I use my GTX 1060 6GB with an i5-10400 with 16GB RAM and it just plugs along with everything I've played so far. Granted I've not attempted something like Cyberpunk, but it works well for all my gaming and emulation.
Currently playing it with a GTX 1060, 24GB RAM and Ryzen 5 5500, and it's quite fine, about 45-50fps with medium preset with ultra quality FSR
CP 2077 don't like Pascal GPUs though, a GTX 1650 Super gets way better performance for about the same raw performance.
We basically have the same pc lol its actually a very nice build I bought the pc for 90 bucks lol
I bought a PC from OFFERUP for $300 that has an i7 8700k, 16GB DDR4 RAM at 3000MHz, GTX 1060 6GB, a Corsair H100i 240mm AIO cooler, and a Kediers C570 open air case. The motherboard is an MSI Z370-A PRO.
@@youseffaisal4181Where did you get it for only $90?
Especially if you use Linux. Most of my fps problems was due to Win11 using a lot of my ram
I'm using this card. I've had it since release date. It's been great but i was looking at the RTX 4070 Ti. I think i'll stick with my old faithful GTX 1060 6GB for another couple of years until the prices drop on RTX cards. . Great review thanks.
i just brought my gf the 4070ti msi trio its so good worth the upgrade was playing cod vanguard zombies 4k ultra res scale 110% and getting 90fps
1060 6gb into RTX 4070 that was a huge leap for upgrade, I was thinking not just for user experience of the gpu but also building up the entire CPU too. 😂
@@rolandoimanuelle950 My CPU is a Ryzen 7 3800x which seems to be OK. I'm a bit behind on Ryzen but eventually will no doubt get a Ryzon 9 when they also drop in price 🙂 The reason i wanted to upgrade my GPU was because of a game was laggy but it turns out it wasn't my GPU it was the game.
@@connorhall69 bro upgraded his hardware to play mid 😂
@@FoxCunt mid ?
Got that exact Asus rog Strix 1060 6g oc. Best case scenario for excellent gaming to this day. Thanks for the video RA Visuals!
Granted the fact you can find these little gems for like 60-80 dollars, and we have magic FSR. These cards make perfect little budget PC flipper fodder 😉
For real! The used market is full of these
got one for 50$
@@chasethefeeli got the msi gaming x 1060 6gb for 50 dollars too
nice buy!@@heyduknecht8692
That's pretty much all you should pay when cards that are twice the price are also twice as fast
I've got one coming. It should pair well with my Ryzen 5 5500, and it definitely paired well with my limited budget.
I have the 1060 6gb in combo with my ryzen 5 1600x i got this rig quite a while back as a birthday gift and till this day it works perfectly and is a beast when it comes to gaming or editing and designing, pair that with just how oc friendly the 1060 is and it's a treat of a card. Would 100% recommend it.
I using GTX 1060 6gb since 2019 still good enough until today
Id like to see the vega 56/64 cards being talked about more.
Great video as always. About 3 months ago grabbed a GTX 1070 for only 109 US.
I may have to test the 1070 next?
@@RAVisuals That would be great. I'd say the 1060 6GB and 1070 are by far the best balance of price and performance in the 10 series. The 1070 Ti and up are certainly offering less frames per dollar right now.
@@JeffWaynee is there a noticeable difference between gtx 1060 and 1070?
I have the turbo (blower style) version of the 1060 6GB that came in a PC along with an i7 8700k. It works well enough for my gaming needs.
Nice little card for a console-esque living room experience @ 1080, most TVs of that res and size (32-50inch) are only 60hz too, so anything else would really be overkill for a lot of games
I snagged a decade old HP Z420 for free with no storage or GPU this week, and got a 1060 6GB from my cousin for $50CAD. Threw in a few SSDs I already had laying around, installed Steam, and holy shit am I pleasantly surprised. All I want to play is War Thunder, and I’m easily getting 90FPS at 1200p with all settings maxed except the super fine 4x antialiasing above the already maxed regular AA. I haven’t had a gaming PC since my last one blew up in 2007, and was under the impression I’d need a 30 series to play anything, let alone a mid tier 10 series.
Love to see it! Yeah, these still add crazy value for the money!
