Would love to see a series of Caleb Pike sculptures, or to watch G. Undone take all those extra packages and just make some sort of Frankenstein contraption, *(Ed Keinholz style) - or to see Make Art Now do a Lynchian David Holzman's Diary. I wanna see the Art y'all make with all this wonderful tech more. Bob Ross style?
DSLR Video Shooter, your videos are straightforward, offered like someone indeed doing a job. That's something that I like about your channel, presented with polish, but remaining no nonsense. Yet, like Gerald Undone, you've earned the standing to mix things up some.
Heraldo Desecho is my spirit animal. I loved the profound stillness of the opening and the flutter of wild thoughts and observations throughout the video. I loved the characteristically truth commentary and earnestly that you bring to your product videos but in this new form. I related to so much of this, I'm proud of you buddy. Do more of this, more more more-- or don't. We love whatever you do, you could do data entry for 40 minutes and we'd still watch. You've earned it.
Josh kinda summed it up. And if people will listen to the two of you go down the rabbit holes on 'not a podcast', I'm sure they'll watch other equally exciting things.
What ever your future plans are, I do hope you two continue with your "Not a Podcast." It's become a favorite of mine. Both of you do amazing work on your own and you two compliment each other well.
Well done Gerald, this is spot on and a really great edit. It’s so rare to have someone being so genuine on camera with their words and being themselves whilst doing it. Too many put on a “RUclips” persona whilst talking to camera, when all they should be doing is be themselves. When it feels real, when it feels genuine, when you cut through the artifice you connect with your audience. It’s that connection that makes people feel like they know you, it makes people think of you as a friend, it makes you want to listen to what they have to say instead of moving to the next video. Of course this style isn’t for every video, part of the power of it is how unexpected it is. It’s the most un-Gerald Undone video you’ve made but it’s also ironically the video that is the most Gerald you’ve made. The Gerald that I know and am lucky to call my friend. Make the essential tech reviews, you enjoy them when when you enjoy the product. Do them for things that are special. For the rest? Well they can always be integrated more casually into different sorts of videos. When you enjoy making the videos that’s when we will enjoy them the most too. It’s important to get out of your comfort zone, but it’s just as important to come back into it. You will find that balance, I believe in you, and by doing so you will be much happier because of it. Remember, make videos because you want to, not just because you have to.
Thanks for the video @gerald undone and @philip bloom for this comment. I can totally relate to this also and needed to hear (and read) what you've both shared here. 🙏
ugggh, I can relate to this brother! Becoming a slave to what you love is the tension so many of us on RUclips face everyday. thanks for posting this and calling some of the struggles out
So on point! I'm totally down for this new Gerald era and I related to this so much also. I think it's so easy to get jaded in any job you have. The same routine can kill the human spirit and the joy for the process. Lately, I've also had the same feeling of getting stuck into the idea of having a perfect script for my tutorial content and also appealing the sponsor on time. I also have the fear that doing something different maybe won't work. But also the fear of doing the same thing all the time I think is definitely worse. The best things come from change. Thanks for inspiring me to also address this and join in on a more authentic future! You're awesome, Gerald. Remember that, I certainly look up to you and your view!
Oh man, hit me right in the feels with this one. Having fun is so crucial to be able to sustain making these RUclips vids. I’ve declined storyblocks and sponsors so many times because of that specific reason that you mentioned. This video was so good by the way! And as you know, my studio is open anytime man. I’ll fill the fridge with beer.
Bruh...Very real. You've more than earned the right to experiment. Creating on RUclips is a constant process of evolution. What you create 4 years from now will be very different than what you do today. As long as you keep that genuine spirit, your audience will rock with all of your evolutions.
