This is why I follow this guy! No dramatic music, actually shows pictures so I can at least see them. Doesn’t clickbait all of us or make us wait for sooo long. Actually has cool background, his voice isn’t super loud or super low, so it’s super good to hear at any time of the day. Actually brings details and doesn’t make me question everything. The videos are a perfect time even if some can be a hour long. If you aren’t subscribed to him, please don’t talk to me ever.
Honestly. Mr Ballen is such a talented story teller. It’s the little things that make his videos so special. The hand motions, how he breaks in and out of eye contact like you’re actually having a conversation with him, the way he studies each story. He deserves all the success he’s getting !
One of the theories is they died of nerve agents. Specifically, Novichok agents. These nerve agents were created in the 70s to ‘93 in Russia. The theory goes that the hikers were relatively close to site where these agents were created and/or tested. It goes that the storm that hit them the day and night before saturated the area and caused remnants of these agents to dissolve in the water from the storm. These agents are apparently very soluble in water. The morning of it was actually sunny enough to cause evaporation. Unfortunately, it is believed, according to this theory, that the first victim was standing on or right next to a source of water that had a high concentration of these agents in it and when it evaporated, he inhaled a lot at once causing symptoms instantaneously. These agents are reported to be the deadliest nerve agents ever created, about 5-8 times more deadly than VX agents. The first victim would have died almost instantly. By the time the hike leader got over to him, the vapors with the agents in them could have dissipated enough to cause her to show symptoms a little slower. And each victim after took longer to show symptoms because the cloud of gas/steam was becoming more and more dissipated, causing symptoms to show at longer time intervals. The girl that survived, supposedly reported herself, was the farthest away and by the time she ran up to help the last two that died the gas was dispersed enough to cause no symptoms to her. I read up on these agents and they do cause a lot of the symptoms that this girl reported seeing and the fact it took longer and longer for each victim to show symptoms, could suggest gas/steam cloud moving in that direction. Also, the protein deficiency found in the victims is odd, because they did eat breakfast or early lunch before they moved out. But a lot of nerve agents will show a protein deficiency after death due to how nerve agents actually attack the victim. Finally, and this part is sad to think about if true, the hypothermia cause of death could be accurate because it is possible the victims actually survived the gas. The theory is the gas was enough to incapacitate the victims and cause the horrible symptoms but not enough to kill them but since they were completely incapacitated they couldn’t move to survive and eventually died from hypothermia. There are a lot of theories out there about this incident, ranging from aliens to dark forces, but I think the nerve agent one is the most likely, in my opinion. Sad story either way.
Wouldn’t it be such a disappointment if his grandkids hated all his stories and they didn’t listen to him. I hope he’s just still on RUclips so we can all listen instead.

