I'm old with much less time. I'll be on PVE. I've done PvP for 20 years but these days I don't have the time to waste 1-2 hours dealing with campers ruining my questing.
I understand, although if someone camps you for 2 hours, your faction should have stepped in ( except if you talk about the silly redridge lvl 60 rogue camping you at lvl 15, that's another debate :/ )
@@itchin4scratches I don't use restedxp or anything which keeps me on a rail, I just like to chill and level my profs and not want to be bothered by getting ganked by a bored rogue. You gotta respect what people prefer, there are plenty of people who just don't enjoy pvp.
I have rolled on pvp servers every single time since 2004. But this time I'm going to be rolling pve. The last few times I've played I've realized that I've become a care bear who would rather not fight. When I was younger I loved the pvp. These days I just want to play in peace. Edit: I rolled a dwarf priest on a pvp server. let's fucking goooo
the beauty is, you can enable your pvp flag whenever you feel like it. You will see that if the other faction notices a bunch of players having enabled it, it can start pvp fights in the open world. this way everyone is ok with it, everyone agreed on being part of it, everyone is having a good time. once you had your fill you disable your pvp flag again. I was the same as you. I enjoyed pvp at first, then came to realize it is never fair and it just become annoying having to deal with it. When I'm fishing I don't want to get ganked by a rogue. wtf is fun about that? I don't get it. plus there was more world pvp on pve servers than on actual pvp servers. that may have been fixed now, but it does show that pvp players only truly enjoy pvp if they outmatch their opponent. when they are the underdog they peace out, they leave.
I’ll be rolling pve this time. With a baby, work, wife, family I don’t really have the time. Getting camped sucks on another level when it leads to you losing out on your entire play session
Original launch is different, I think you guys don't see the potential of 50/50 balancing serverwide. BUT I do understand if you just don't want to pvp at all. I'm a father of 2, wife , work and sport. Time is limited but I do see PVP encounters as real value to my time. ( If I get camepd more than 3 deaths, I log on a different character, OR demand help to my guild and we'll see from that point).
I think what messed up the faction balance on Crusader strike in sod was that Asmongold and other streamers started day one on that server and all of their minions came with them. Then when Asmon quit all his minions did too so it became more heavily horde favored.
There is almost never fair pvp in the open world. It's 1 v 4 or low level vs high level, or someone jump you while you are low in hp, low in mana, or fighting mobs. It's extremely frustrating when you are on the receiving end, and bring zero satisfaction, zero fun, where doing the ganking.
I'm not going to deny, there is unfairness, but that goes both ways. AND, I think we remember more the bad stuff than the good stuff or the great encounters we had in pvp. Truth is, nobody engages vs someone they think they are going to lose against. But STV at launch or just BRM when the faction is balanced, is really really fun. NOW, True that some classes enjoy it way less than others.
They could've worked on something to balance PvP servers with a debuff or something for griefers as other MMOs out there from the 2000s already had it, it's not that hard. I'm a retail pvp player, I only connect to play arenas but I never understood the point of wpvp. I like the competitive side of pvp and world pvp is anything but competitive because it is constantly unfair. So pve server for me and premades for battlegrounds
I got two kids and work full time But still going pvp server. Yeah you’ll get camped here and there and yeah it suck’s but once your high enough level to fight back, there is no greater feeling than defending yourself against an aggressive player
Streamers get camped all the time tho, most of them are even going pve this time or simply hardcore. Battlegrounds are fun, but doing an open world 1V1 is one of the most fun things to happen especially when it's a balanced matchup!
I agree and also disagree. Playing on Whitemane in Vanilla was some of the best fun I ever had, at least until Phase 2 hit. Also being able to kill Bots trying to steal your herbs and ore is very satisfying. But PvP servers only feel good in Vanilla, they do not have the same vibe in TBC and WotLK once flying is added.

