can't not dance when it comes on!!!
Really? So my 7 year old black students, if they’ve been to a wedding, it will be familiar for them? I’m researching dances that I could do with them in class like for exercise, but I’m looking for dances that are culturally relevant to them
@@fit6456 Your 7 year old students probably won't know this song, different generation entirely as the song came out in 1986 but you never know play it and ask them who knows it. If they don't know that one you can try Master KG feat Nomcebo - Jerusalema I'm almost certain they'll have heard of that, there's also a dance to teach them with that one!
Interesting, while watching the movie in theaters or for the first don't know if I thought this was unscripted, but after a few watches you can clearly see that it is.
A few years ago I went to the wedding of a white man and a black woman and the guests were split more or less evenly along those lines. Really early in the evening - long before there'd been any drinking to speak of - most of the black folks got up as if by some sort of unspoken agreement and did this dance. Most of us white folks had never seen it before and had no idea what was going on. Good vibes though.
If the electric slide doesn't break out at every black family function there's something wrong hell we even did it at my graduation party 😂😂 #ILoveMyCulture
American not any Black function because that is like saying other Black countries too. I love this dance and look at it and would like to go to a function where this line dance was actually done several times so I could pick up the steps and really participate and get this feeling
I honestly don't think anyone was acting here. Maybe this was somewhat choreographed but this just looks real to me. They all are really having fun here and you see the director had to get in on it LOL

This film right here along with Love Jones, Soul Food, and Love & Basketball really set a new standard of films with Black casts with universal stories. Before these films we only had classics like Boomerang and Waiting To Exhale but they were outliers in a sea of violent hood films with black casts. After Best Man and the others i mentioned we got way more diverse and relatable depictions of us that even translated to other races. The late 90s to early 2000s were really a golden era for our people in film and television. This scene is still iconic!