Same! For the first time in my life I fell asleep with a knife...I stayed up past 2AM listening to his cereal killer videos and heard a BIG bang on my balcony and after I checked I put a knife beside me, lol, I love getting scared...not THAT scared, lol , I leave my balcony door open enough for my cat to go in and out and I'm on the first floor by a river and woods! No ideas as to what that bang was...IT was like someone jumping off my roof onto my wooden decking.... A Big enough bang to shake wall pictures, I live alone too! I couldn't find anything but we had at least 5 people go missing in the last year where I live, strong , HEALTHY adults with lots of family.... SCARY
@@sarahbudd1623 yes, VERY scary...it's an ALL glass sliding door and the other door is an old fashioned solid wood door all etched out with artistic design that the landlord won't allow me to put a pet door through, understandable...and I can't cut through glass either, PLUS my cat is VERY vocal about being let out when she wants so I leave it open JUST enough for her to get back in , then I shut it. I actually have 2 locks on my sliding balcony door. The main handle one and ANOTHER I added on the metal frame that has a pin that goes directly into the sliding door so it's very solid. I just wish I could put a pet door somewhere for my cat, I like her to be able to run directly inside incase she's ever chased by a wolf, bear, lynx, mountain lion or coyote...or bigfoot, LOL, I basically live around the rocky mountains in Canada where we have everything that can kill us or our pets. I don't have guns due to a fight I got into protecting my family's honor, it sucks that beating up a mouthy prick gets your guns taken away for ten years or more. Now I just have bear Mace, machete and hunting knives. Im investing in a crossbow soon to have SOMETHING more of a cereal killer deterrent! That and all the killer animals we have, I BELIEVE we even have Wolverines and those new zombie deer with that wasting disease that makes them hurt themselves or even kill themselves or others, ACTUALLY, Mr. Ballen made a video with a zombie deer. LOL. Since I started watching ballens channel I've been on edge like NEVER BEFORE, it's not JUST the videos, it's all the missing people around here in the last year-ish. Then that GREAT BIG bang on my deck....I ran straight out with my machete and flashlight but nothing and I keep my balcony clean of snow because my cat loves sprawling out on it when the sun is out. It's just me and my cat now so she gets spoiled a lot, you know how much extra heat I pay to keep the door open for her? About an extra $100 a month but I work all day so I feel it's the least I can do for her, let her come and go as she pleases. Spoiled witch, LOL, the only thing I'm envious of america for is the ease of getting guns, hell, regular mace AND EVEN collapsible batons are illegal here! I miss my guns, I miss hunting...I'm a LOT more Leary of camping in the woods alone anymore, LOL, I've been a hunter since 5 years old and NEVER thought twice about hunting\camping alone! It's a scary world out there IF your not prepared for it. I hate seeing stories where pedophiles abduct kids RIGHT FROM their beds in the middle of the night by using an unlocked window or EVEN a door....it's a sick twisted world out there and if your not ready to defend yourself and your family...why even bother 😉
I was a mountain guide in the 90s, this really freaked me out. So weird and so many similarities to the Dyatlov Pass incident. You’re a brilliant raconteur, you brought those people to life in my head.
I was thinking the same thing, (as I'm sure others have.) Both cases happened in Siberia to hikers under similar, bizarre circumstances that were EXTREMELY strange and have an almost paranormal aspect to them. This gave me the creeps the way the Dyatlov Pass incident did. WTF HAPPENED TO ALL OF THESE PEOPLE?! Just crazy!! 😳😱☠
For sure. Just when I think I've binged all...i find one I've not seen...like today. And admittedly...i re-watch some I've already seen just because..BALLEN IS THE 💣 BOMB.
How does anybody have time to look for the secret lol. I get lost in the storytelling and his words and descriptions and then the video ends and I'm like damn forgot to look
IKR!!! I’ve watched about 50 Ballen vids now, and I’ve literally not seen the secret once. I’ve often noticed the time stamp pinned at the top and planned to look out for it, then I just get lost in his story telling and completely forget about it.
Mr. Ballen has a really unique talent. He can take subject and really bring it to life. I love watching and listen him tell stories, as he truly brings them to life. As an extra, he also does extensive research on the subject, before telling it to us, his audience. Keep the quality content coming! Every bit of success coming your way, is truly deserved.
Im an infantry Marine. I participated in cold weather mountain warfare training in Bridgeport Ca. I didnt take my boots off one night and my socks were soaked in sweat. I slept in the 3 bag sleeping system we carried. The veins in my feet near the surface froze and exploded. I had a bunch of purple lines all over my feet up to the ankles. This was in the second week of a 5 week op. The corpsman said there wasnt anything that could be done and I had to tough it out for the remaining 3 weeks. The entire time, we were hiking up and down those damn mountains it felt like I was stepping on crushed glass. Every step was miserable. We had to air lift 2 guys just from my platoon(I dont know about the others in the battalion) for altitude sickness or some shit. What Im getting at, is that we have no idea how bad it mightve been for them in that situation.
Thanks so much for your experience .That seems like the possibility. The winds and cold storm was so extreme the blood vessels froze and exploded. Just saw video as Katabolic winds. The extreme of these winds in temperature I dont think these hiking groups have any idea of these storms . Was any research done by groups on this particular storm systems
Rewatching this, I’m still disturbed by all of this. Though I failed to realize how scary it must’ve been for Dennis as well. He was lucid enough to tell the girl to run for help. He said he’d meet her in the forest even though he was bleeding out like the others. I can’t imagine the emotions she must’ve felt when she came back to see every single one of them dead, even Dennis. It’s horrible.
The radiation part of the story is interesting and would definitely back up the bleeding and strange behaviour. Maybe these two places were secret nuclear test grounds at some point and still omit radiation as a result. It's strange how the one girl survived though
@@dianakosianka5344 One of the symptoms of hypothermia is disorientation and confused behaviour - for example, some people take their clothes off. Hypoxia can also damage the eyes, making them itchy/uncomfortable. If radiation or other type of poisoning affected them, it would weaken their immune system and combined it could explain those injuries. Also, animals can prey on corpses too.