I dont know if they’ve confirmed or denied it but do you know if there’s OCE specific servers? From what I’ve seen they’ve only said that there will be three servers for each region but they’ve said stuff like that before and excluded us in OCE
Blizzard are taking their sweet time dropping server lists. There better be OCE servers, we always miss out in mmos and I won't pay sub until it's confirmed

I've been going back and forth on this. Think I'm gonna treat fresh like a TBC era server and just go pve. Love pvp in era but once it progresses to TBC it just doesn't matter with flying mounts. The era guild I'm in is going pve so gonna join them.
Will they use the sod honor system, where you need specific honor points per week to advance? I hope they do because otherwise honor farming will be cancer. But then again if they do, eventually half the population will be on r14
On era you can kill a hardcore character on the opposite faction and transfer it to have both factions on one account. I wonder if they’ll fix this for fresh…
I think you overexagerate how layerswapping is. there will not be a 100% alliance layer and a 100% horde layer. Even in SOD you didn't have that problem.

Going PvE. The only PvP is ganking and I have too much real world stuff going on to spend half my game time corpse running. Only reason I see for a pvp server is early ranking (not bothered about) and being the ganker. People have some nostalgia about huge pvp battles but they just don’t happen anymore.
It’s horde. Horde is best for lock pvp unless you’re looking for very specific things like organized wsg inhouse games. You’ll have an easier time fighting alliance as an orc than fighting the hordes of undead with WotF. I’m going alliance on lock this time, but I have friends who got my back and lots of experience on warlock. I consider alliance a handicap for warlock, which I’ll have to overcome with skill.
I'm mainly rolling pve just because family and friends but I will still be lvling a toon on the pvp server which will prob be a rogue. Promise I don't gank lowbies I protect them it's my code of honor.
There will only be one server per type. 1 PVP and 1 PVE Server. So it could be that the PVP has 60,000 and the PVE only 40,000. But that is still more than enough to properly experience the content.
@@hujiosnurgio2940 IDK I like discord numbers cause in the past they always painted a 90% ish accurate picture in terms of population. The PVE Discord is stitting at 600 members while the PVP one is sitting at 5000+ already, personally i just like to be safe for the long run also TBC etc.
I played PVE exclusively for years, I'm now going to try out PVP. I think fresh is a great time to try out a PVP server. So many people are traumatized and crying in comments.
The PVP servers always have more players. I think Blizzard is being optimistic when they say all of these options will be mega servers. I'm predicting the PVE and Hardcore servers will be under populated.
I don't think underpopulated but PVP server will be overpopulated. I reckon they are going to open a second server up.. OR they have a great amount of capacity. But queue times are going to be very important.
Well it seems like it is actually hard to choose between Normal and PVP realms, as you can see in the comments. I do think PVP is the right choice, but that's because i'm a pvper so I don't mind having grey screen lol
I think they might try to min out the layers. We'll see what they do. I still think they might open a second server and later on merge them together if they feel like they don't need it anymore.
i fear to go pvp server but since the balance servers it may be very fun...though i am leveling a healer and people these days dont play together :/ so it will be dificult for me to play against others almost solo

I disagree because that would mess up the faction balance. People would go alliance on purpose in HC to transfer on a faction locked alliance pvp server ( so it would widen the gap even more).
Just putting this in here for PvE vs PvP, you think you want PvP til TBC drops and the dungeon entrance camping by raid groups becomes real. Think ahead.
I mean, the server balance will be 50/50 if it's done correctly, so that won't happen as much as you think. It will turn into a pvp brawl if groups just fight back instead of trying to enter just to enter.
played TBC in 2021 or whatever year it was on a big pvp server and it wasn't too bad. Occasionally you'd have some slight delay if a raid was forming up outside at a similar time than you but it was very rarely insane. There is wayyy more world pvp in vanilla
Why does everyone assume PvE means ZERO world pvp? all it means is it's consensual. I'll be rolling PvE and keeping my PvP-flag turned on. If you want to mess with me come and fight. When we've both had our fun we can flag off. PvP servers also bring out the most toxic people

PVP all day! The babies go to PVE! All the comments talking about real life blaaaa. It's ok to enjoy the journey lol. No need to rush to 60. PVP is what makes it an awesome MMO. Yes, camping sucks but consider it the universe saying " ok, it's time to go touch grass".
I personally can't see Vanilla without Open world pvp. How they handled phase 2 with transfers killed some joy for me and never cameback. Even in TBC we never had the OG Penisula fights between horde and alliance like back in the day!

