I translated the descriptions of Alex’s attacks and stances as the Irisfold thing. Shrouded Stance: Protect. Strangle. Hurt. Defusion Stance: Return to the past. Entwining Stance: Side by side with the stems. Pulsation Stance: The antidote to the healed. Internal Stance: The heart and the head do not agree. Monotropa: All after life. Gardneri: Broken and buried. Nepenthes: Devouring the will. Maple: Falling out of the depths.
After watching this video, it got me thinking. Arnold, in the way the fans of the series see him, knows a ton about boxing. They aren't flashy, they just stick and move, stand strong, and whoop anybody's ass with debilitating punches. From what we know, pre-flash Arnold was a mechanic. Quite like how pre-flash Alex is a garbage man. With pre-flash Alex, we know that their passions HEAVILY relied on Velvet-Fu, and the lessons taught within the tape. What I would absolutely love to see, is if pre-flash Arnold had a love and passion for Boxing. Like, maybe before he grew up and became a man, he would watch boxing with his dad. Or hell, maybe he would participate in boxing lessons in a shitty run-down Olathe gym. Until the next game, we will not know for certain. Until that day, and as hokey as it will sound, he's honestly no-one in particular. (Side-note: I really hope they don't make Arnold have some grandiose story, where they are like famous. I think what makes Arnold special, in my mind at least, is that they show the depravity of a simple man escalate by being in The Franchise. The Franchise used to be my least favorite LISA story, but after giving it thought, the mentally deranging concepts of it all is horrifying.)
I've always seen a parallel between Arnold and Alex; both seem to be skilled fighters, in an art neither ended up in for their professional lives. It's probable Arnold's story mirrors Alex's, in that they'd had *A* chance to make it... and something happened there. For Alex, we know its because his offensive style went first against its perfect counter - one for which he knew not how to counter. Arnold... I feel like it has something to do with his move "THE Punch"(what its called in game files). When he does it, it's basically a guaranteed knock out - or kill - and the text says that he, quote, "... denies you!" I've always had a headcanon that he killed someone with his "special" punch, and that ruined his chances at that career, similar to Alex. But idk, I'm just a fan. C:

Based off of The SOTWS mod, the kinda accepted idea is that the higher the fold Alex makes it too, the more mastery he gains over his own messed up version of Velvet-Fu. It sucks to imagine him as a bad guy, but it's also completely plausible that he could be tempted into becoming a jersey head given his backstory. All in all, really cool character!
Alex looks extremely complex. Not sure how to feel, except that all the flavor text is meaty and the hits are hard. Is cool to see some martial prowess with Arnold. Almost professional. The sprites are terrifying!
I always though that would be kick ass, Arnold being a powerhouse character. But you have to do the whole trek; from Garbage Island to the bus by your lonesome.
I feel like a better plot would be that somewhere along the lines of Arnold being lot like Alex. Arnold wanted to be a professional boxer, but had to retire early due to an unforseen loss or being threatened or something like that. You'd then start out at his mechanics shop, roaming around downtown Olathe and actually moving TOWARDS garbage island to get parts to help fix people's vehicles. Along the way you gotta fight scavengers, but Arnold doesn't end up with a Jersey in this timeline, so when he returns, he has to fight his way through his former friends turned Jerseyheads, and escape by jumping off the cliff. What happens from there is anyone's guess. Cool idea.

I haven't played through LISA: The Pointless all the way yet but I want to know something... WHY DOESN'T JOEL ACTUALLY SHOOT HIS GUN AT ALL FOR AN ATTACK?! He has a 70 base attack power to take advantage of so use it to shoot, not to waste bottles like... COME ON! Edit: From reading the comments, I think I know why now.
