I think that yes based on training videos Grace and Riley are looking good but it will be hard to tell neither of them has competed AA yet this season, I think Chiles may make her way onto the podium because she has experience in AA from this year. I also hope that Morgan surprises us because we never know she may bring in a Nabieva.
I'm just not a believer in Riley's consistency its ways one thing or another with her and I honestly think she's overrated. But Chiles and Grace I can believe in!!
Victor Alves I have been saying that since Winter Cup. She seems so much more relaxed, confident and ready to make the team and I have every confidence in the Landis to get her on it. Besides she seems FIT and UNINJURED compared to a number of other competitors. Can't wait to see what she and all the others are going to be performing, Really looking forward to seeing Morgan particularly I must say.

Well I doubt She'll be left off again after her pormance at US Classic. Honestly she was the single most consistent performer even including Simone, I was more impressed with her here than Wintercup. What an awesome showing from her. She will be on everyone's next predictions list guaranteed!!!

She has expressed the view that she wants to make the team and has postponed College for another year to allow her to do so. What I saw last night only confirmed what I have said since that performance at the Winter Cup and that is the Landis are going to whip her into the shape she needs to be to make the team and that we would be even more impressed this time around and I was right. One thing people don't talk about though when discussing Jordan which I think is CRUCIAL towards her continued success is that she is almost as powerfully built as Simone and seems less fragile than the other gymnasts. With so many gymnasts carrying some injury or the other during this crucial time I think once Jordan remains injury free, she is a lock for Tokyo.
Why ? Grace is a good all around competitor. She is training cheng on vault, upgrades on bars and beam and has a good floor. She is really consistent and she was on the team at the 2018 and 2019 worlds. I think she has a good change of medal at classic

Besides as I have stated a number of times, she wants to make that team to TOKYO and I think the Landis are going to whip her into the shape to get in. One other thing I have noticed is that she is powerfully built almost like Simone and that tells me she will be able to compete at all the up coming meets and we wont have to worry about her getting injured as is the case of Grace, Sunisa and God alone how many others.
Grace has this beautiful circa 1996 era gymnastics that I just love. Her grace and style remind me of Shannon Miller. I would love to see Grace go to Tokyo.
I feel like Suni and to some extent Riley are the only gymnasts that are really taking advantage of the code on beam (and Kara but I don’t see her in contention at the moment). I wish the rest of the girls would implement more connections like the Chinese gymnasts. Also, I really hope jade debuts that front layout + double double at classics because that is insane and beautiful
Totally agree that USA has shown that they are not as agile at adapting to the code as one would expect. Generally speaking, they've stuck to their outdated formulas of throwing isolated big tricks, when they should be adapting to the routine composition that the Chinese perfected.
Yes, this is what I am always wondering about. So many amazing US beam workers right now, and I don’t know why they don’t flood their routines with split jumps, straddle jumps, back hand springs, and korbuts to play the code.
@@sshark2683 Because based on what was explained to me, those routines come with a lot of built in deductions and connection deductions. Connections are what the Chinese rely on to give them the Start Value they put forward around 6.6-7.7 Hardly EVER though are they able to hit these routines to score 15+ let alone to hit them consistently never mind what the judging in those domestic competitions tell you.
@@sshark2683 because a lot of the time you're getting slow connection deductions that basically neutralize those connections. Take Grace mccallum for example, she's able to get mid 14s on beam with a relatively simple routine because she doesn't flood her routine with connections.
One thing to keep in mind with the sport of gymnastics is that it moves at light speed. Outside of Simone its rare to see the same names doing well time and time again. Look how many people do great at World's and don't end up making the Olympic team in subsequent years. So by just focusing on the people who did well in the recent past it might not be the best barometer for predictions, especially overlooking the juniors who are now seniors. With such a packed and stacked field it's going to definitely be exciting. Can't wait!!!