I like how hes telling somebody else's story, but somehow he makes it seem like it's his story. Like he's telling a story that he experienced himself. It's hard to explain, but that's what makes his story telling so good!
Right? When he talks about what the victim was feeling/thinking he doesn't say "he, she, they" he says "me, I, my" it makes it feel genuine and real and gets your head into the victims thought process. Plus the hand motions and eye contact is just,,,, PERFECTION!!!!
The fact they died so soon after leaving camp likely indicates they dug up some kind of nerve agent left from a test while pulling out their ropes and tents from the snow. Given she was one of the youngest in the group my guess is that they packed up without asking for her help and she wasn't contaminated as a result and survived.
See THAT makes sense. The "disturbing the soil" connection is a real detail that was present, why jump to radiation when chemical weapons are equally as destructive to human life, and often kill people more quickly?
@@alexia3552 what’s interesting is this happened at Chernobyl not to long ago when Russian soldiers were digging trenches, because of this decades of buried radioactive dirt was exposed and they all had acute radiation poisoning.
@@marleyking5246 Hell, why bring a government coverup into it at all? The Lake Baikal region has enough known radium deposits that they keep a testing station to check the water for contamination. It could very well be these poor guys found an *unknown* one.
she eye gouged each of the hikers, they died from the elements as they had no vision - how did she pull it off? well it's easy if she caught her victims by surprise - which might be a challenge as each victim will scream in terror, but maybe their mouths were covered or the elements were so harsh that they were drowned out, or a combination of that and how far they were spaced from each other key points to remember, she was covered in blood, only she survived, all hikers died from hypothermia - they froze to death, not from spontaneous bleeding and hypothermia isn't going to kill everyone in the space of 5 minutes, nor make you bleed - her story doesn't match up with the autopsies there was a case from homicide hunter (joe kenda) where a petite girl murdered her drunk 60 year old ww2 veteran friend who she claimed made an unwanted sexual advance on her, she pulled out his eyeballs, shoved them into his mouth - he eventually died of suffocation - the eye balls cut off his oxygen supply - they were all covered in blood chemical weapons have a shelf life, they tend to deteriorate quite quick when in controlled environment, they wont survive long outside in the elements radioactivity takes quite a while to do it's thing, more like weeks rather than days or hours - in the final stages of hypothermia people start feeling extremely hot so they strip, this is what happened in the other case, complete confusion, disorientation and feeling extremely hot
I have a strange sort of respect for you, Mr Ballen. A lot of these stories give me a bad, sad, and sometimes even maddening feeling of frustration with this world. It’s amazing that you know all these horrible stories and that you are so cheerful and happy hearted. You keep me going.
It started with one video and turned into listening in the car, in the yard, while eating and while cleaning the house. I’ve binged everyone of his videos and I’m hungry for more. Love it
I put the video playlists on then put my phone in the kitchen window over the sink and hook up to my bluetooth speaker while I'm cleaning and cooking. I also take it into the shower and set my phone & speaker in the bathroom window so I can binge! This is my 2nd playthrough of all of his videos, next is Cold Case Detective, Southern Girl Crime Stories, Criminally Listed & Criminal Core! Can't get enough of all of them.
The cause of death was them staying in an open field where the snow and wind is retarded and hates your guts. So they mightve been a chemical compound in the win or air that made them turn mad and the radiation could've came from the winds that blew from a nuclear plant. Or. Sum
The missing eyes/eyelids is easily explainable by animal depredation on the bodies (both sets of bodies were found weeks or months after death). The description of the symptoms as the Baikal group were dying however, is eerily similar to chemical weapons effects... it almost sounds like some kind of nerve agent killed them. Why Valentina wasn't killed is anyone's guess, but nothing else even comes close to explaining it.
Not really it doesn’t make sense for an animal to eat the eyes as far as I’m aware of no animals on a mountain like that would do just that and especially considering there was no mention of s Signs from animals doing that
It's very likely the storms from both these storys brought up some nearby gas patches somthing similar to sulfer gas as the storys expcally the first one sound very similar to it The survivor girl just happened to not breathe it in like the others But government conspiracy and cover up is more interesting then some possible random gas deposits in the area
@@Sujamma_Enjoyer cops everywhere are incredibly lazy likely overlooked many clues And animals would eat the eyes because it's easier to eat off a frozen body. (Possibly some birds) And they said the boots were separated so they probably did try to eat more and pulled the boots off
@@RustyNips sure there are lazy law enforcement everywhere but it would take some serious negligence to overlook animal tracks and bite marks so yeah it could be a gas deposit or something like that
@@Sujamma_Enjoyer It was the USSR and there was a bunch of seemingly unexplainable deaths. Investigating fully could lead to a tragic clumsy fall out of a window. In all likelihood the official investigation existed only on paper and was the Party line.
Hey, MrBallen, I have a suggestion you might be interested in. Could you find 3 miracles that happened no one can explain? I think that'd be an interesting topic to cover.
I am from a baltic state. And when I went to school, I had a really good history teacher who told us stories like this and this one too. But through the years I have forgotten those stories, so thank you, Mr. Ballen.
Radiation sickness doesnt make you bleed from your orifices. In radiation sickness, skin starts falling off and your body slowly dies (depending on how many roentgens you received) and you puke when you get radiation sickness. They were not puking. I rule radiation out. Radiation doesnt kill you instantly bleeding from your orifices. I heard on the hike they were eating plants and thought they were this nutritious plant called rhodiosa something. They might have picked the wrong plant which poisoned them.
The part where Valentina says she closed her friends eyes was actually a mistake made by an english translator. She said “I closed my eyes and averted them, I couldn’t look” she never closed her friends eyes. She saw the bodies the next morning; was horrified so she gathered what she could and started off into the mountains.
Okay that makes much more sense. I was thinking “why the HELL would someone touch a dead body they just saw shoot blood from their eyes, ears & nose? Russian military testing a biological weapon I bet.
It’s not possible anyway, the whole passing the hand gently over the eyes of the dead. Even using more force doesn’t work. It’s basically a weird gesture created for films and TV.
My favorite part of Mr. Ballen's story telling is that he respects the people he's talking about, it's not just a thing he does to generate high views or revenue. The way he speaks, the way he takes the time to really dig into the "why?" of these tragedies, and the way he speaks on crimes resulting from neglect or just not knowing of mental health diseases and disorders. Thank you so much for what you do AND HOW YOU DO IT!!! ❤

