- We ran tool tests with DEWALT’s POWERSTACK 20V MAX Compact Battery in comparison to a standard 2.0 Amp hour 20 volt max battery pack with lithium-ion cylindrical cells and the PowerStack (DCBPO34) with lithium ion pouch cells and it Clearly Out Performs standard xr packs. We even ran a Dewalt power tools test with DeWalt’s Power Stack compared against a HUGE 15AH 20/60 volt FlexVolt Lithium-Ion Battery in rotary hammers drilling concrete! We drilled holes in 2X lumber and cross cut with a circular saw! Watch the full video for all specifications, and results of our testing, but we will tell you that this array of stacked lithium pouch battery cells instead of traditional cylindrical lithium ion battery cells Changes the Power Tool Industry forever. #DewaltNextDimension #DeWALTTOUGH #VeryCoolGang

DeWalt is definitely bringing the heat when no one else is right now. First the DCF850 and now PowerStack? This is a great time to be a DeWalt guy.
Flex has literally the same thing.
@@jdisdetermined but such a small variety compare to dewalt 🤟🏼
@@CesarPerez-is3eb Plus Dewalt is world wide and already popular in the EU, where Milwaukee is only just gaining ground last 5 years and Flex is non-existent.
@@jdisdetermined they may have vaguely announced they were doing some form of pouch cell battery, but they haven’t officially announced it yet and DeWalt still has the smallest impact driver to date. Flex if really nice, but I’m in a battery platform and won’t jump ship for something unless it’s significantly better. Besides, I’m just a DIYer.
@@jdisdetermined no they don’t lol. Show me
Sean was the man. Knows his industry and what he's representing very well. Not annoying, pushy or overselling anything. Plus he just looks like he's actually used tools outside of a lab before. I liked him more than most. Thanks gentlemen. 👍
U know fuck all just like Sean
These are Li-Po batteries
Die hard Milwaukee guy but this new Dewalt tech is impressive.
I'm sorry! Guess you'll just have to wait till Milwaukee COPIES Dewalt, and can't clown on Dewalt ever again 🤣🤣🤣
Glad you're finally just hearing about the Powerstack battery. I mean..... took a while... but finally getting some info on here 👊
Cuz, take a gander cause you ain’t gonna believe the performance of da little guy!
Battery's have the highest markup
Cuz ya know our cuz Vince is coming in 2nd on the DeWalt. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH. DANG CUZ. 😂
@@kentuckybeardsman I'm just glad he is finally in the game Kentucky.... you know the saying, better late than......whatever 🤣 OHHHHHHHHH!!!
@@VCGConstruction its a beast!
Wow! It’s looks like DeWalt has hit a home run with this technology upgrade! The “beast mode” tests with that band saw was awesome. Not only did that battery crank out some power but that band saw didn’t slow down. Awesome demo’s and great video as always! 👍🏻
Thanks ZZ, gotta admit I was thoroughly impressed! What do you think about the direction of Dewalt, will they be a competitor to Milwaukee?
@@VCGConstruction I think Milwaukee has set the bar for their competition but as time goes on, the competition has not given up. In your last impact driver video, the new DeWalt atomic series was catching up to the Gen 3. I think it’s time Milwaukee debut some new offerings to raise the bar higher!
I gotta get that band saw. Got the 6.5 inch skill saw free after buying g 2 power stack batteries for $199. The same is regularly $219. Thanks dewalt.
Appreciate you bringing up about the whole rc car situation. They definitely got it right. The extra layer they added keeps it super safe. Great content Vince
I been waiting for this day
I’ll be late on Dewalt, I’m still a beginner. I started off with Ryobi, but now that I see this. I’m excited to get my hands on the Dewalt tool sets. Thanks for the vid!
gratz. the guys use ryobi tools at work and theyre always smoking then i come in with my 60v stuff. no one can compete
Man forget that Ryobi. Go online right now they have insane specials. You can get the big big combo kit for 50% off right now. Or they have the spend 200 get a free tool. Spend 400 get 2, spend 5 get 3 right now. I’ve stocked up my collection again for my guys this week.
Ryobi is a decent company that has great customer service. But Dewalt is simply made for bigger and harder jobs. I personally use the 40v Ryobi for yeard work and love them. But I use 20v dewalt for my actual work.
So what about the flexvolt line? Is there 60v power stacks? And are their bigger sizes , AH speaking?