@@geraldundone Yeah D4Darious is right, but I know the feeling, working in community management (for 10 years now), and I think that this system of internet creation corner us into that mild depressive state that kind of chain us to our succes. I call it depression 2.0, very difficult to shake while still doing your job and being trapped in it can lead to a real burn out... You have to allow youself to experiment and be free and it will show. The video that illustrate that for is this one from Dave2d : ruclips.net/video/JKx9P1F8pww/видео.html Seeing him this happy makes me happy even if I don't care one bit about transformers and it's far from what he normally does. But I could watch this anytime. Love you both
Dude thanks for making this, thanks for opening up and being so real here! Sometimes doing this whole RUclips thing feels like a solo struggle until I see a friend make a video like this. So relatable. I think Its important to make stuff you want to make AND you enjoy making or else burn out is inevitable. Looking forward to following your experiments whatever they may be!
Thanks for starting this conversation Gerald. I was gonna say I really felt this video, then I saw the comments section filled so many creators whose videos I watch regularly expressing similar - just proves how close this hits to home.
I relate so much to this entire video. And I’m also currently in my end of month storyblocks crunch time, and I already messaged you to tell you this but now it’s in a comment online as well.
Almost brought me to tears watching this. I felt my life week to week was just "What is the next video going to be" and I didn't want to live in that box anymore, to live in the fear that changing or stopping would mean the end of my business life as I know it. Thanks for your transparency and keep making real, authentic videos like this. I'll watch every time.
Sasser, you made a big splash-unique and authoritative content-and then vanished, I noticed. Maybe the RUclips machine just isn't for you, as there aren't but so many ways to rehash what you've already done so expertly. Your content lives on.
This is a very special short film in its own right. Melancholic, yet not depressing. Quite the opposite of depressing, actually. And it doesn't matter how much work was put into it, the film still feels genuine. You have a natural talent, Gerald. Stay crazy!
"Great shows never run too long, and I think I'd like to do a different show now." I can tell it was almost like a weight off of your shoulders getting that out. I appreciate you, Gerald. We all do. I'm a very real person that's learned a lot of very valuable things from your show. Without your show and other shows like yours it would be a lot harder for people like me to be able to pursue photo/video full-time. Thank you.
I really loved this Gerald. But the fact that I even used the word "enjoyed" speaks to what exactly the problem is. As creators, or those of us that do this for a living, we don't have KPIs or goals like someone with a traditional job. Our metrics are often rated in views, engagement, and likes. This pushes us to create the things that get the most of those things. This, is often, at the opposite end of where our creativity pushes us. Trying to appease the audience and our own creativity is tough and often results in the burnout we so often hear about. We often hide ourselves for fear that people will not like who we are, but instead the persona they see on the screen. I trust you will find that place.
I think we can all relate with what you're going through man. I posted something similar today out of frustration. I hope you enjoy making the new show. I'll be tuning in for sure.
You've perfectly vocalised what's been in my head for a long time. It's so refreshing to see "RUclipsrs" what I watch feel the same. For what it's worth, I'd love to see more content of you sharing your thoughts on life, business and youtube.
Thanks for being so vulnerable in this episode. Humanizes the man behind the camera tech. You should come on our show! Alan's been a fan for a long time!
I think every RUclipsr ever can relate to these thoughts. Me personally I definitely gave myself the permission to experiment and go out from just “filmmaking”. I think even the idea of “filmmaker” has completely changed since I started and leaned much more to content creator. But yea take a break, change things up and learn to enjoy it again 🙌🏻
Dude, please experiment as much as you want! You’re the pinnacle of tech camera breakdowns. End of the day, it’s your channel and you should do whatever you want on it. If you’re feeling the current format is stale, you should do whatever creatively inspires you.
the is the same struggle I'm experiencing right now...actully for a long while. I need to break out something new but stay within the same content. It's NOT easy.
Definitely don’t feel bad for wanting to experiment and do some things outside of your usual format. I don’t think anybody expects any person to keep doing the same thing day in and day out for years. We’re people too - we understand how tedious it can be. I’m sure all of us have had jobs that started out exciting but that we lost our spark for. Glad you made this video, friend! I think the rest of the comments here prove that your viewers care more about your well-being than they do about having the same format constantly.
My favorite Gerald video yet, honestly feels impossible to find on this platform and here you just laid it out and it was the nicest breath of fresh air.
literally, came to youtube just thinking, “i wonder what all my friends are thinking about youtube and making stuff” and then you posted this! thank you man. needed it.