I have this in my family/general us PC downstairs. My daughter loves playing Minecraft on it since she can crank all the setting and use her favorite shaders
I still use the GTX 1060 6GB aswell. And it still is an amazing card!!! I have it overclocked and i am still able to play most modern games on high settings easy with 50/60 fps some even higher.
Whats the overclock u running on it
@@XxFaDeClanPS3xX i have gigabyte windforce 6gb and mine is oced tho i get 60fps on farcry 6 at ultra settings
Is the GTX 1060 6gb enough for 1080p and normal video editing ? Can it smoothly play videos in davinci resolve and after effects?
dude i still have this card is crazy how good it performs i have a ryzen 7 gpu and the 1060 -32 gb ram - and i can run apex at 144 fps on medium settings , i debloted the gpu and optimized windows as much as possible
Honestly, seeing how it still functions well enough according to you and others on the internet, I am rethinking upgrading my setup and only adding more RAM as my PC is struggeling with 8GB.
I was also looking at graphic cards, but honestly getting more ram removed any desire to spend that extra money
@@knutenniopelagalli3817 Same. I didn't change it and just added as much Ram as I could. It works now, and can probably last a few more years. Which is all I need anyway.
Help me understand why graphics cards review seem to think that anything aound 60FPS is almost unplayable ? I'm an old guy and 30 fps is just fine .. why are some obsessed with 100 + fps ?
30 fps at times looks like it's in slow motion, the bare MINIMUM is 60 and is VERY playable, I personally prefer to be around the 70-80 fps range to be safe from massive frame drops
I agree. I get 60 FPS most of the time and don't see any slowdown or stutter. If it drops below 30 FPS then I'll notice the difference in game play.
@@Lazar-ox5bd its all about the kinds of games played. I played Mafia 3 with 45fps and it was just fine, as long as its smooth.
@@tiortedrootsky yeah, for me as long as it's above 30 it's good
nice work man!
i've had both 1060 6 and 3 and a 1650, can confirm the 1060 6 gb is the winner :) .
The 1060 6GB is just a hair under 1650 Super performance, and at least 30% faster than a standard 1650.
Nice, i had to remove the next gen update from my pc because i have a 4gb r9 380... If i upgrade to this card it should allow me to play Witcher 3 next gen update.
Great video fella
I sold my 1030 gb for a $100 and got one of these for an extra $20 and i don't think ill upgrade for a while
I use this card in my primary system. ROCK SOLID. And push into OC and she will do it. I use MSI Afterburner, 100% the fans, case fans are moving enough air. I can stress it and be 50C. I'm thinking about changing paste with Artic Silver 5 as I want to make sure I'm squeezing every drop of heat out...
In my local market you can have a 1080 or 1070 for nearly the same price as a 1060, as they are all in the "passed over" phase now. . Around $100. Next it's the 1660 Ti/Supers before you hit the RTX tier price range. I just picked up a GTX1080 for a $100 to hold me over until 8gb of Vtam isn't enough. I have had just about every Nvidia card at some point, the 6gb of Vram is almost enough.
The GTX 1060 is a super great video card! I picked up a DELL GTX 1060 6 GB and a MSI GTX 1060 6 GB for $40 (for both cards)! Paired with AMD FX 8350 CPUs I managed to build two AMD FX 8350 (+ 32 GB DDR3 server ram as these FX motherboards and use both ECC and non ECC ddr3 ram) desktop / gaming systems for roughly $120 each!
One of my favourite past times is to build the best computer I can on the lowest budget possible and having a friend who can fix computer electronics is an added bonus! The MSI 1060 was a freebie and was non functional when I picked up the video card (and was thrown in with an MSI Cyclone GTX 550Ti for FREE). I ended up paying $30 for a new AMD Wraith Cooler, the MSI Cylone (I needed the 550Ti for another budget build), and the MSI GTX 1060 altogether. Took the MSI GTX 1060 card over to my friend house and he took the heat gun to the MSI 1060 GPU and re-flowed the solder and to our amazement the MSI GTX 1060 sprung back to life!