Can you us it on the “DEWALT 1800 Watt Portable Power Station and 20-Volt/60-Volt MAX Lithium-Ion Battery Charger”, and use these instead of the flex volt battery?
Can’t wait for those things to hit the shelves December 1st. Looked like a huge difference between the two batteries power wise, especially using the spaddle bits. Love those DEWALT spaddle bits. No way your bending the shank on one of those bad boys. Thanks for video Vince. 👍
Just make sure you use a sharper spade bit when trying the new battery and it will perform the same
@@calebz1448 What point are you trying to make?
Very cool and cant wait to see higher capacity versions in the future.
Yes I'm wondering how long the ps and the flexvolt would do.
Dude, I love how excited you get. It’s like as if I was there, I would act just like that
Im not sure how this battery will preform but i trust dewalt. I been using dewalt tools for years now and am super happy with what they do. Just can't wait for a power stack flexvolt.
My impact just died after 7 months of regular use from new.
DeWalt just lost me as a loyal customer. I'm buying batteries and chargers of the big three and buying tools not by brand but by quality
@@jonathangarzon2798 warranty it out. You got 3 years they'll give you a brand new one.
That's gonna be nuts.
Its a pouch cell, its more expensive than cylindrical and less physically durable but it has a stronger chemistry and its in a more efficient shape for packing and low resistance but dont expect it to last longer than flex volts in the same conditions.
@@odisy64 All they have to do is make the outside durable. Less connections too. Instead of 10+ cells each with 2 connections, it's just a couple
Vince acting like a kid in a Lithium-Ion Pouch Cell candy store.
curious to see how milwaukee responds after makitas 40 volt and now powerstack. Exciting times in the industry!
We are living in the Golden Age for tools. It is fun and exciting. And pricey too.
They already did
@@paedahe4975 I would argue that for the performance of modern power tools they are incredibly cheap.
Not all brands gets deep discounts. For instance MAC, Snap-On, Matco...
Would love to see these brands chop prices someday.
Hopefully it’s battery kits on sale. Ha ha ha.
So - the “Black Friday” deals on the ‘old style’ batteries are to get rid of them??
Yup. Same reason Milwaukee is having deals on the XC5.0 and includes the XC5.0 in the kits. Too many of them, and the CP3.0 HO battery actually has the same power in a lighter package.
Makita 18v has tanked in price very recently like by alot. 40v on the move and new battery tech probably fueling the mood.
@@l00nybin are the xc5.0 still alright batteries for power tools? I mean they come in the Black Friday kits with the m18 fuel drill sets. Would it still be an acceptable battery?
@@hyagosilveira987 They're not bad, but they're older technology. They are 18650 cells, and the High Output CP3.0 batteries (21700 cells) provide just as much power and runtime while weighing less. Milwaukee is trying to clear them out, which is why those are the ones included in so many combo kits.
Finally a tool company using there brain with batteries.

Super impressive, can't wait to get my hands on that Powerstack LITTLE BEAST battery!
How awesome to see Sean, the driving force behind the Powerstack development. Great video, Vince.
When is Milwaukee coming out with theres?
That was beyond impressive! Look out Milwaukee!
I'm a DeWalt man but you gotta admit thanks to Milwaukee's pressure we benefit from DeWalt having to always step their game up to compete
Great demos on multiple tools showcasing the new PowerStack - especially at 9:43, running the drill on Speed 2 …
Looks like the same battery tech in my kids RC car lipo battery and that RC is 4 or 5 years old, still its great to see battery tech move forward and I'm looking forward to the 8ah+ versions of this powerstack.
But is there only one size people usually get the bigger batteries so they’re tool last longer between having to swap batteries or charge the batteries
Always bringing the best Vince!
Wow actually pretty impressed this DeWalt stuff is really starting to look good.
Thanks Ronnie, we appreciate it!
Dewalt going full Beast mode 🤙🏻
Next level of battery technology!! Exciting to look toward the future of power tools!

Vince is like a kid on Christmas morning.
Great video! Nice how you got one on one with Sean very knowledgeable! Audio was great! 👍
Better tech and I don’t have to buy new tools… love it
Wow, I am just stunned at how much the battery tech really makes or breaks a tool's overall performance. I wonder if Milwaukee has anything similar in their vault they are awaiting to come out with if they haven't already...
Is the new atomic tool line going be better than the XR line?
