Peter Hitchens is one of the few people left whose opinions I value. I deplore the deterioration in values and morals now
practised, evident and tolerated in our 'brave new world'. A corrupt government does not give out freedoms to its people
    but takes them for itself.

Yep... I agree. I voted Conservative for the first time in 2019 on the understanding that - in spite of what parliament had evidently tried to fudge during May's minority govt period on Brexit - that they were the only party of the two main parties committed to executing Brexit, which I saw as a repatriation of what Major, Blair and Brown did without ever asking any consent (namely selling out our legislative primacy in full to Brussels, via Maastricht, Nice and Lisbon treaties - the latter of which was just a re-clothed European Constitution with those scary words removed and a few internal edits!). But Boris definitely worries me with what has happened with the pandemic response and his green agenda that makes him sound as bad as people like Caroline Lucas! However, and here's the rub: where is a viable opposition choice? I don't trust Labour, mired as they are in identity politics, CRT, unconscious bias and the humourless and freedom opposing antithesis we know as "woke". I am more and more looking at Reclaim or Reform, frankly. Nothing other than a seismic change to the two-party monopoly can I see right now

My friend was the local (conservative) councillor, at the last local elections they forced him to run when he didn’t want to, so he sabotaged his own campaign and essentially said to people vote for the greens, because if you vote conservative you’ll just get the greens with the conservative sleeze, it worked and he lost, the greens got in and I’ve never seen him happier, he saw where the conservatives were heading and wanted nothing to do with it despite being the local councillor for the area for 20 years.

Am I the only one amazed that there is even a debate over this, i dont want my elected representative working in anyone other than my interests, these people get a salary which basically goes straight into their bank account, every cost they incur from the second they walk out of their front door is covered by expenses, travel, food, energy, housing, everything is subsidised and free, being given enough money to afford a London mortgage on expenses is bonus enough, they shouldnt have any other job, if they have their own business, fair enough, delegate and oversee whilst you are an MP, but second job, no.

I can't believe our conservative MP is even allowed in public office and sits in a safe seat. In 2014 he resigned as a ministers aid after being accused of paying a Brazilian male escort money for drugs and sex and a few years later was questioned by police for fighting with a friend and feeding a dog so much alcohol that it needed veterinary treatment. The whole system stinks.
