I've grown and harvested over 200 plants and trees in the wild these past 3 days :)
But did you get the aspen tree in time?
Correction. You don't have to tear down your small scarecrow to have the bigger scarecrow garden. You can keep both in separate spaces.

The Yata is able to climb mountains with it's fleeing yata ability (requires a lvl 20+ Yata), though it can be a little finicky getting it to work, but is much faster then trying to use a glider to climb.
Also, planting an illegal farm costs extra labor per planting, instead of being labor free like it is on paid farms. (and the extra labor doesn't count towards any proficiency, though it does at least give the normal amount of xp for spending labor).
In between waiting on harvests for my own paid farms I'm always out exploring and looking for illegal farms to dispense righteous justice upon those tax-evading scum!

paid farms? How does that works? Do I have to pay extra or just with the timecard I buy?
paid farms are the ones you actually own. You have to be a patron to own land, and then you have to find a place to put a farm (being a patron does NOT guarantee that'll you'll find a place to put a farm/house due to the scarcity of land). You'll need Gilda stars to buy the plans for most houses though the Garden/Large Farms come from quest rewards, and then you have to collect the materials to build them, and then after that pay their taxes every week.
There are public farms where you can plant/raise animals for free but they have restrictions on what can be planted/raised there and there's a cap on how much stuff each person can have there.
And you can always just make an "illegal" farm (called such because you aren't paying taxes), by just planting pretty much anywhere, but it does not protect your stuff like a Public or Owned farm does and you need to pick a location where it can grow without other people uprooting during growth or stealing it after it's finished.

I really like the hunt for new spots and the thrill of coming back to them, never knowing what you find. It's also cool to meet other people in these spots. The area between White Arden and Gweonid is basically a nomansland. I found a forest of at least 100 Cedar trees today. Lucky for that guy, I save my labor points for tradepacks ^^
my first game was wow. and i find it terrifyinng to start on a new game in the genre the amount of time i need to invest all the new things i need to learn that i cant use anywhere but in this game keeps me in wow. love your video can almost feel your pain when they took your plants ;D and the glider raid was a fun story... enjoyed watching alot thanks

I really love farming in mmorpg and in this it really feels like you can be a true farmer / trader / smith
This has inspired me to play a druid type character in Archage! I would totally be over that, living in a small hut with a BUNCH of small gardens planted around everywhere.
And basically just live in the wilds.
I am so eagerly awaiting the beta launch of this game, it look so soooo good. Great video and this really just waters my excitement for ArcheAge.
Funny story, just started playing and a friend of ours planted olive trees up at that spot you spoke about olive trees. But this is on live so I doubt it was the same.
There's actually no limit to how many farm/houses you can have however if you have more than 3 on the same server it'll cost you extra taxes
Also depending on what type of tree you plant it can have reduced growth time in different zone ie. yew is meant for all climates and have 4 hours everywhere but Cork is meant for temperate and have 4 hours in temperate but 5 hours 43 minutes anywhere else (the same goes for any plant you can plant)
Also i'm not sure if it were like this at the point the video was made but at least that's how it works now

Yew seedlings grow in 4 hours :) Great vid, I never took the chance of farming in the wild.
Yep, sadly they only produce about 3-4 logs I think, compared to Cork which give 5-6 logs. Worth the extra hour I think :)

Lol i rent a 16x16, and a 8x8, And also own a 16x16 but still grow in public areas. Always cool to find spots that dont get found by others.
reason why there is a focus on farming and crafting is they designed the game so almost everything is player made. They have dungeons, group, and solo content for pve. Pvp is open world. A lot of it will be on ships or the north continent where guilds fight for land.
With your rest buff it took only 15 labor instead of 20 to cut down the trees. At least that what I seemed to noticed when you cut down the last 3.

tip: make a tree farm 100 trees on a mountain stand up around 5-6am and farm them all go to bed again and you just go an easy 600-700 logs (Y) you made 200lumber around 30-40 gold (Y)
Game has a ton of content, and doesn't hold your hand to show you said content. You have to figure it out yourself (or ask around).
Have seen so many players quit because "there's no end-game". Only reason they stopped playing was because there wasn't any quests left to give them directions.

yeah community can be friendly and just plane annoying in this... if u have a few friends or a guild that will help a lot :)
Personally i gotta say only a very small portion of the community are dicks who wont respond,to you or help you sometimes i help out over players when they are about to die and they just walk away no shits given. So i joined a guild! Love it everybody is social

thats why the pirate is not a bad idea..join pirate guild steal people trade packs when you can,steal trees,plants,animals then sell it and make lots of goldz :D

It's weird I have always been a pvp person. and have always wanted sandbox PvP. but with all these sandbox games coming out what im most interested in, all i want to do, is to farm and pve in them.
Farming is fun in this game so far. But you can on occasion use your farming to make a trade pack and take it far away for PVP element and to bank some serious gold.

