That thing is huge, the red light and beeping reminds me of that scene in Aliens when Ripley flushes the alien out the airlock in the cargo bay.

No it is not custom made some elevators can even get bigger

I rode a freight elevator at oak ridge mall today but it wasn’t nearly that size not even haft of it. Today was like the second time in my life I’ve roden one of them before. There super fascinating to ride and I hope to ride more bigger ones like this to! I love elevators and I had a even bigger obsession when I was a little kid 😆.

I've seen buildings here in NY that have freighters like this one, in buildings where instead of a ground level loading dock, they have 1 or more freighters used to bring trucks to underground loading docks.
Imagine if the elevater got stuck you would have to live there and wait until the rescue people got there

Andrew, how did you pull this off? Very Impressive! Sad to see the Otis Fixtures gone. These two beasts are fun to ride. When I wanted to ride these when I was volunteering back in 1997-1999; I had to check a key out from security and put it in a lock that said G (motor generator). Without a key, it wouldn't run. Those things were kept off.
Will be doing the air and space once knowing a lot about aviation I can relate to it

I estimate it being the same size as a full bathroom in a house; also I bet that loud beeping noise whenever those gate doors moved can get somewhat irritating after a while,but I suppose that it's a necessary evil for safety reasons.

@@seanjuth The roping is very likely 2:1 whereby compensating sheave are attached to the top of the cab and counterweight, allowing more weight to be carried but slows the FPM to about 1/2 normal speed. The geared traction machine probably has a 60-72" driven sheave

This fright elevator likely has a 2:1 roping which enables more weight to be carried in addition to a larger geared traction machine. There are compensating sheaves on top of the cab and counterweight unlike with 1:1 roping where the free ends of the cab anchor to the cab and counterweight pass over the driven sheave. The 2:1 free ends are anchored to the ceiling of the elevator shaft.