Since the GTX 1060 will only consume 125 watts of power during optimal game play using only a single 6 pin power connector is more than enough power for the GTX 1060 since 1060 will draw 75 watts from the PCIE slot and the external 6 pin power will supply an extra additional 54 watts....!
i have 1060 6 gig still too i only play on 1080p and i dont need the highest settings for games
It’s still such a great card for that!
@@RAVisuals indeed
Would you do an rx580 or 1060 6gb?
I have the msi 6gb gaming X version of this, it works fabulous super smooth on the games I play, even on starfield it works nice. I will upgrade at some point but for now it's a great card.
why wasnt it ever called the 1060ti
I picked this card up for $60 barely used on the fb marketplace.
Not disappointed at all for the games I play.
Little laggy on "Blue protocol", but i blame the rest of my comp as well lol
Yeah, I have the same card. I think my monitor was holding it back. I had a old Dell monitor not even 1080p. I just bought a 1080p-144hz monitor, I still need to hook it up. But, this GPU is still amazing. The only reason I can see the GTX1650 beating the 1060 6gb is the price.
Is the GTX 1060 6gb enough for 1080p and normal video editing ? Can it smoothly play videos in davinci resolve and after effects?
@@chhatrapatikumar I play all my games easy on 1080p. Depends on what you play
@@Joeker8171 I am not talking about games bro, I am talking about video editing in davinci resolve & after effects .
@@chhatrapatikumar ohhhh sorry. That I can't answer. I'm not sure.
im still using this card with my 8th gen i5 . still kikass!
Grabbed my asus rog 1060 6gb strix oc for 113€ and use it for 768p gaming, RE Village runs flawlessly without a SINGLE frame drop on medium (and some high) settings, granted i got an i7-950 and 12gb DDR3 ram and it works LIKE a charm, makes me comfortable for tekken 8 and re4make
*lil update, tekken 8 cnt I was getting 46 fps on the lowest settings 768p (i was getting steady 60 on yakushima) but they lowered the minimum gpu from a gtx 970 to a 1050 ti (which is slower) so i MIGHT be able to get steady 60
I have to 1060 6 gig still lol Ricky yes i know. Still game 1080 high and stream. NO problems' here yet lol. I play cyberpunk med and some high settings
My GTX 1060 6GB plays COD, WoW, Fortnite on high perfectly smooth. My PC is kinda old now but still plays my games perfectly smooth I have a Asus ROG cpu i7 7700 3.6ghz, 16GB ram
i already bought it yesterday but i found out i dont have a 500+w psu i have a 350w in the build im upgrading
I'm just getting back into this stuff. It was a bit lost on me why you're comparing it to the 3GB one. Presumably that's a cheaper, worse one. Not sure why you're hanging shit on it.
I'm' new to PC gaming and trying to build a budget system so that I can play with my grandkids. I just scored a EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 SSC2 6GB GDDR5. It's going into an old HPZ 620 workstation with a 6 core 12 thread Xeon (3.50-3.90GHZ) 64 GB of ram. I'm hoping it will work decent enough and this video is encouraging, thanks for sharing the info.
It surely will, you could also overclock the 1060 for that extra bit of performance and the card will not disappoint.
I'm trying to find how users are setting up this GPU in Nvidia Control Panel. I've played on this card for a number of years with an RX 3600x with 32 gb of ram and since I started playing with Madden 22 and now 23 I have stuttering issues in my video. This only gets worse if I record or stream a game. Does anyone have a good set of NVP settings they recommend?
my laptop has the 1060 6gb and im more then satisfied with the gaming i can still do on it when im traveling!
My 1060 6gb still running on x79 platform xeon 2696 64bg ram. Windows 11. Runs great. On a Chinese ali express board that has nvme m.2 support. no issues.
I see what you did there, those xeon cpus are beasts.
i have no problems with this, easy to over clock and runs every thing, including the new tekken 8. i have the MSI twin frozen 3 edition, 6gb, again, no reason to update for me.
I thinking about upgrading from my 1060. What card do ya recommend? I staying at 1080p gaming
I'm planning on upgrading from a 1060 6gb, i7-950 12gb ram to a rtx 3060 12gb, 36gb ram and ryzen 7 5700g
Will the graphics from 1060 6gb beat the onboard graphics from a ryzen 5 4600G ????? I’ve been using the asus 1060 6gb and choose to upgrade to the AMD rx 7800xt paired with a i7 10700k. My daughter pc has the ryzen 5 4600g and using on board graphics. So when I get the 7800xt in I was considering putting the 1060 6gb in with the ryzen 5 4600g but was wondering if it was worth it or to just stick with the on board graphics from the processor??????