I've been quietly following every single one of your video almost a year and a half now, even to sing the song "it's craaaazy" out loud at the beginning of each of them, and today I lost a hero, but feels like I got a friend. Being honest might be the most valued thing on the internet today and thanks for being wide open on your thoughts and share the creative struggle with us, "get crazy" my friend.
How refreshing to hear something so candid and revealing. You had me at "Why am I so afraid..." You have provided us with a view into your personal life that we on RUclips rarely see. Do what makes you happy and we will follow you.
Gerald, I thought I’d throw this out there. If you think I watch your videos because of the products you review, then you are mistaken. Sure, my relationship with this channel started out because of the tutorials and some reviews, but eventually it became about you and your personality. That’s what makes Gerald Undone special. I watch every one of your videos that I catch on my subscription feed for you and I will continue to watch and support anything you put out because I enjoy your candidness, quirkiness and sense of humor. (And your jingle 😆) Keep your head up, my man!
I built a business for ten years and while I just started my RUclips channel, I can see how you end up thinking what you’re thinking. Most entrepreneurs could probably relate, not just RUclipsrs. What’s helped me over the years is to always be thinking how my business is a tool to serve MY needs and not me serving it. When I made the decisions to make it serve me and cater to my needs, the business grew better. Probably because I had more focus and clarity. Change is good.
So much honesty and transparency in this. Really enjoyed it. I am still finding my way as I have been doing the tech realm for almost 3 years. After watching this I fear that I will get stuck in a rut or get burned out. I learned from your story. Looking forward to your next chapter!
Great video Gerald. Mix it up and keep growing. There’s nothing wrong with doing something new or letting go of things you don’t enjoy. Lasting long term on here has to be interesting for you as a creator. The burn out is real. I’m tipping that folks will support you either way. 😎👍
At least we didn't get the typical clickbait title... "I'M QUITTING!" I appreciate the honesty. I'm an independent videographer and when I get burnt out I go create something just for fun, not paid. And a lot of times those fun, passion driven videos turn into paid work for me. Just an idea for anyone in the field always creating for other people.
Where is the review!? Unsubscribe. You’ve changed man. The money and views have gone to your head ;) haha. Jokes man. I love you this was very relatable.
Gerald, I'm not able to say the same as others commenting on this video that I've experienced what you have or feel the same way. I'm new to this and therefore have no insight. I do however know that it takes a lot of courage to talk this way. Being open, vulnerable. This is so important for people to communicate how they feel and I just want to give you props and to thank you for being genuine. I appreciate your tech reviews but I think you being you is the best for your followers. Keep it up and do what's best for YOU!
I love this! I don’t have my own RUclips channel (…yet), because my full time job is 60+ hours most weeks and I still want to have some semblance of a family life. But I FEEL THAT! I shoot and edit 5-6 videos weekly and it’s so easy to get into a creative rut where you just do the same things over and over again because it works. There’s nothing wrong with being consistent, but I always wonder… “When I’m getting bored of this stuff, is our audience also getting bored?” Lots of things to consider, but I like your thought process. Have fun with the experiment! 🙌
Gerald, this is my favorite video that you've done. There's no point in making more money if you're less happy doing it. Do what makes you happy and the audience will find you in time. I can't wait to see the future experiments!
I love this and feel it even as a smaller channel with sponsors and tech reviews. Once you find what “works” it’s so hard to deviate. Thanks for making this and inspiring me to think outside the box.