Have you ever read Dead Mountain by Donnie Eichar? It was published in 2014, but the author actually retraces the steps of the Dyatlov group as best he can as he tries to understand their deaths. He proposes infrasound as the cause and makes a really compelling case for it. Highly recommend it for fans of unsolved mysteries. Anyway, I've been binge-watching your videos on my days off and then telling all my co-workers about it; you're an awesome storyteller. Thanks for making highly consumable content of strange and scary things!
just wanted to say you're an incredible storyteller. i've heard this story before, but the way you tell it and any other story is so engaging. a lot of channels similar to yours just put on a creepy voice and narrate it like it's just some weird thing that happened, but i can really hear the empathy in your voice and the way you include details like Lyudmilla seeing Sasha as her son, and how her students really loved her just adds a layer of humanity that makes it all the more tragic. love your channel, you really have a gift for storytelling
At first I thought when you said "Russian death march" that it would be a story from ww2 (I first listened to this on Spotify so I didn't see the thumbnail or anything) but boy was I in for a twist. Despite the absolute horrors of war i don't think even that idea prepared me for something this bizarre. I'm also glad that you brought up the Dyatlov Pass Incident since it did show some similarities and was almost equal to this in how scary it was. I ended up telling this story to my Russian mom and it of course freaked her out but she believed that unlike the dyatlov pass incident (which she knew about beforehand) this tragedy could have some tangible solution, especially since this time there was a survivor. It's pretty interesting reading all the comments speculating the different theories but the one I've seen was about it being some kind of chemical poisoning or nerve agent, mixed with the hypothermia and other conditions seemed the most interesting to me. Nightmare fuel...
I LOVE the sound affects!!! Wind howling in the background, trees falling, just brings the story home with the mental visual affects that go with your GREAT story telling!!!

