Was thinking about pulling my back boxes as well, not really too fond of being extremely loud to cause attention. How loud is it actually, I was hoping that’s it’s not too bad to the point where police will still think it’s stock. I live in California and cops aren’t fond of us car guys🤣
Absolutely LOVING the suction noise it makes during gear changes, @10:40. I was actually on the fence for my petrol 240, and after hearing yours, I am definitely looking forward to a change. The exhaust tone of it is just right, not outlandishly loud. I'm looking to change out both the midpipes & mufflers. Hope to get it sounding as good as yours, minimum. :)
Hey, thinking of getting my exhausts done too, did you get it straight lined/ back box delete? Or a new sport back box installed? Thanks :) love your videos made me get my new jag!
Constructive feedback. Couldn’t see exhausts as low light. Hope your channel builds though. You present well. Maybe try and collaborate with an w perimeter RUclipsr if possible. You’ll get good coverage, maybe better production in sound and visuals etc. lots of RUclipsrs are helpful like that. Keep it up
Hi, not sure if you’ll respond. I’m thinking of getting this done but I just want to know… if you are driving, let’s say ‘efficiently’ can you make the car quieter depending on how you drive? Thank you
It’s mainly on the driving modes. Eco is definitely quieter and less aggressive compared to Dynamic, your own driving style will definitely make a difference but it’s an organic noise, no valves or dampening so there’s a base level of noise.
@@TobyRobinson-u6b no flaps or valves, was recommended to stay away from them due to seizing potential etc. it’s all just under the different modes basically.
I couldn’t tell you the name off the top of my head, when I took the car in to have it done the guys had a few styles laid out and tried them on the car until I picked one. Purely down to personal preference.
Yes it’s 4”, we looked at 4” and 5” to see which would look better but the 5” was to tight and I was concerned about it melting the rear valance when it got hot from a longer drives.
Thanks for confirming. My local Powerflow franchise also dabbled with the idea of 5” but it looks like 4” is best so I’m glad you confirmed that. I’ve noticed your valance back then looking like a nice gloss black but mine (MY68) is a dull grey almost. Did you treat it as you can with plastic trim or did Jaguar do a gloss black version from factory for the early models? Looked smart! Had an estimate of £450 today which feels more than fair for 2022 prices. Really hoping for a subtle sport tone on idle and low range but a fantastic response from sport modes being used. Those factory boxes are humungous / weight reduction to be had!
@@TheAlex462 I had my rear valance wrapped in gloss black a few years ago, as the standard black plastic looked cheap, but I didn’t want to pay Jaguar prices to replace with the “S” valance which was gloss black from factory. The only thing to be aware of doing a custom mod on the exhaust is that the sound deadening is minimal in the boot at the back boxes do a lot of work to cut the sound, just don’t go too crazy in the volume or you’ll be getting some potential drone noise inside the cabin,
Been a couple of years now... Do you still have the car? How's the sound going? I'll be moving from an XE-S to an XE P300 next month so looking to change the exhaust for a bit more beef - enough to scare cyclists when you pass, but not annoying on a long journey. Do you have more details on exactly what was done as longlife were a bit vague when I contacted them.
Yeah I do, I just do an update video on the XE as it may be leaving my garage soon! The sound is pretty good, never will be as good as a V or even a fully developed exhaust system but it occasionally pops and bangs and makes a bit of noise in tunnels which is what I wanted it for. I’m curious as to why you’re changing, I’d be holding on the bigger V6 than going down to the turbo if I could. As Longlife are a custom exhaust fabricator it was slightly open ended, I booked the car in, turned up and explained the type of noise and volume that I’d like and decided on which tip to have and then let them work their magic. You can get it tailored to your design. 👍
@@ForTheDrive The XE-S V6 was written off by a truck, it was due for a change though as I'd had it just over a year/40k miles. As the XE-S isn't made any more I had to go for the P300. Still got a V6 is the F-Type though for weekend fun 🙂
Hi mate, got an f-type p300, looking at replacing the back box... do you still have the valves working? the button to turn them off/on etc? also how much did that roughly cost you?
It felt more nimble, but I hesitate because it just felt way better being able to hear some noise finally! I think it may have helped a little with not having the the silencers restricting air flow but to do it properly I’d need to de cat and widen the pipe from headers.
It cost me around £400 for the two back boxes. Another option you should look at is the resonator box, the exhaust specialists will advise you on it all. 👍
Not sure tbh, the before clips were a little cold so many a richer mix makes a difference but they should be a standard noise before mods. Have you modified anything?
G'day Mate, I live in Australia and own a 2015 Jaguar XE 25.T R Sports petrol. I can't find a similar system available in my country so can you please give me the contact details of the supplier so I can enquire about export availability. Cheers
+Michael White hey! They are called Longlife exhausts website is: www.longlife.co.uk As I mentioned in the video, it is custom made, so it’s technically a one off build so I’m not sure how easy it will be for them to export something that was built onto the car. But no harm in asking them, good luck!
How is the Drone at 70mph-ish? on a different note, can i just ask what drew you to the XE in the first place? seems an odd car to start modding when it's more of a mini-exec saloon. Don't get me wrong, they have decent power and certainly move, but what was your reason for the XE and do you still stick with that choice or do you think you would have been better off with a hot hatch or similar? I have kind of the opposite thoughts with my M135i... constantly thinking about getting a tuning box to get close to 400bhp, but then i think how often do i use that and sometimes think i would have better off with an XE or similar (recently looked at the latest 300bhp 4 pot one and the v6)
+Pickles the drone noise drops off when you start cruising, at high speed it’s no worse than most sports exhausts so I think I’ve been very lucky with the result. Haha you’re not the first to ask and won’t be the last. Something about it drew me in, I wanted (still do) a Mustang GT but couldn’t have that as my only car, so I went through all of the rivals; M235i, CLA250, S3 saloon, XE and Just fell for the Jaguar. I prefer a slightly larger car than a hot hatch so although there are some serious weapons out there for good money, I would always want a bigger car so I stick with my choice. There are times that we all want a certain car that we don’t have, but when I go for a drive in mine, I still enjoy it and get a sense of satisfaction. I think the power in the M135i is good, and more power is always a good idea for me, but if you don’t use it enough to justify it then it’s not worth spending more, the size of car makes a big difference, a small car can feel far more fun at slow speeds.
I have an M140 and a P250 XE. The Jaguar sounds crap and is so so so boring!! I came here by mistake looking for info about my pan roof blind sticking (it’s under warrantee but I hoped it was an easy fix) The M140 is savage, better on fuel than the Jag, and sooooooo much nicer sounding. The car in this video sounds fair with that exhaust tho, hats off. If your thinking tuning box then get it done. I have one on my M140 and it made 431bhp on Surry rolling road, 600Nm. Take note however it going to be no good without a LSD as I found out, with my LSD fitted its an animal! 0-62 in under 4 seconds on draggy and I ran mid 11’s at Santa Pod. Birds suspension next.

+Marcin Włodarczyk thanks! Certainly an improvement, still loving it. The back boxes cost me £400, the second stage if I go for it hasn’t been quoted yet.
+Marcin Włodarczyk it’s louder than before but I have no issue with the noise. Same with Motorways, quiet cruising and not bad for accelerations etc. There are insulating mats if it becomes too much.