This is actually a video that i may play at 75% for how good and real it is! I feel you and many creators here do. I still did not reach this point with RUclips but i can see it coming oneday and i hope i will be able to figure out a way around it! Keep making great honest videos (formal or informal) and we will keep watching! Regards from Egypt 🇪🇬
I seriously think you're one of THE BEST technical RUclipsrs on the platform, but I would genuinely listen to whatever you're talking about. You have a great personality and people come just for that itself. Considering expanding into another channel or providing series for this one that are more personal/etc. So you feel the freedom to explore your interests beyond tech and to experiment as you feel without worrying about it impacting the traction of your main channel
I feel the struggle my man. What ever you decide to post I will watch, I'm here for you not the products you review in my case I can't afford half of them I got here for the filming tips and stayed for more than 2 years ;)
Man this is so refreshing and I really relate... I'm 4-5 years deep on youtube and I've been struggling with burn-out. This was a great video and I'm glad I'm not alone with this struggle. BTW: I just moved up near your area, I think we have a few mutual creator-friends.
I’m only 4:30 into the video and mate you should do what ever makes you happy. But if you wondering if you should continue. Your one of the best and most in depth reviewers for gear and video. I bought 3 Sony A7siii’s on your recommendation. I feel like you would influence a lot of people and helping them making the right decisions for them. You do a great job and I hope you keep doing that.
I had a whole bunch of stuff I wanted to write, in an effort to try to relate your experiences to my experiences, but I kept typing and deleting them, not really feeling satisfied with any of it. I think ultimately I was just trying to say: Thank you for this video Gerald.
I can't thank you enough, I was letterly having the same thoughts towards content, I just wish I can push the REC and start talking like I'm talking to a friend, no script, no words that I have to mention, no right or wrong, no performing ... I was mad because I spent the last 3 hours trying to sit in front of a camera and talk, but then I decided to have lunch and watch RUclips and suddenly I end up watching this and feeling better ... so thank you!
That was amazing! You're definitely one of my favourite content creator and I've learned so much thanks to your hard work. I totally relate to the struggle between doing the same stuff or experimenting new things. Keep up the amazing work. Whatever you'll do, people will support you. Thank you.
Absolutely love this side of you!! This is all def something I think about on the constant, so thank you for posting this. I was debating a thousand times about making a second channel just because certain videos wouldn't really fit the "filmmaking" or "tech review" niche. Then I over think and feel like I'm quitting or letting people down. Slowly, I've been learning to open up a lot more with my content and I'm happy to see you in your raw element too. Just feels like we are hanging out. I'm here to support your change whatever direction you decide to go with. The real ones are here for you as a person. just remember.
Very relatable. As someone that first came to your channel to research how I might upgrade my gear and space, I’m not going away if you change it up. In fact I’ll probably be more likely to check in and see what you’re up to.
Hey Gerald! Long time viewer, first time commenter here. Really enjoyed this video! I know we're both doing very different things on RUclips but I absolutely relate to that feeling like you can't experiment once you've found your thing. Just wanted to say I really enjoy what you do and I look forward to whatever you put out, whether it's the "old" format or something new!
Great video Gerald, this is very much like being a musician and hitting a creative plateau on your instrument. For those of us with smaller channels, the struggle to evolve is the motivation to keep going but, larger channels like yours have an inherent expectation of content/quality that I can only imagine is overwhelming at times. From a musical perspective, the solution to that burnout that looks like it's just over the horizon, is discovery. Discovering new artists and new ways of playing or soloing opens what first looked to be a pretty narrow field of view. Musically speaking, being around other creators and players and experiencing their creative process or result can often inspire new directions. Nothing kicks your ass creatively like hearing new music or seeing an amazing new film filled with choices you would never make ordinarily.
I've been watching you for years but probably only left a few comments. You make great thorough videos that help lots of people. You also have a very dedicated and engaged audience. Just look at all the comments. I would make the change, even if it gives some short-term pain. Now I just need the courage to make my own changes. Loved the video man!
You could upload a 15 minute video of yourself making a sandwich and I’d still watch Gerald. This existential angst means your next big evolution is about to take place. Exciting times.
I feel like MakeArtNow has achieved this. Not only with his short films, but every video he puts out has a different structure, pacing and feel to it. It depends on your type, but as a big lover of RUclips and what it has given me, I'd love to see you guys experimenting and making more art instead of the lifeless, consumeristic gear reviews.