I used to love PVP but phase 2 in 2019 was not fun if you were on the "wrong" faction I know they will try force the balance this time around but it just killed it for me. I hope for the PVP folks sake they dont F it up again but PVE it is for me. Did not enjoy the 2019 PVP classic experience.
Heck yeah! I have a full time job, but I’m still going PvP. I got roped into a PvE server on SoD and it killed it for me. It just doesn’t feel like Classic WoW without the world PvP shenanigans.

I think most folks just want to rush to 80 so they hate pvp cause it hinders that, but they forget its about the journey. I never understood why there is no penalty for killing someone 10 or more lvls lower. It's so dumb 😂 Gonna go hc/pve anyway since i don't remember the last time i had a fair fight in open world pvp. It's always 2v1 3v1 or they attack you if you are facing 2-3 mobs already, are on low hp/mana. Even if it was a fair fight, as a holy priest you just don't win against a rogue unless he plays absolutely awful😂
Definitely going pve this time, played pvp always but gone are the fun days of wpvp like on private servers pre classic or og vanilla. Classic players are sweaty beyond belief, fair fights are few and far between these days if your a rogue or druid though I totally get it. Since you can grief without any repercussions.

Going PVE this time. Like others have mentioned, been a PVP server player since I was a little kid when original vanilla released. It's just not fun anymore. I remember classic release in 2019. I took a week off and was way ahead of everyone. My friends, they all quit because they were getting camped like crazy. PVP doesn't seem to hit like it used to, anyway. It seems like now, you just get camped by higher levels to grief you. You never get those crazy fights where both sides are recruiting players and then before you know it, there's 20 v 20 happening in a random zone. Maybe I'll change my mind on launch day. The faction balance does seem like it could make it better.
My whole life ive generally avoided pvp fights as i find them unncessary. Unless they deserve it. And even though i avoid almost every single time i still would never roll pve server, its really not difficult to avoid world pvp it happens maybe once every 3 chars i level that i get ganked annoyingly for a short period of time, you can nearly always avoid it by avoiding questing in certain areas like stv during normal hours etc. But nothing feels better than destroying some pvp enemies in the world when they piss you off or try to gank you. Had great moments like that during this week 3 times already in era of getting my sweet revenge and putting someone in their place. One time was a group 4 on 4 in hillbrad and we wrecked them proper after they jumped us and they managed to recover into a win once after that. As revenge we ganked them until they called 60s :D Another was a retardin that loved to run around ganking 5-6 lvls lower ppl and i didnt have the power yet, but found him yesterday just 2 lvls higher and i put my mortal strike into him well and good :D Also yesterday i was jumped by 2 allies in desolace a warrior and his druid mate, and i owned the warrior and then almost the druid then he combat ress then i owned them both. These are the things you remember and find extra joy with. But also, with improved faction balance its set up to be amazing!! Pve server = boring af

