Great video Ben. I found if it’s early in the player’s career it’s was easy to fire. One time in BB2 as ChDwarfs I had a Hobgoblin become ST 4. Happy days. The next game, but off more than he could chew and became -1MA. From then he just stayed in the middle of the pitch.
Nice video Ben 👍 The thing I always struggle with which you didn't mention, is Niggling Injuries - you know there is a greater & greater chance they are going to get stat busted (or dead!), but for the time being they are fine so do you invest in them, or get rid? 😬 Always a toughie for me!
Depending on your meta and opponents mentality, -1 AV can have a silver lining. My -1 AV Thrall Kicker is so enticing as a target that on multiple occaisions, I've been able to bait opposition out of position just to target him.
I had an Ogre Punter with leader and I rolled pile driver next. He still had a few SPP left so I waited another game to try and roll for a secondary skill. I’d have kept him with Block or Pro (maybe a few others as well), but I didn’t hit a good one for him and he had to go. Sometimes a strong secondary roll can redeem a bad primary one.
My Gobline Lineman got to 18spp last season... now has Fend, Sure feet and Safe Pair Of Hands. He's now redrafted and team captain going into next season.
I'm here for the wacky combos. If my Elf lineman can roll a random, I'm going to give it a shot and see what happens. Even with shadowing, it's going to be really annoying for some bash team player to try to dodge away from the line. And if my lineman ends up getting picked on and dies, well, at least it wasn't another player I like more.
I run as my primary team a deep passing Elven Union team, so one of my 'missions' is turning the three positionals into 'custom built star players' Blodgestepping blitzers, Blodge Catchers and a Cannoneer at QB with a package of supplementary wrinkles. So ST- is only really a career ender for the blitzers. (my only real 'contact player'. The Catcher, in particular, is stronger at ST3 than most of the players likely to be trying to cover him and a well developed team should have the full complement of four of them so you can carry a 'weakling'. A line elf with kick is also one who I would be very reluctant to fire unless he has ready replacement on the roster.
I had a skink with sneaky git who got strength busted, and I kept him. He ended up filling a specific role on the team of running in to foul and running out again. He was very effective and didn't really suffer from the stat loss. He ended up being one of my favourites players.
I'm currently playing the troll team from fumbble secret league in a stunty league. Got an AG busted troll and I was thinking "but that's my ball carrier" that's when I realized I was playing trolls wrong ...
I love your videos, but I can't find an "intro to bloodbowl" video. Am I missing it? (youtube search isn't great). I played like 15 years ago but haven't played since. I'm trying to get my gaming group into blood bowl, and I'd love to be able to point them at a bonehead podcast "intro to blood bowl" video.
Stat reductions is the biggie. One of my Skinks has just taken a -1Str lasting injury. So now he is ST1. Ooft. On the one hand: Skinks should avoid tackle zones like the plague unless they're dodging out of/through them, and if I'm throwing a block with them then something has gone very wrong somewhere. So in terms of his functionality as a Skink, he's fine. However, most players in the league are getting 3-dice blocks against him now, and will start to target him more. Maybe I can use that to my advantage - have him be bait whilst my other Skinks are doing something else. A block against this Skink is a block not being thrown against someone else. He misses the next game, and by the time he's ready to play again I should have the cash to replace him (barring any other casualties), so I could just replace him. He has no SPP, never mind level-ups, so I wouldn't lose anything per se. Or do I carry on with him, keeping in mind that his days are numbered (even by Skink standards)?
Bb2020 rules ability to have less TV weight with random primaries and maybe a small amount of random secondaries makes your linemen amazing pieces. You might be in a position to induce on a team with less skills through petty cash alone! That is why I set my fumbbl leagues to 2016 progression. Random skills are an unfortunate exploit. Edit: germane to the video's topic you can fire the people that get unfavorable randoms once you have a gold cushion and not in a situation that requires the more normative firings for the lineman that acquires block wrestle tackle dirty player even strip ball. Eventually you will have a bunch of 6 mv blitzers in the form of linemen that could hav x2 the amount of skills of a chosen primary opponent. It is not as though I am the authority but MA down is perfectly fine on anything other than a mv8 piece. On proncipl3 if a gutter runner goes ma down its understandable that someone would fire hik although it's probably unnecessary. Av- idk I hate being down players. I may protect him with a screen even on defense and that will limit my defense as a whole. A good opponent will target your av- and n players to remove them and farm spp.
Disagree with the BB3 approach of keeping the value of random the same (thankfully they have now removed it) and don't see this as an issue in league as you level slower. Think the compromise in Bloodbowl 3 would be you can't sack the player with the random for say 3 games to slow down the progression and constant cycling of randoms.
The warhammer job must of got filled before I got around to searching for it, maybe hiring down might require less training sessions at five days a week, for the temple of warhammer though? Seemed harder to find a game with the lower tv on blood bowl 3, but sounds like good advice for the eloquent shaman lionen type that tries to make their ear popping seat kicking trips to the stadium with pop count though, lol?

Goblin in our league just got fired for frenzy on a random. We’re advocating a house rule to induce against his former team as “serious grievance” 😂
Frenzy can be good for surfing opponents with a few assists.

GOSH Pile Driver WORST Skill in BB cause those who get it will never use it cause they cost 90k or greater.

Arm bar probably goes really well with Kroxigors. Any way to bash an elf is a good way to bash an elf.