Lyudmila is an ancient Slavic name, consists of two parts "lud" or "ludi" (people), "mila" or "milaya" (sweet/cute). Literally meaning "cute to people" or "people around like her". The name was revived and became very popular in the 19th century after the epic fairy tale poem "Ruslan and Lyudmila" by Alexander Pushkin, the most revered poet and writer in Russia.
I remember reading about this story somewhere, but god.. you went into so much more detail. I knew that the hikers started bleeding and dying. But rolling around, clutching their throat, ripping clothes, banging their head on a rock, and biting the only one who survived? That absolutely horrifying.. what in the world happened to them! This is so much worse than what I read about this story. Why were they missing eyes? Why were their throats bruised? And why did they have a look of terror frozen on their faces? God.. I don’t know what’s more terrifying. The fact that this even happened, or the fact that WE don’t know what caused it.. I’m glad that someone was able to survive though. I hope that girl was able to move past what happened and is living a good life.
My guess is either exposure to some kind of chemical nerve agent (either natural or manmade), or they were in an area saturated with infrasound waves that would be utterly imperceptible to them (again, either natural or manmade). Below 20hz, infrasound waves can severely disrupt the body, **particularly the eyes**, and cause vomiting, internal organ rupture, panic, and many other reactions. The only issue with an infrasound theory is why it wouldn't have affected the survivor. I lean more towards a chemical nerve agent that they may have come in contact with when they were packing up their tents. If the survivor perhaps hadn't helped in that task, she wouldn't have had contact with the nerve agent.
I love it too but just because I want to believe him doesn't mean every detail he says is correct, alot of the stuff he says he couldn't know but it fits so well he makes all these stories so compelling and to feel True. Still great entertainment value!
I was a Wildland fire fighter for 5 years in Oregon. Falling tree branches in a forest is by far the scariest thing I ever experienced. The snap is unbelievably loud, and in a forest the noise just kind of echoes and given that their are 1000s of branches over you at any given time you had no idea if you were about to die. I had a branch fall maybe an inch from my head, and I felt very lucky I was a loose cannon and didn't have my hard hat buckled on too tight. It caught the lip of my hard hat and sent it flipping through the air about 20 feet. The branch surely would have killed me. That was my last season as a fire fighter, though not specifically why I left.

Just learned that anthrax can stay dormant until agitated for hundreds of years. There was a case in Siberia in 2016 where a raindeer corpse thawed out and released spores into the air caused 4 to be hospitalised and killed 2 people! Could it have been anthrax that took them out? This is probably the best psychologically effective strategy to keep viewers on the edge of their seat. The story-telling factor gives imagery, along with sound effects and tone. This guy is a true legend.
There is a really interesting theories out about this. One is a Chemical Nerve agent that is known to linger for a while. Novichok and VX were tested in the area they were thought to be in that very area. Novichok gases are a class of nerve agents created by Soviet Russia up to 1993 which is the year of this incident. I did a lot of research on nerve agents for this video and I found a few interesting things: Nerve agents are soluble in water, they can take four months to evaporate, they are made of heavy particles that often float close to the ground, and the stronger ones can be hazardous in a location where they were used long after they were first released. This may seem completely random, but bear with me. This is my theory: The rainstorm plays a very key part in this. The rain could have washed a strong nerve agent (likely a Novickok or VX) that had been tested at most four or five months prior in a more discrete site up the mountains, down to the hill. As the morning sun evaporated water from the rainstorm, some of the still hazardous agent went with it, but it did not travel far, staying in sort of epicenters close to the ground. Sacha got unlucky and walked over a highly contaminated spot, causing almost instant symptoms. He may have absorbed the toxin through either his skin or by breathing it in. When Lyudmila ran to him she was exposed to the same toxic location. Tatyana, Viktoriya, and Timur were the first to reach Lyudmila, but quickly ran away. This delayed their deaths slightly. Since Valya did not get close to Lyudmila, only Viktoriya who had removed herself from the epicenter of contamination, Valya was not exposed to high levels of the toxin. However, if Viktoriya had not bit her and Valya had bent down to the ground, she may have. Denis was also not impacted by high levels initially, but his decision to hide and crouch down was his downfall. This is not my theory but an article I found: medium.com/the-mystery-box/the-most-credible-theories-regarding-the-khamar-daban-incident-ae84d8a60be2