You could certainly delete "Tech" from the title. This is the RUclips experience for all creators at some point. Love the raw take and also what you provide for so many creators 💪
I’ve always loved your analytical take on tech for some time Gerald. Part of what makes your videos so great is, YOU. Regardless of how you evolve the “show” it will still be you, and that consistency is why you’ll be just fine. You’ve expressed a sentiment every other creator in the comments can relate with, me included. Evolution is necessary for creative development my friend, don’t be afraid to explore.
This video is so very relatable as a RUclipsr who struggles with deadlines (we got into this not to have deadlines ha) and as someone who doesn’t want to be doing to same thing year after year. We’ve been lucky that the pandemic has pushed us to pivot in unexpected ways and so far our audience has been loving those changes, but taking those chances are scary and tough. The good news is that you get real time feedback and are not creating or committing to a season of television before someone sees your content. I am in no place to give you advice but if I were you I Would try new things and experiment, see what works and what connects. At the same time maybe still cover the things that excite you in the in-depth way you love and people expect, but have that be the event episodes, not the norm.
I really appreciate this, Gerald. Definitely have had similar thoughts even though my channel is still pretty small. It honestly can stop me from wanting to make new videos.
9:00 - Been struggling with that for a few years. I sometimes stop to think that it used to be a joy to create a video and i felt that, at some point, i could talk about anything that interested me and form a community of people that shares teh same interests. But nowadays it got so robotic, the videos need to be in specific ways to please an invisible algorithm and it needs to keep being more of the same over and over and over and if you dare to try something different, then you don't even have a chance of knowing if it will work because it won't even reach people. Don't get me wrong, i love RUclips for enabling me to do a full time job around games, wich i love, but i struggle more and more and more because those days where you could be yourself and do different stuff are kinda gone. And now what remains is this constant struggle within myself, being tired all the time, doubting everything i do and every new idea i have because i know that it doesn't matter. At the same time, it's my full time job, i have a wife, a 1 year old baby, and 8 years dedicated to this. I feel kinda lost and this video relates so much.
If more creators with a foundation like yours dare to experiment, Google’s algorithm will likely adjust to accommodate it. The fear of experimenting or pivoting is a self-fulfilling prophecy. The nexus needs to be broken by a bunch of brave, generous people like you and Gerald.
Dude I felt this one so much. Been subbed for a long time but this is my first time posting a comment. All of us filmmakers/youtubers feel the exact same as you at some point. You're in good company. So don't worry, you're doing great and you're on the right path! We all appreciate you!
So refreshing! Thanks for the honesty. It gives other creators confidence to not conform to a certain style or framework. ‘Never do this on RUclips! Always use these for RUclips! You’re not shooting in ____ for RUclips! Your export settings need to be this…’ and so on. You have a wealth of experience and whatever styles your videos take from now on, I’m sure you can educate, empower and be of interest to your audience and future subscribers. Don’t forget, we’re mainly watching you, because you’re watchable, not just because we’ve an interest in the product you’re reviewing. I hope this video sparks a trend for other leading RUclipsrs to post some content that has this same level of humility. Being raw is being real. Sure, it’s ok to keep that private and not create a video of it, but posting it can be freeing and support the idea that there are other ways. Good luck man
Absolutely loved this. Every second of it. For one, I'm happy you made it for you. I understand what you're going through, but on a much smaller scale. The "show" can go on for however long you want it to. The show can be there and another thing can live along side it in paralell. You ultimately decide. Who's to say that the other thing you want to try - doesn't obliterate what you're done before - in performance, money, fulfillment etc. Life is way too short, taking chances is scary, but that's what makes it worth trying in the first place.
Thank you for all your hard work over the years. I'm looking forward to seeing your new momentum of creativity. I think you will have a very enjoyable experience with this new focus.
Man, I now care about Gerald Undone more than I ever have. Tapping in to the emotional side of things really was touching and vulnerable. I am starting a RUclips series in October or November focused on helping people to discover how to turn their creativity into a rewarding career. Gerald has helped me already with all the equipment, hopefully one day he will be on my show to help spread creative mentorship. I’m excited. Thanks for this video Gerald.
