Hi my brother, How are you and Jelena doing? Looks as though youse have definitely got back into the swing of living back in beautiful tropical Queensland after your holiday in the snow. Jelena your country looks so so beautiful. Any Maori Wrasse is stunningly beautiful, and what i class as a truly MYSTICAL CREATURE. They come in so many colours and hues, the deepest of blues, the brightest of greens, and then there are the grey versions, i do agree Dean, these are one of the most beautiful fish in the ocean. And that's a massive statement to make, as there are so many incredible-looking fish in the oceans of the world. The Maori Wrasse is not only beautiful because of its colours, but there is also a lot more to this fish. Summed up in a word, it"s "PRESENCE". This fish has the ability to capture you in time, the awe of its presence. Somehow making time feel as though it has stopped as you begin to take in the magnificence of this true ENTITY of the OCEAN. The stunning array of colours as they blend into one another, the shape of this fish, its form, its purpose and also its unmistakable POWER, they are BRUTES. Some say if it wasn't for their colours, they would be UGLY. Well without colour, i still say they are beautiful as it is more than their colour that appeals to me. I was blessed with an encounter with one of these hefty brutes many years ago, fishing off Cairns on an area of huge spherical bombies in approx. 40 meters of water, absolutely crystal clear, a mill pond, not a breath of wind. I dropped my baited line and got to see a stunning Deep green and blue Maori Wrasse appear from nowhere and approach my bait.It swam up to my bait laying on its side. It was such a bizarre thing to witness. It stopped before inhaling my Sqid and WA pilchard stuffed bait presentation. The Wrasse was very large, size wise i had no idea other than big. It seriously looked right into my eyes with its massive globe of an eyeball staring into my soul. At that precise minute, i could sense the Wrasse's intelligence. This wasn't just a beautiful fish, this was a stunningly beautiful and INTELLIGENT fish. It then ingested my bait, turned its head towards the ocean bed and motored off like a jet. Never to be seen again. I was absolutely mesmerised. Regards Dave.
hahahaha amazing story mate. Yes they are superb fish and very powerful. If they can see a bombie or the reef they will pull a GT backwards. Most amazing fish i have ever come across and always in awe every time i see one.
Thanks for tuning in legends, this truly was a fish of a lifetime for me and I feel so fortunate that we captured it all on camera.
What a beautiful fish mate, we encounter them quite a bit up north and always a pleasure to see them.
All I can say is “EPIC “
cheers legend, thanks for tuning in