I agree, I think the reason why they excluded Suni from AA is because there's a chance she won't compete it given how she looked a few weeks ago. But I think that Wong, Hurd and Chiles are definitely in the mix to be on that AA podium. I'd probably give Morgan bronze on bars over Simone, and put in Jordan, Leanne, or Morgan for bronze on floor over Myk. It'll be exciting to see everyone going head to head for the first time since 2019!
If Riley hits on bars she’ll podium over Grace I think. Her vault has gotten so much better and she has floor upgrades. She just needs to get her combinations and stick that dismount. Also Suni’s floor and vault are questionable with her injuries and lately she hasn’t been consistent on bars either and doing layout dismount off beam. It’s anyone’s game

Suni competed 2 events and had 2 falls. A very bad showing with relative good scores from the judges. Its like the judges love her and hate Chelsea... Lol

The positions are often interchangeable, except Simone, depending on their abilities to compete and perform under pressure. The prediction was mainly based on training videos. Jordan and Kayla have shown to be consistent in these competitions, and consistency should be a factor to determine the team.
@@cocoroni1031 I agree with u 100% and for the sake of consistency I hope both Kayla and Jordan do have a great showing at Nationals/Trials cuz of its just another random group of ladies and not the usual suspects that would make me nervous. Where I was completely wrong was by believing in the younger ladies they had a really bad showing, well except for Skye Blakely. I really thought they'd have a better showing, but we can forget it's a pressure sport and sometimes that's half the battle!

I mean even Sunisa said at World's 2019 that competing to make the US team was more stressful and difficult than competing at World's. Yes, trying to make the US team is very very tough and unlike previous years, this time it only have room for FOUR!

I hope Jordan, Sunisa and Malbuyo all keep their consistency going strong. Can't wait!!
I hate to say it, but CLEARLY you are a Riley and Grace Stan (which is cool but...). In my opinion, all around will be Simone, Suni and Jade/(everyone heavily under estimates Jade and idk why) and possibly Morgan. The vault will likely be Simone, Jade and Mikayla. The uneven bars will be Suni, Riley and Morgan/Konnor (Morgan is an above average uneven bars worker and people are truly sleeping on the new seniors, like Konnor). For beam, Simone (again😂), Suni, and Konnor/Skye (again the new comers definitely have a shot of making this Olympic team, particularly these two girls). And finally, floor will be Simone, Jade and Suni. I get it. Riley and Grace are great, HOWEVER, let’s not forget that poor Riley missed some pivotal competitions in 2019 (obviously of no fault of her own) and Grace has had major errors at international competitions (including BOTH worlds she’s attended). They both definitely have a shot but come on. Let’s be unbiased here.
So first of all, Riley had rhabdomyolysis which was probably why she had such poor performances. On bars Simone or Grace are a lot more likely to round out the top 3. On beam, only Kara's topped Riley's 15.1 since 2019 (for the Americans), plus she looks a lot better now. Floor is extremely open, anyone could realistically make that podium. I think it's easy for me to come off as biased, but there's definitely a reasoning to my podium predicitons 😭
@Ch Cand it’s not that she isn’t great, but chellsie will have a hard time getting credit for the full 6.1. when she does, there always seems to be one place for a wobble or two. other girls a scoring 14.5+ easily, it will be hard for memmel to place in the medals

Unfortunately, when one of the girls gets hurt, another one is right there to snatch their spot and opportunity to go to the olympics (ex. Jordan chiles has slipped right into the mix). I just don’t think Riley fits this team right now but we’ll see.

I think Jordan and Sunisa are much much better contenders for AA than Riley is, her floor isn’t strong enough and she’d have to hit on beam. Also I can’t see Kara, Sunisa, or Konnor placing under Riley for beam and if Chellsie’s got her Barani she’s in the mix too. Also if Leanne has her Cheng i can see her mixing up the vault podium a little bc Jade and Myks execution can be hit or miss
She only started doing fulls 2 weeks ago. I could see her maybe doing a double full, but I think it's safe to say that if we see the Cheng it won't be until trials.

Considering she had a life threatening disease, I don't think using her 2019 performances is an accurate way to gage her consistency.

Unfortunately, when one of the girls gets hurt, another one is right there to snatch their spot and opportunity to go to the olympics (ex. Jordan chiles has slipped right into the mix). I just don’t think Riley fits this team right now but we’ll see.

I think Jordan and Sunisa are much much better contenders for AA than Riley is, her floor isn’t strong enough and she’d have to hit on beam. Also I can’t see Kara, Sunisa, or Konnor placing under Riley for beam and if Chellsie’s got her Barani she’s in the mix too. Also if Leanne has her Cheng i can see her mixing up the vault podium a little bc Jade and Myks execution can be hit or miss

If Grace doesn’t throw a Cheng (or an Amanar but that’s unlikely) I’m gonna be disappointed honestly. Every part of that vault is textbook
She only started doing fulls 2 weeks ago. I could see her maybe doing a double full, but I think it's safe to say that if we see the Cheng it won't be until trials.
