- We had an epic day fishing offshore out of Anna Maria Island, FL. It was perfect conditions to do a full send catch and cook Episode! We caught so many species Huge Mangrove Snapper, Grouper, HogFish, Lane snapper, amberjack and more... I have been wanting to cook (My favorite fish in the ocean to eat) "hogfish" whole for a long time so I took this as the perfect opportunity to do so enjoy!

Lachnolaimus maximus
First 3 spines of dorsal fin greatly elongated
Black blotch near end of dorsal fin
Body deep, strongly compressed
Snout elongated in adults
Tail with elongated upper and lower lobes
Young mottled with various colors, fading with age
Size: Up to 36 inches
Habitat
Rocky bottoms, ledges and reefs offshore; young associated with seagrass beds
Behavior
Long, hog-like snout allows them to feed on bottom-dwelling mollusks and crustaceans. Because they tend to root in the sediment in search of small prey, they are not commonly caught on hook and line.

Popular food fish. Primarily harvested by spearfishing.

Damn big man u talk about a glass-off, that water look like a big mirror, that’s what I’m talking about!! And brotha u lost ur drone in the ocean? How did it happen, did the thing just go crazy? That porgy didn’t like his camera close up lol but what beautiful colors on that fish!!! This is why I can’t wait to get back down there to my parents and go on a trip with u big man!! And that hogfish looked absolutely amazing!!! It was as white as that snow was at that cabin u guys went to not to long ago!! And I absolutely loved how this episode was longer and man u crushed it like always bub!!!! FANTASTIC JOB!!!!!

Great catches...how far out did have to go to get on those hogs?
I catch them on my nearshore charter trips www.fishingwithsalty.com but on this trip we started fishing in 50 feet of water up to 115 feet of water

We started in about 50 feet of water and we fished all the way out to 120 feet of water!