I'm glad I waited til now to update my entire cordless tool arsenal. Just got all Atomic impacts, driver,3/8 and 1/2". Waiting on 3/8" ratchet. Box stores in my area don't have the the Power Stack yet, Going to have to order it. Great video and content 👌🏻
This battery along with new 12 v and atomic will really help mechanics and trade with smaller tools.
honestly impressive for a sub 2ah pack. i just bought the atomic drill, impact driver, and 3/8 wrench also got a power stack for the new tools i already have the 5ah packs and a 3ah pack for my older dewalts so pretty excited for the new tools
Thanks for the video Vince. I'm looking forward to trying out this new DeWalt battery technology.
yo ozz happy new year
Curious to see how this pack is going to dump the heat with no airspace around the cells. I can get a 5ah battery very hot with a continuous use larger tool.
It's very interesting that they found a way to have flat cells like that even though they aren't LiPo
Hi Vince, very interesting demonstration all the way around, this power stack is unbelievable, very strong and cutting your time in half, that’s money in the pocket, extraordinary quality product from dewalt, ty, Bob,
@VCG the new informational KING!!! LOVE YOUR CONTENT!!!👍👍
Great job on the interview Vince !!! Another fantastic video
Thanks Scott!
How about a battery and/or an adapter to work with older DeWalt tools??? Especially the 18v line.
Nice. I like full power, compact size, and light weight. I don't need the same battery to last all day before a recharge. You won't see me running 5Ah batteries on an impact. I'd rather cycle through a few smaller, lighter packs.
Your the man vince I've literally been able kit my self out with all the best tools based on your channel keep up the good work I'm definitely getting the powerstack 👍💪
Thanks Seamus, I’m glad our content is helpful!
Do these work with the XR line of tools?
Would the powerstack battery fit into dewalt landscaping tools, like the brush cutter and the lawnmower?
So there using cell phone batteries now. How long will they last compared to the 18650 or 21650 batteries normally used?
Will it come to the 12v platform.
Nice to see something exciting from Dewalt, and Vince being excited about it lol
The cabal has spoken and DeWALT will be making all the moves for 2022!
Vince, so what am I doing? Am I going with the Dewalt system or the Milwaukee?
For starters I need a standard drill.
what are those tool expo’s called ?
Do you think power stack will come to the flexvolt line.
Awesome question I was reading the comments I'm thinking how to ask something like this
I would like to think so, but I have a theory why it may not!
@@VCGConstruction let's here it
Or make a video of it 👍
Proud of dewalt & myself right now, I've never strayed from them all these years & they've never let me down either ... & now more than ever we're both justified for doing so👏
Thank you.

You are the best consumer
Hey Vince, which compact rotary drill is this you're running at 4:36?
Did some research last night, it's the Dewalt DCH172 but I can't seem to find any reviews in english.
Vince, review please!!!
Impressive demo great new battery tech.
Looks nice. But are you able to change the cells if it does die on you. ??.
So are they not going to release a new XR impact driver and just focus on the atomic series?
does it make the impact wrench more powerful? how much more torque???
If you've ever ran an 887 impact with a big ol 9ah flexvolt battery (forgot to put the other batteries to charge 😅), you'll definitely appreciate what this powerstack tech brings to the table
It brings exactly zero noticeable difference other than shorter run time. I have never seen a 2 amp outperform a 4 amp both in the same voltage. It is a marketing scheme and nothing can beat the versatility of 4 and 5 amps for daily 20v use (unless you don't use it professionally then who cares). Once upon a time m18 2.0 amps were the same size as dewalts 4 amps so eventually you may find a 4 amp the size of current 2 amps but a smaller amp battery is not the answer
@@calebz1448 "a 4amp the size of a 2 amp" is exactly what I'm looking for. Guess my example wasn't all too clear.
@@jnieto490 I understood completely when I said that a smaller amp(performance) battery in addition to its SMALLER size is not a fair compromise. I do not think this power stack brings anything to the table besides the marketing gimmick it is. Tools will not be innovated at the rate they were in the far and recent past because they can all take turns introducing new tech and getting copied instead of each doing the work. Corporate laziness
@@calebz1448 disagree, high power draw tools do much better with high amp batteries. Noticeable even with drivers
Big question, the new power stack compair to the 2 ah and up
I love my Dewalt tools. I’m a 40 year roofing contractor and DeWald has been my go to for many years now. I hated the 18 V line, they were sht. These 20 V tools with the extended run and high amperage batteries are as good as it gets. Also like Milwaukee but I’ve chosen Dewalt for my platform
What about flex also using pouch cell batteries? If dewalt developed this did the license it to flex?