@Steef S right, that could be thing as well, anyway its something that didn't affected her... My best guess would be the they eat something she didn't as they camp same spot... In a back of my head is posibbility of her poisoning rest of the group... Unlikely but cant be rulled out without investigation. We propably never know.

I had to nope the fuck out of several of his videos. Disturbing videos 5 I think, the one that ended with the kid being cornered in the bodega was one.
Mr. Ballen, Several years back I watched Josh Gates retrace their steps on the Dylatov Pass . I remember two distinct things about it. One was that a somewhat sizable piece of sheet metal was found that didn't belong to anything that they could find that was also radio active. There's some people that think it was part of a nuclear bomb that had been tested the night everything happened. Two is that right before Gate's had to leave a piece of paper had been located that showed the Russian Army that went to recover the bodies had first left out to do so something like a full day or two before anyone was even due to be back? As if to insinuate that the Army needed to go survey the damage from the test bomb and happened across the hikers by chance and started covering up things right away. That's what I seem to remember most from that special Gates had. It was not an avalanche at all. the slope they were on didn't have enough of an angle for that to have happened ever.. A bomb or a Yeti perhaps I honestly couldn't tell ya myself.. I'd never heard of the first part of the story though. Well Done!!!
I saw someone else make a similar comment to this so I would like to share as well! Reasons why I am subbed to him: -his voice is actually really nice to listen to -he doesn’t do anything randomly loud, so you can fall asleep while watching him -he displays different photos to give you a mental image - his green screen isn’t glitchy -the stories are the right amount of scary. The second you said radiation, everything clicked. It makes so much sense with the symptoms. Probably walked through a no man’s land near a nuclear weapons testing site. The only survivor probably just hit the jackpot with avoiding a lethal dose of radiation while the others weren’t so lucky
Apart from their atypical symptoms, this raises the question of why those were the only people affected when several other groups were moving through the area.

The videos are a perfect time even if some can be a hour long.

It's just me and my cat now so she gets spoiled a lot, you know how much extra heat I pay to keep the door open for her? About an extra $100 a month but I work all day so I feel it's the least I can do for her, let her come and go as she pleases.

How do you explain the missing eyelids?
She slept in a lead lined sleeping bag?? Just a guess.

Yes...it really draws one in to the story. Rapt attention is a result of his abilities with narration.
Mrballen stories turning everyone into investigators... you may be onto something! 🤔🧐
she eye gouged each of the hikers, they died from the elements as they had no vision - how did she pull it off? well it's easy if she caught her victims by surprise - which might be a challenge as each victim will scream in terror, but maybe their mouths were covered or the elements were so harsh that they were drowned out, or a combination of that and how far they were spaced from each other
key points to remember, she was covered in blood, only she survived, all hikers died from hypothermia - they froze to death, not from spontaneous bleeding and hypothermia isn't going to kill everyone in the space of 5 minutes, nor make you bleed - her story doesn't match up with the autopsies
there was a case from homicide hunter (joe kenda) where a petite girl murdered her drunk 60 year old ww2 veteran friend who she claimed made an unwanted sexual advance on her, she pulled out his eyeballs, shoved them into his mouth - he eventually died of suffocation - the eye balls cut off his oxygen supply - they were all covered in blood
chemical weapons have a shelf life, they tend to deteriorate quite quick when in controlled environment, they wont survive long outside in the elements
radioactivity takes quite a while to do it's thing, more like weeks rather than days or hours - in the final stages of hypothermia people start feeling extremely hot so they strip, this is what happened in the other case, complete confusion, disorientation and feeling extremely hot
I have a strange sort of respect for you, Mr Ballen. A lot of these stories give me a bad, sad, and sometimes even maddening feeling of frustration with this world. It’s amazing that you know all these horrible stories and that you are so cheerful and happy hearted.