One of the best, most honest and humble videos I've ever seen; not just on RUclips but anywhere. You just may have given me the strength to do my own videos. Thank you for sharing.
Very insightful discussion. Was super fun seeing the different angles and listening to a more authentic tone. Having fun and changing it up is incredibly important. I specifically don't let myself become beholden to just review content, because it's a never-ending grind and all of that work is fleeting the moment a new thing drops. My most memorable and helpful videos from you were not reviews, and the same is true of many channels. I will say, getting an agency that handles most of the sponsor negotiations and scheduling etc., taking that off my plate has made a world of difference. Side note: Empty apartment means more rooms for more casual sets!!!!
I once made an 8-bit style video just to see if I could, and it ended up being covered by news outlets and getting me a lot of (relative) attention. For the next few years I continued making them, but the fear and pressure mounted with each new video. Not only did I feel trapped by the (very time consuming) style, but I became very depressed if one of them didn't match the view counts of an earlier video. I remember being so scared to deviate from that style, almost like I'd be betraying my small number of subscribers.
I started my channel 1 year ago and this shit is tough man so I loved seeing this REAL video of someone owning their struggles. Preparing to "perform" as you put it, always creates some sort anxiety in me and I've come to just accept that. Thanks for an honest video! Looking forward to videos about helping others, I love that idea man! There are no rules to this, do whatever YOU want because ultimately that's why people have subscribed to you, for THE Gerald Undone 😀👍
My partner started following you when he started getting serious about growing his channel so I already sort of knew about you. He is a big fan. But it isn't until this video (and your autism one) that turned me into a fan too. I love, love the honesty and your willingness to try different things. You are an inspiration to me. Thank you for taking this leap and I look forward to seeing how far you'll grow.
I feel like this was a GREAT peek inside EVERY RUclipsr's (especially those of us who've been on the platform for a hot minute) brain and thought process. We started these channels and continue to run them because we are creative and inspired and #allthethings but then we get trapped in this "I have to do it this way or I won't be successful" thing and it's just not true. I've had several conversations on my channel this year about switching things up and doing things differently and it's scary and exciting and weird because old dog, new tricks and all of that. Anyway, people FIND you because of your content but people STAY because of YOU so just keep being YOU and they'll be here regardless.
This video come in such a great timing, on the same position as you are. And reading the comments where most of the comments came from also tubers says a lot about this video Thank you for sharing your thoughts
Why not make a weekly or monthly series of "Randoms". It could be anything from vlogs and studio tours to informal reviews and BTS... Or anything that inspires you at the moment. It would be a great way to break the patterns and experiment new styles and formats and you'd also get to gauge how your audience receives them. Personally, I'd watch those experiments. I have a much smaller channel and been dealing with the same dilemma.
After watching/listening the discussion with Lew, I'm not surprised you come up with this video. No matter what you'll do from now onwards, people are not watching your content because they love you, but because they TRUST you, which is the most valuable asset. Happy to be on board with the new Gerald Bon courage
Gerald, be brave & be bold! That is what got you the success you have experienced thus far. Your true audience will go with you. Thank you for your honesty, this was really heartfelt.
Probably the most genuine thing I've seen on RUclips. Thank you for sharing! As someone who's burned out 1.2 times due to my day job, I can totally relate. (The two 0.1 times were twice when I THOUGHT that I had burned out, the last one however rendered me incapacitated for two months and I'm still feeling the effects of it half a year later). Do what makes you happy!
The thing I felt the hardest was the "too many packages" hahaha. My life is BOXES - feels like a silly problem, but it is a real one nonetheless. Love your stuff dude, do whatever you want and never stop.
I really needed this conversation…validation…whatever that was. I know you made it for yourself (and Storyblocks) but you can tell from the comments that you inadvertently made this for so many others as well. Also, HUGE shoutout to Storyblocks for signing off on this video. That speaks volumes and I will continue to give them my money.