So what AH does the new power stack battery come in, cause the old style battery’s have that labeled on it and I haven’t seen any labeling for that in the new battery’s
I would like to know when are they coming out so I can buy some
Great video I’m sold. Vince face at 13:12 getting to use the other tool lol 😂
Hello, have you already dealt with the dch 172 model because I'm just wondering if 172 or 273.
How does the dewalt atomic line (with & without powerstack) compare to ryobi hp tools?
How long do we have to,wait for the flexvolt version? Hopefully very light weight?
Wonder if they will use the same technology for flex volt batterys
Hello again Vince and Vcg
Thank you for another Great Video 👍
Thanks for watching George!
Vince can you, see if Dewalt has any plans for a next generation of tracksaw?
PowerStack looks awesome Vince I’m gonna have to get myself some
I love how excited Vince gets about tools. Never fails to make me want to build something!
Great video Vinny! Good to see some VCG content! Almost didn't recognize you without the glasses 😎
Boom VCG in the house with Vince rocking the mic with the questions and reviews...💯👍
What is the biggest ah powerstack, and can it be used in a 60v dewalt trimmer that needs a flexvolt?
So because the powerstack has 50% more power do this mean a 5ah powerstack is equel to having a 10ah flexvolt ?
Is that Kruger construction in the background?
Kruger was in the house, that dude grinds for his community. Dude didn’t stop the entire time he was at the show! Got a lot of respect for that guy!
just wanting to know if they come in the 12v line I just bought the extreme impact and drill with the sawzaw
I like the way this makes Atomic or even XR compact tools almost into a 12v form factor
So another video I watched shows the powerstack outperforming a 2ah, yet the 5ah battery outperformed the powerstack, so if this video shows powerstack outperforming flexvolt, which one is true?
Do you know if any equipment that have to use the flex volt still would require flex on or can use a power stack?
I’m surprised he’s not wearing he’s Milwaukee very cool gang shirt on the Dewalt booth lmao.🤣
You think they’ll make a flexvolt version of the power stack @VCG Construction
"You're going to see these corporation demonstrations show the same result". Why anyone would believe 1.7 amp battery could outcompete a flexvolt is beyond me in marketing schemes
I'm waiting for the sneaky marketing ploy with these. Lithium pouch cells do outperform cylindrical cells in terms of *power* density (i.e peak Watts the cell can deliver in the moment) however run-time is simply the rating in amp hours with any battery.
I'm not too excited about them, pouch cells are generally less robust in terms of mechanical durability and life span in charge cycles.
do you get the same power/ battery life benefits if you're using the XR max series? or is it mostly atomic that gets the most of the new battery?
So, does the powerstack battery need a certain kind of charger, or can i use the charger that came with my 20 volt XR brushless DeWalt 1/2" drill driver?
You can use standard or rapid chargers
Does the flex volt have different charger to the normal 18 volts ones
Go Vince!
Been working out huh?
I see those "Guns", lol.
The PowerStack is impressive.
Still waiting for Milwaukee's offering.
They're Late to the party!
I noticed that too
@@JazielR The guns or the Party, lol
Wonder how many cells they have in the batteries and what the C “discharge” rating is. I bet they won’t release that due to the competition but I’m sure it will come one eventually.
5 in series at 1.7Ah each. Standard "20V" which is actually 18V nominal.
C rate of these cells in the real world is never more than 40C. What RC Lipos advertise is absolute bullshit. Wayne Giles ESR Meter tells the truth.
Dewalt set the trend of using cell pouch..other tools will definitely have their own version of power stack
This might be a patented technology, if so it will be awhile until other brands get them.... unless the battery company owns the patent then I'm sure they'll want to sell to every one... but from the sound of it " a collaborative venture" I'd guess they'll be some what exclusive for at least a few years
will the PowerStack give the string trimmer a boost
The atomic line is subpar to the XR line. Do you remember your review of the atomic line of tools last year
when do they hit the stores
Do the new powerstack batteries work on flexvolt tools?
Great work Dewalt very well done keep it up
Hey, … what do you make of the 1.7 ah rating?????? Do I go in on it for $179 big ones for 2,??? Is it doing more work than my XR 5ah?
Did they mention if there will be a 60V version?
