Great stuff but you mixed up the math on the PA5+/AG3+ with 2 RR. You missed calculating the RR for the chance of making the landing on the not superb throw. It should be 75% chance to make that landing with a RR and that would up the total chance of being successful to about 58% :)
@@BoneheadPodcastAnd I think the chance for nailing the superb landing should be 1 - ((2/6)x(2/6)) or roughly 89% chance not 83%. I think you calculated with the stunties having loner as well which would be the case for Crack and Crumbleberry and seeing how much you love them I can totally see how that error would happen ^^ Wither way it's great work you are doing and I love the content! :)
Great vid. Got back into BB recently after a 20+ year hiatus and this channel has been a goldmine. Looking forward to getting my Halflings back on the table now!
Thank you very much for your videos they are simply awesome. We have a discussion in my play group on what happens if the thrown player lands on a space occupied by another player... does it keep bouncing on other players until it lands on an unoccupied space? So it can destroy, luckily, an entire cage? Thanks in advance
Thanks Javier 😁😁 This got updated in the new edition!! 🤩 If your thrown player lands on another player - that dude is knocked down, and the thrown-player scatters again. And this is repeated until they land in an empty square (or go off the pitch). So you can, and *absolutely should*, throw players at cages! It’s Blood Bowl Bowling 🎳😏💥 If the thrown player does hit another player - they will automatically fail their landing roll however; so they’ll end up on the ground and take an armour roll!!
Thank you for clarifying those rules. I am currently in full-goblin league and we were kind of confused about the Doom Diver, flying like a dead leaf, and talking about the nerf on swoop. But now landing is so much better than before!
Your scatter calculations are only calculating the chances of all three scatters being "not backwards" or forwards. But one backwards with two forwards is still good overall. Chances of going each number of squares forwards/backwards are: 3 squares f/b: 5.3% 2 squares f/b: 10.5% 1 square f/b: 22.9% Even: 22.7% Total chance of not going backwards overall is 61.3%. Going forwards, even if by only one square, is 38.7%.
great follow up to the passing vid from last week. Managed to get a test game with my goblins this week and tried the 1 turn with the diver getting thrown in turn 1. burned 2 rerolls to have the troll reroll a 1 into a 2, so got a wild pass. still went forward 3 and then another reroll to have him stick the landing on 5s. He scooted forward only be blitzed by an ogre the following turn lol love goblins vs ogres games
This makes me so excited for my snotling team, and my renegades team. I might literally build a strong arm troll as a dedicated goblin flinger, of course you have two nega traits, but then again seeing him get eaten is almost as exciting as throw teammate itself!
Our recent League Championship was between Ogres and Snotlings. After a slog of a game the ogres were up 1-0 with the Snotlings getting the last turn. The snotlings picked up the ball, passed the handoff to a stilty, passed the Really Stupid, Passed the Always Hungry, Made the Superb Throw, scatter 3 forward, landed in a spot covered by 2 tackle zones, he made the 5+ to land, he then made the both dodge rolls to escape and ran in that endzone to force the game into overtime. All of that with no rerolls. Never disregard the chance.
I said it in the passing video, I'll say again here: I think wildly inaccurate should be on a Nat 1 and fumble should be on reduction to 1 or less. Natural 1 should always be the worst result in my opinion, and currently it isn't.
@@BoneheadPodcast Yeah, I posted this mid-video then got to the discussion about strong arm and you almost changed my mind. It just feels like the current implementation of wildly inaccurate and fumble are wrong, but maybe swapping them isn't the answer. Great video, you really came with solid stats and have me excited to try halflings again!
Yeah swapping them fixes nothing, passing still sucks. Just need to move very inaccurate to be 0 or less after mods, and leave fumble alone :) It’s not much, but it might make passing worth it at a pinch.
Hello! I have a question. If the target square you are declaring to land is occupied, do you stun the opposite player? Or only happens when the scattering is complete? Thank you!
Great video as always! Throw teammate is truly underused as a tactic in most BB matches. It's a great way to fake out your opponent! Sadly Murphy's law seems to always come into effect when I try tossing my poor little gobbos. 😢
You've convinced me, Runt Punter and 1 of my Ogres are shooting for Strong Arm and the Trolls in my Goblin and Black Orc teams will probably go for it at some point. Edit: and in your next video you show me I'm not allowed to do it for the Runt Punter...
The forward scatter probabilities are interesting, note if you are wanting to calculate the probability of just 2 "forwards" (so could be last 2 or 1st and 3rd etc) that probability is 26.3%, adding the 5.27% for all 3's and you have a *31.5% chance to get 2 or 3 "forwards"* on your 3 rolls. If we include sideways, 2 or 3 successes turns into *68% chance!* not bad. (using binomial probability formulas with n=3, p=3/8 for first one and 5/8 for second one, and x=2 and x=3)
Great video:) Throw Team Mate is a vital strategy for a few teams out there. I've learned that terrible throw is more terrible than anticipated:) One thing bothers me. I've read rulebook a couple of times. It seems that turnover is caused when a ball carrier has not landed. Additionally a turnover is caused when a thrown player lands on other player. I'm not sure though, but exception from landing on open square is not repeated in the paragraph describing landing on occupied square. If I'm right it means that throwing your own guys at a cage is not a very good tactic as you cannot follow up with a blitz :(
@@BoneheadPodcast I have doubts if they are referring to only landing on open field or generally. I guess this GW rules so ambiguity is always needed;)
The thrown player always "falls over" and is never knocked down. Only if they have the ball and fall over is it a turnover. If you hit your own team the hit player does get knocked down so it will be a turnover
It seems clear from the rule book because it goes on to reference occupied squares. If the square is occupied the thrown player will scatter and fall over. That’s a turn over but the hit player is prone and does armour rolls. If the square is unoccupied and the thrown player falls over that’s not a turnover- unless ball carrying.
Unfortunately in the FAQ it has been reiterated that if the thrown player lands in an occupied square it bounces until it lands in an unoccupied square. Which causes a turnover. So while it’s great to go bowling, you can’t both kick and throw team-mate at a cage… unless of course you miss the first throw.
I’ve just watched your video after completing my third game in our new league with my Ogres. I’m not entirely sure I agree with your 47% chance of completing a short pass. I’ve tried one throw team mate in each game. I’ve had 2 Gnoblars explode on landing, and 1 squirmed free before he could be thrown, knocking down another Ogre as he jumped away!!! I’ve definitely got a 100% success rate, but it’s not in successful throw team mates 😂

@@BoneheadPodcast So, you can knock down multiple players in a throw?????

There's going to be "Snotling nonesense" in the player lingo eventually if that keeps up. Snotlings and titchy are great fun
Ironically, treemen are great targets for throwing teammates at.

Ahh I was heartbroken when I realised the Punter can't have Strong Arm, but I guess a 3+ Quick Pass would be too overpowered...? xD
Can you intentionally throw a player into an opponent or does Target Square have to be vacant and hope for a lucky scatter?