It only make sense because of no competition on world. So you cant abuse professions and leveling really fast without pvp to slow you down. Before you transfor all the mats over to a pvp realm. But yes for normal people it sucks. But i can understand why they do it. Since hardcore realms basicly is a normal realm
No competition and also, to try to balance the server 100%. If there is a faction lock to alliance, you'll go alliance on hardcore, level, die and then transfer to pvp. It'll widen the gap. And same here, I don't see any reason to hardcore from my POV, except on a very late phase.
Mate, I can't wait for World pvp with the world bosses, we did that also in 2019 and that was just so fun ( until transfers killed the alliance side on my server :/ )
What is the point of playing wow classic with no pvp, people that only do pve are missing out on so many fun interactions and things that can happen. Feel bad for those people
Yeah for me classic ( and even TBC / WRATH) pvp can't be seperated from the main game. EVEN TBC now with 50/50 balancing will be glorious to say the least.
I disagree. World PVP was essential to wow until retail became what it was, and in 2019 it became something again until they made faction imbalances and transfers a thing. Griefing occurs, but imo PVE griefing is even worse because there is simply nothing you can do about it. BUT, I am someone that values PVP ALOT ( World pvp, Bgs, and Arenas) and it was hard enough on hardcore to not have the occasional pvp fights in STV or Tanaris, I prefer to have them. I'll get camped for sure, but that's fine. Many of these ''camping'' moments created big battles of guilds grouping up together.

Have you tried leveling on Whitemane recently? You can't level past mid 20s. It's super fun when everyone is on the same playing field. And then it's cancer.

Most important decision: start with warrior, or start with a more effective farming class to fund your warrior

PvE is better than PvP
If you want to PvP on a PvE server there are battlegrounds.
PvP is only good for Rogues and streamers.

"World pvp" is just an inconvinience unless you're a griefing rogue. This will be my first time rolling pve instead.

I'm mainly rolling pve just because family and friends but I will still be lvling a toon on the pvp server which will prob be a rogue. Promise I don't gank lowbies I protect them it's my code of honor.

The PVP server just has like 10x more people, you can already see by the numbers of PVP and PVE server. I want to full server.
There will only be one server per type. 1 PVP and 1 PVE Server. So it could be that the PVP has 60,000 and the PVE only 40,000. But that is still more than enough to properly experience the content.

The PVE Discord is stitting at 600 members while the PVP one is sitting at 5000+ already, personally i just like to be safe for the long run also TBC etc.

I tried playing on a PVE server once and it just didn't feel right, I like the paranoia of ganking or being ganked.
I played PVE exclusively for years, I'm now going to try out PVP. I think fresh is a great time to try out a PVP server. So many people are traumatized and crying in comments.

The PVP servers always have more players. I think Blizzard is being optimistic when they say all of these options will be mega servers. I'm predicting the PVE and Hardcore servers will be under populated.
I don't think underpopulated but PVP server will be overpopulated. I reckon they are going to open a second server up.. OR they have a great amount of capacity. But queue times are going to be very important.

it will be a single mega server per region, no m8 it will be the opposite of dead, it will be insane with an extreme amount of layers
1 For EU and 1 for US, it will CERTAINLY not be dead.
I think they might try to min out the layers. We'll see what they do. I still think they might open a second server and later on merge them together if they feel like they don't need it anymore.
i fear to go pvp server but since the balance servers it may be very fun...though i am leveling a healer and people these days dont play together :/ so it will be dificult for me to play against others almost solo
You can certainly find people as a healer, if you are on EU you can always hit me up for dungeons :)

I disagree because that would mess up the faction balance. People would go alliance on purpose in HC to transfer on a faction locked alliance pvp server ( so it would widen the gap even more).

Just putting this in here for PvE vs PvP, you think you want PvP til TBC drops and the dungeon entrance camping by raid groups becomes real. Think ahead.
I mean, the server balance will be 50/50 if it's done correctly, so that won't happen as much as you think. It will turn into a pvp brawl if groups just fight back instead of trying to enter just to enter.
played TBC in 2021 or whatever year it was on a big pvp server and it wasn't too bad. Occasionally you'd have some slight delay if a raid was forming up outside at a similar time than you but it was very rarely insane. There is wayyy more world pvp in vanilla

PVP all day! The babies go to PVE! All the comments talking about real life blaaaa. It's ok to enjoy the journey lol. No need to rush to 60. PVP is what makes it an awesome MMO. Yes, camping sucks but consider it the universe saying " ok, it's time to go touch grass".
I personally can't see Vanilla without Open world pvp. How they handled phase 2 with transfers killed some joy for me and never cameback.
Even in TBC we never had the OG Penisula fights between horde and alliance like back in the day!