I started doing videography over a year ago at age of 29 and now doing it as a career. even at this point I sometimes feel forced. sometimes I feel my creativity is dying with stupid projects that I have to do to put meat on the table for my family and people just think its all fun and games. I totally understand you. I always felt you are the most genuine guy in here. you are a person, you have a character. and you are just yourself. it doesnt matter what kind of video you post or make. your videos wont define you. your charactersics and bravery of posting this video defines you.
you’ve been a huge help in getting small inexperienced creators like me set up and informed. thanks for being you Gerald. really appreciate it. feel bad its my first time actually expressing that. cant wait to see the upcoming changes. all is welcome
Been struggling with the same thoughts for years man. Thanks for the honest real video.
Indeed, what NF FI said. More art, less gear and reviews!
I guess many of us like both sides of the coin as long as it is you. A coin flips every now and then, right?
DSLR Video Shooter, your videos are straightforward, offered like someone indeed doing a job. That's something that I like about your channel, presented with polish, but remaining no nonsense. Yet, like Gerald Undone, you've earned the standing to mix things up some.
Heraldo Desecho is my spirit animal. I loved the profound stillness of the opening and the flutter of wild thoughts and observations throughout the video. I loved the characteristically truth commentary and earnestly that you bring to your product videos but in this new form. I related to so much of this, I'm proud of you buddy. 💜
Josh kinda summed it up. And if people will listen to the two of you go down the rabbit holes on 'not a podcast', I'm sure they'll watch other equally exciting things.
Well said- you’ve also significantly evolved since your first video Josh. Respect to you both 🙏🏼
yeah I draw the line at him explaining how to do a vlookup though
Wise words ❤️
Well said, sir... ❤️

Couldn’t have said it any better myself. I’m Peter Fritz, and I support this message.
Thank you, Philip, for this comment and much more. 🙏💜
Thanks for the video @gerald undone and @philip bloom for this comment. I can totally relate to this also and needed to hear (and read) what you've both shared here. 🙏
ugggh, I can relate to this brother! Becoming a slave to what you love is the tension so many of us on RUclips face everyday. thanks for posting this and calling some of the struggles out
Welcome to reality. This is what happens when you turn your hobby into your 9-5 bread and butter.
You alive dude? How you feeling???
I’m on my way for a beer
Fire up the barbie; I’ll be over this arvo.
@@chrisbrockhurst come on over 🤌🏼
can i come for beers
Bruh...Very real. You've more than earned the right to experiment.
Creating on RUclips is a constant process of evolution. What you create 4 years from now will be very different than what you do today.
As long as you keep that genuine spirit, your audience will rock with all of your evolutions.
Thanks, D. Appreciate you.
I second that. All of it.
The video that illustrate that for is this one from Dave2d : ruclips.net/video/JKx9P1F8pww/видео.html
Seeing him this happy makes me happy even if I don't care one bit about transformers and it's far from what he normally does.
I'm a big fan of your channel as well and I don't know how you guys pull it off and manage to have some sort of life.
Thanks for starting this conversation Gerald. I was gonna say I really felt this video, then I saw the comments section filled so many creators whose videos I watch regularly expressing similar - just proves how close this hits to home.
The trick to RUclips is doing it long enough to get traction while most importantly - staying sane. Enjoy your stuff man, keep experimenting!
Ey, Andrei! My technology and finance worlds are colliding! Now we just need MKBHD and Graham Stephan to comment too
I'd love to see an Andrei jikh studio undone. That'd be really cool
I'm always here to talk
I relate so much to this entire video. And I’m also currently in my end of month storyblocks crunch time, and I already messaged you to tell you this but now it’s in a comment online as well.
💜🙏👊
BTS inception
Omg is that THE driftwood Luts person??
Would be cool if storey blocks changes up the way you guys showcase their sponsorship ads . Big fan of you Jesse !
We can all relate to the struggle.
Stay crazy!
"Great shows never run too long, and I think I'd like to do a different show now."
I can tell it was almost like a weight off of your shoulders getting that out.
Omar! You're video was enlightening and interesting, too. And different than Gerald's but I felt it too, in a similar way.