Moral of the story. If someone suddenly says we have to make camp here, when you're halfway up a mountain, turn around and go down to the forest
Hol up you might be on to something
The cause of death was them staying in an open field where the snow and wind is retarded and hates your guts. So they mightve been a chemical compound in the win or air that made them turn mad and the radiation could've came from the winds that blew from a nuclear plant. Or. Sum
Or zombies
@@tex2636 I’ll take then latter, sounds cooler lol
The missing eyes/eyelids is easily explainable by animal depredation on the bodies (both sets of bodies were found weeks or months after death). The description of the symptoms as the Baikal group were dying however, is eerily similar to chemical weapons effects... it almost sounds like some kind of nerve agent killed them. Why Valentina wasn't killed is anyone's guess, but nothing else even comes close to explaining it.
Not really it doesn’t make sense for an animal to eat the eyes as far as I’m aware of no animals on a mountain like that would do just that and especially considering there was no mention of s Signs from animals doing that
It's very likely the storms from both these storys brought up some nearby gas patches somthing similar to sulfer gas as the storys expcally the first one sound very similar to it
The survivor girl just happened to not breathe it in like the others
But government conspiracy and cover up is more interesting then some possible random gas deposits in the area
@@Sujamma_Enjoyer cops everywhere are incredibly lazy likely overlooked many clues
And animals would eat the eyes because it's easier to eat off a frozen body. (Possibly some birds) And they said the boots were separated so they probably did try to eat more and pulled the boots off

That mountain is probably the dumping ground where radiation is mixed with the ground ice/snow.
@Parham Zee birds eat dead animals eyes as far as I know, so maybe that happened after they died
Radiation doesn’t make you do that
Radiation sickness doesnt make you bleed from your orifices. In radiation sickness, skin starts falling off and your body slowly dies (depending on how many roentgens you received) and you puke when you get radiation sickness. They were not puking. I rule radiation out. Radiation doesnt kill you instantly bleeding from your orifices. Have you ever read Dead Mountain by Donnie Eichar? It was published in 2014, but the author actually retraces the steps of the Dyatlov group as best he can as he tries to understand their deaths. just wanted to say you're an incredible storyteller. i've heard this story before, but the way you tell it and any other story is so engaging. a lot of channels similar to yours just put on a creepy voice and narrate it like it's just some weird thing that happened, but i can really hear the empathy in your voice and the way you include details like Lyudmilla seeing Sasha as her son, and how her students really loved her just adds a layer of humanity that makes it all the more tragic. love your channel, you really have a gift for storytelling
After watching Mr ballen the past few months I think it's brave to go the local store.

I think I read a book like that to
My guess is either exposure to some kind of chemical nerve agent (either natural or manmade), or they were in an area saturated with infrasound waves that would be utterly imperceptible to them (again, either natural or manmade).

And the remaining girl was just 'lucky' (as lucky as you can be after seeing all she did and surviving that!) she didn't get infected?

True same was on my mind and I don't think military have anything whit that something strange have there
The rapid weather change could have been a deterrent or warning that they were to turn back...
This is my theory:
The rainstorm plays a very key part in this.

@G Robinson that's what I was thinking, but all the Mr Ballen stories makes me think I need a roommate or something 😆

The second you said radiation, everything clicked. It makes so much sense with the symptoms. Probably walked through a no man’s land near a nuclear weapons testing site. The only survivor probably just hit the jackpot with avoiding a lethal dose of radiation while the others weren’t so lucky
These symptoms do not match up with those of death by exposure to radiation. More like some sort of nerve gas
i don't think the soviets ever tested a nuke near lake Baikal,
Apart from their atypical symptoms, this raises the question of why those were the only people affected when several other groups were moving through the area.