Seems like a bummer that farm areas are pay for only. Some aspects of this game make the VIP system seem like a must since it's hard to be competitive otherwise xD
Kinda has to be pay only for farms and housing. There is a Limited area and Botters and farmers would waste most of that space if building was ftp.
Unless you get some friends together -- get one who is willing to pay for the patron status / you pitch in together to switch off, and you can build a house together and share farms.
I bought patron and my friend is going f2p we just share my home and farms work together to build and farm. Simple :)

uprooting isn't jerk behavior unless they do it infront of you right before you cut it down. Some people do it to get infamy cause they want to go pirate.
So I want to ask a question....If you are free-to-play can you still purchase and place illegal houses or can you definitely not place any kind of house whether its public or not? I know that you cant place public houses if you are f2p but im really interested in doing illegal houses in f2p if im available. I really haven't found any information on this but it would be greatly appreciated if you know.

Imagine this game without labor system,there would be huge farms....
it wont work as u wish to, if the other players (most of em) use LOWEST CONFIG to play it... it removes ALL RANDOM TREES and bushes... so its really easy to spot ur (hidden) tree

labor isn't character specific. is the resting debuff character specific? as in can you spend 40 minutes and sleep with your main and your 3 other alts? If the debuff is character specific, does that mean you can delete your 4th alt, create a new character, run over to a guest house, and sleep for 10 minutes, delete him and repeat for full labor? It still means you'll have to be semi afk for a 15 hours. but this looks like you have the choice to actively regen labor, or log out and do something else for three days to get max labor back.
Gotta wait till monday to be able to buy this game ._. and yes I'm going to pay 150€ ---

Release date? How locked is the Alpha? Will you stop playing after 10 hours because of the lack of content?
The alpha is now done with, Beta Events are starting. You need to get beta keys (given out by websites) to get into individual beta events. There is no lack of content, there is a lot of things to do. Best enjoyed with friends.
If you think this game lacks content, you're fucking insane. If you wanna play now regardless of the events only stuff, it's $150. That gives you a bunch of really neat stuff like a phoenix glider, 11.5k Credits, and 90 days of gametime, also a pretty sweet suit of armor. If you want all of that, except it's Beta events only and with 7.7k credits, it's $100. If you want just Beta, like 2.5k credits, and a title, it's $50.

Sleeping in that bed takes 2 gilda stars (1.2.), so not always worth it ;)

My only gripe with this game is that they won't add pure pve servers... I love the pve content and farming of this game, but I despise the fact that my gaming session can be controlled by morons...some people love the sense of danger I don't. It will sadly mean that I won't put my entire heart into this game.

If you have a guild you could then take a open public spot and just plant it totally full with 50 guys planting and then you set up guard shifts right? so if someone tries to take it you can witness it and he will be doomed ... does that work?
i found a few places in the world that are quite difficult to access that would be great farming locations because no one will actually to the time to get there.
You say that now but trust me, there are people who make it there sole mission to go out of there way to find others hidden farms. Many times, people are just looking for a crazy hiding spot and find someone elses instead. Like me ;)

I had a mountain top growing spot that, if you didn't want to get up there you couldn't, planted 100 trees, logged out, came back in, all but 20 were gone! with foot prints everywhere. I was pissed

I started playing when they released in September, I played for 3 months, left for a month, I've been playing for a month again and this has became a P2W which is just sad. Fucking trion. The game is still fun, stealing people trees and killing animals. >:D

Watch out what server you go on, there are already a couple people making Guilds that are Patron only. Their main goal is going around and uprooting non-patron player plants and trees. They killed off a good crop of cotton, cedar and some quest plants and told me that I need to stop planting illegally, get a job and pay for the game. Then 2 of them followed me around for about 2 hours and stopped me from questing by tagging almost everything before I could. To me, Patrons = Assholes now.
You was , maybe , just unlucky. I did'nt found anyone bad so far.

That's a tough question. I honestly don't know what games are similar competitors of AA. Black Desert Online I suppose is the closest thing.
hmm well too bad BDO is not free2play :/ since i dont have a credit card yet its hard to find good games like AA. Even so, its worth a shot to play AA as a f2p player if only i knew someone and can teach me ingame. Thanks anyways
fresh start servers are coming out on december 10th for the free to play player base for AA along with dwarf and warborn races

I think it's bad too, but then I think of all the people who could just like, ENDLESSLY plant trees and ENDLESSLY steal trees. It puts limits to things, and you have a plentiful amount of points.

It's not saying that at all. You can still quest, ride mounts, level up, fight, all kinds of shit. Put all of that into time spent, while getting 10 every five minutes, I mean, you always have points.

The person I replied to basically said the game stops you from playing if you deplete labor points. I clearly proved him wrong.
It stops you from playing if you don't want to do same old boring quests though. I agree with you to a certain extent there is a lot to do in this game but I still find myself logging out once I've ran out of labour points. I'm trying to level fishing not quest or kill mobs
Do you need any items in order to begin farming?
just some seeds and maybe some water for some plants. as well as a farm or a damn good hiding spot.
Im starting to feel that its more of a farming simulator due to the waiting and stuff .. are the other aspects of the game like pve and pvp good ??? i know its a sandbox game but i fear that it might be toooo focused on these stuff :P
farming is a big part of the game but you can always just do pvp. pve is standard in the mmo market, kill this kill that and fetch quests. people just want to show more of the farming aspect since i believe it has not been done in this way
like Jerico mention pve is the standard and for pvp their are ship battles, seige/raid and factions battles..not to mention bandits