I feel you hugely, it’s a great thing to break the cycle. Putting this here holds you accountable to doing it, you do you Gerald
It's NOT easy.
mate this was such a great video, so glad you put it out. been feeling the same stuff myself
Hi Ali, So nice to see you here.
Thanks for saying that. 💜🙏
My favorite Gerald video yet, honestly feels impossible to find on this platform and here you just laid it out and it was the nicest breath of fresh air.
literally, came to youtube just thinking, “i wonder what all my friends are thinking about youtube and making stuff” and then you posted this! thank you man. needed it.
🤓🙏💜
I've been quietly following every single one of your video almost a year and a half now, even to sing the song "it's craaaazy" out loud at the beginning of each of them, and today I lost a hero, but feels like I got a friend. Being honest might be the most valued thing on the internet today and thanks for being wide open on your thoughts and share the creative struggle with us, "get crazy" my friend.
How refreshing to hear something so candid and revealing. You had me at "Why am I so afraid..." You have provided us with a view into your personal life that we on RUclips rarely see. Do what makes you happy and we will follow you.
This speaks to me. Support you in whatever you choose. I’m over here trying something new too. LOVE YOU!
Amen, Gerald. I struggle with the same thing. Thanks for discussing so openly.
Hahaha, I mean it did get 90 dislikes already. Some people really do seem to think like that 🤣
lol that's what I'm here for. I just watch for detail camera breakdown. Especially since i just shoot Sony.
This is so great, and speaks to me on so many levels. Thanks Gerald. Perfectly authentic.
I love this and feel it even as a smaller channel with sponsors and tech reviews. Once you find what “works” it’s so hard to deviate. Thanks for making this and inspiring me to think outside the box.
That was a great honest video, man. RUclips needs more of this honesty from creators on this website.
I sang the jingle when the muted intro loaded up :-D
LOL. me too! Like Pavlov’s dogs I guess.
34 seconds in and im already hooked! Great opening statement.
Same with the Sony A7s3
I had a whole bunch of stuff I wanted to write, in an effort to try to relate your experiences to my experiences, but I kept typing and deleting them, not really feeling satisfied with any of it. I think ultimately I was just trying to say: Thank you for this video Gerald.
The Internet is a small place! I watched, related, and then saw your comment, Rodney. Love to you both. I know these feelings well.
@@actualol I am not surprised that you have such good taste in RUclips channels Jon - very cool to run into you here too.
“Great shows never run to long.” That warmed my heart and locked me into what ever you do next homie
are we at fast and the furious 69 yet?
"I'm struggling with that".
That's what I say often. I'm sure many of us can totally relate.
Love this video shift Gerald! The reason is totally understandable and breaking the pattern is always a great choice.
Keep innovating!
So much relatable in this - keep up the authenticity!
I really appreciate this, Gerald. Definitely have had similar thoughts even though my channel is still pretty small. It honestly can stop me from wanting to make new videos.
That exactly how I’ve been feeling about my channel,10 years this year. Thanks thanks for the real vid Gerald.
Totally agree. If you lose momentum it feels like failure. If you do what works, it feels like creative failure
Love it, Gerald. You have the personality to make it, well, undone.
I liked 80% of the videos I watched on your channel but…
I LOVED this one so much, keep it real Gerald.
Thank you so much for sharing! Both depressing and encouraging knowing that I'm not alone! Weekly struggles for sure!
And reading the comments where most of the comments came from also tubers says a lot about this video
Thank you for sharing your thoughts
Happy to be on board with the new Gerald
Bon courage
Gerald, be brave & be bold! That is what got you the success you have experienced thus far. Your true audience will go with you. Thank you for your honesty, this was really heartfelt.
My honest advice is to follow the path you feel is right.... but first send some of that stuff my way!
love this video! remember we subscribe to you, not the content, so make whatever you want
Love the honesty here Gerald 👍🏻
You're honest with your product reviews and this video here being honest about your struggle 👌🏾. Hope you find what you need.
Loved this man, it was so on point. Regardless of what you do you’ll have my support. I look forward to seeing the alter ego “Gerald Redone”.