I used to love PVP but phase 2 in 2019 was not fun if you were on the "wrong" faction I know they will try force the balance this time around but it just killed it for me. I hope for the PVP folks sake they dont F it up again but PVE it is for me. Did not enjoy the 2019 PVP classic experience.

Heck yeah! I have a full time job, but I’m still going PvP. I got roped into a PvE server on SoD and it killed it for me. It just doesn’t feel like Classic WoW without the world PvP shenanigans.

Gonna go hc/pve anyway since i don't remember the last time i had a fair fight in open world pvp. It's always 2v1 3v1 or they attack you if you are facing 2-3 mobs already, are on low hp/mana. Even if it was a fair fight, as a holy priest you just don't win against a rogue unless he plays absolutely awful😂
The issue is that you could also grief people 10 lvls or more.
IF you are a healer, the way you do pvp is by grouping up imo.
Definitely going pve this time, played pvp always but gone are the fun days of wpvp like on private servers pre classic or og vanilla. Classic players are sweaty beyond belief, fair fights are few and far between these days if your a rogue or druid though I totally get it. Since you can grief without any repercussions.

Going PVE this time. Like others have mentioned, been a PVP server player since I was a little kid when original vanilla released. It's just not fun anymore. I remember classic release in 2019. I took a week off and was way ahead of everyone. My friends, they all quit because they were getting camped like crazy. PVP doesn't seem to hit like it used to, anyway. It seems like now, you just get camped by higher levels to grief you. You never get those crazy fights where both sides are recruiting players and then before you know it, there's 20 v 20 happening in a random zone. Maybe I'll change my mind on launch day. The faction balance does seem like it could make it better.

My whole life ive generally avoided pvp fights as i find them unncessary. Unless they deserve it. And even though i avoid almost every single time i still would never roll pve server, its really not difficult to avoid world pvp it happens maybe once every 3 chars i level that i get ganked annoyingly for a short period of time, you can nearly always avoid it by avoiding questing in certain areas like stv during normal hours etc.
But nothing feels better than destroying some pvp enemies in the world when they piss you off or try to gank you. Had great moments like that during this week 3 times already in era of getting my sweet revenge and putting someone in their place. One time was a group 4 on 4 in hillbrad and we wrecked them proper after they jumped us and they managed to recover into a win once after that. As revenge we ganked them until they called 60s :D Another was a retardin that loved to run around ganking 5-6 lvls lower ppl and i didnt have the power yet, but found him yesterday just 2 lvls higher and i put my mortal strike into him well and good :D Also yesterday i was jumped by 2 allies in desolace a warrior and his druid mate, and i owned the warrior and then almost the druid then he combat ress then i owned them both. These are the things you remember and find extra joy with.
But also, with improved faction balance its set up to be amazing!!

It only make sense because of no competition on world. So you cant abuse professions and leveling really fast without pvp to slow you down. Before you transfor all the mats over to a pvp realm. But yes for normal people it sucks. But i can understand why they do it. Since hardcore realms basicly is a normal realm
No competition and also, to try to balance the server 100%.
If there is a faction lock to alliance, you'll go alliance on hardcore, level, die and then transfer to pvp. It'll widen the gap.
And same here, I don't see any reason to hardcore from my POV, except on a very late phase.

I disagree. World PVP was essential to wow until retail became what it was, and in 2019 it became something again until they made faction imbalances and transfers a thing.
Griefing occurs, but imo PVE griefing is even worse because there is simply nothing you can do about it.
BUT, I am someone that values PVP ALOT ( World pvp, Bgs, and Arenas) and it was hard enough on hardcore to not have the occasional pvp fights in STV or Tanaris, I prefer to have them.
I'll get camped for sure, but that's fine. Many of these ''camping'' moments created big battles of guilds grouping up together.

Have you tried leveling on Whitemane recently? You can't level past mid 20s. It's super fun when everyone is on the same playing field. And then it's cancer.