Yes, it will beat it. It will absolutely smoke it, it's not even close.
i use this in my streaming pc and use it for lm studio locally
I5-4590, ddr3 8gb ram, GTX 1060 6gb is what I'm currently using.
Tried playing Spiderman Remaster and the experience is so bad it makes my eyes and head hurts even looking at my little bros playing.
I think I'm going to need a better processor, ram and motherboard for my GTX 1060 😢.
Can it support 4k or 8k
How about pair with I7-4790?
i'm interested in this too!
Pascal era was/is just absurdly good value compared to everything that came after. A lot of stuff aligned for this to happen, some very well optimized games helped it along but for a graphics card released in 2016 to still be useful is pretty crazy.
Won't see anything like it again, Nvidia aren't in the business of making products people won't upgrade quickly.
3 fans is such an overkill for this card.
I am way behind in gaming, I do not have much time to play so I play one game at a time. Currently finishing Witcher3 :D so guess what, I will be fine for at least 4-5 years untill I even reach Hogwarts on my Steam wishlist.
does 550 watts psu for this gpu is enough?
500 watts is the minimum needed to run this card, my 550 power supply caught on fire before I even purchased the card due to the PC being 13 years old, so I got a 700w power supply
@@Lazar-ox5bd stop spreading misinformation lmao the card pulls 120-160W u dont need more than 350W to run this altough its nice to have headroom.
just please stop talking if you dont know what u are saying,
easily.
you will never pull even close to 200W on the GPU
@@chasethefeel it's not simply misinformation: I didn't specify which card is used, i used an asus rog strix oc version of the 1060 6 gig, and THAT one requires minimum 500w, my apologies for not being specific in everything.
Where can I buy this in India , it's not available on Amazon , out of stock
Try 2nd hand/used marketplace
to be fair, the asus rog strix GTX 1060 is the biggest baddest fastest 1060 ever
The ones that we usually find for cheap with the single fan will not perform as well as this variant. I have reviewed nearly every 1060 on my channel
Also this version is so long it will not fit in some cases.
I bought a pc from a hobby computer builder for 200 euros included 16gb ddr4 3000mhz ram and ryzen 5 2600 and ROG Strix 1060 3 fan edition and a nice case and mobo etc. Honestly i am very satisfied with it's performance and how quiet and cool it stays. Using it on Freesync 1080p 75hz monitor its buttery smooth esp after i tweaked my windows 10 to be bloat free and more performance oriented. No Man's Sky runs 60FPS with reshade mix of high to med/low settings and pretty much every other game i play including emulators run at full fps without drops. Highly recommend this card esp if you are on 1080p 60 ~ 75fps range.
Forgot to mention i would advice to get an nvme/ssd for your OS and games and a 1TB or 2TB normal HDD for cold storage. This way you get smooth gaming experience and plenty of size.
I am commenting early on in the video...I think the 6600 is better atm...I still have my zotac 2 fan mini 1060 which I upgraded to a 2070 super and now use a 3090 evga ftw3 ultra...so I have a unicorn. I now want to finish the video and see how it ends.
I bought a low end pc for 200$ with this card and i5 6400,I'm excited to to try Hogwarts legacy and cyberpunk 2077
How did you manege to run 110 fps on mw2 mine only gets 80fps
All in the settings brother! I had to run pretty low settings with AMD fsr 1.0 on
it's fine if you can get it for like 60 bucks and don't want to run anything more than like Cyberpunk
thats what i been saying, this will sound full of myself but i told yallll
though i came from a console i play high or maxed because im just as good even at 60-100 fps but everything looks amazing
1060 is going to become next 750ti
I have that card. Upgrading to RTX 4070 Super next week... maybe.
I bought the strix 1 for 75 euro lol
very nice!

so many fps drops this gpu not iven run normal lowest grapic games in 2024
I average 70 fps in 1080p in Cod multiplayer w/ ultra settings
rx 7600 is best choice
