  • This is the first video in a series that I will be making as tutorials on how to use AnyRail. This video is the Introduction to AnyRail and cover how to set up your settings, lay track and turnouts and adding structures to your plan. AnyRail is a layout/track design software for model railroads. I have used this software to design the Santa Fe - High Desert Division layout. Here is the website link to AnyRail: www.anyrail.com/en
    Please click here to see the libraries that are included: www.anyrail.com/en/libraries

    Thank you so much for this. I downloaded a free trial of AnyRail and struggling to get it to do what I wanted, but this has made it easier to understand and worth the investment for the full version.

    Well done and informative. I'm looking at different CAD programs for designing railroad layouts and AnyRail 6 seems the simplest to use but yet a fairly powerful program. I'm designing for Marklin track and mostly Faller structures so glad to see those are in the design package. Now off to reviewing your parts 2 and 3 in the videos series. Thanks!!

    Great video.. I am using it for O Gauge - O Scale. Is there a way to add an elevated trestle system to create on over under track plan?

  • @TDHobbies
    @TDHobbies 4 года назад +2

    I watched some of these, they are good, but somewhat out of order as I would create it. I want to create the room first, then the table, then start laying track. Either way I'm thankful you created these videos.

    • @brownjm74
      @brownjm74  4 года назад +2

      Your welcome Tony! I was going to add the room part first but being the trial version is limited to the number of parts, I felt that if someone was going to try the program out it would be just track parts first.

    • @TDHobbies

      Jeremy Brown after creating the room I found out o don’t want the whole room for my smaller layout. Haha , BUT, I did save the room and tables in another file for room only. I’m still struggling with other parts. Thanks.

    Thanks Jeremy, I learned a lot but am still trying how to create a 30 radius curve with a turnout in the middle. Also I can't seem to get Anyrail to accept tighter min radiui as in a switching area.

    • @brownjm74
      @brownjm74  4 года назад +1

      David, to place a turnout in a curve you will need to make the curve out of flex track first. Then click on the piece of track then right click the mouse. You will see one of the options is "cut flex here" click on this and it will cut the rail at that point. Then right click on the cut and click on disconnect rail. Now you will be able to pull one of the track pieces away and add your turnout. Then you can place the cut piece back on the other side of the turnout if you wish.
      Second question, you will need to change your Min Radius in the settings tab (along the top) Set your radius for a smaller size then change it back once your done. The switching area track will turn red but you will know why. As a note, this is for using flex track. Hope this helps!!

    19:20 I don't seem to have the option to add parallel flex. I'm wondering if they got rid of it in an update between March and November or if that option is only available for flew track?

    • @brownjm74
      @brownjm74  4 года назад +1

      Timothy, the "Add Parallel Flex" icon is only there when you are using a piece of flex track. ie. If you use a piece of Atlas 9" straight track, KATO unitrack, etc. the "Add Parallel Flex" icon will not be available. Hope this helps! Jeremy

    How do I get the grid lines to show in the O scale view? Supposedly the grid is there but I cannot see it.

    • @brownjm74
      @brownjm74  4 года назад

      Tom, Not sure what you mean by "O scale view". The grids should be there no matter what scale you are working in. The grids are not by scale but by actual inch's or metric. You can change the grid size under the settings tab and "work area".

    • @therookie3445
      @therookie3445 3 года назад

      I noticed that the coarse (12") grid is always there when "grid" is checked, but the fine grid shows up only when I check the "Snap to Grid" behavior (Settings, far top right selection).

    J, Thank you for your great tutorials,,, Might have missed it, but how do I insert a train to check, say a length of a stagiing rail to suit?

    • @brownjm74
      @brownjm74  2 года назад

      I just made a rectangle box to represent a freight car and locomotive(s). Nothing special or you can just measure your longest train length and add a ruler. Hope this helps.

    I have 3 comments. First when I make connections to tracks, I don't get a white circle. Instead I get a black dot. Can this be changed? My eyes are struggling to see the black dots. 2nd how did you get the center line in the cement plant to line up the track? I do not have this. 3rd using the arrow keys on the keyboard I was able to move the cement plant into the correct position. The arrow keys seem to be at times more helpful than a mouse or laptop finger pad.

    • @brownjm74
      @brownjm74  3 года назад

      William, I'm not sure why you are getting "black dot" at the connection. Which scale and brand of track are you using? As far as the center line in the cement plant, I just guessed on where to place it. I will tweak the location once I build it.

    • @williamlegg6542
      @williamlegg6542 3 года назад

      I discovered why I had a black dot. In settings under connection it was set to 1/32. I changed it to an inch and it fixed the issue.

    When you mentioned fast tracks and all the items are there, That is not so, I am in On30 and that does not have fast tracks but they do make On30 items.

    • @brownjm74
      @brownjm74  4 года назад

      Tom, You would be correct. I just checked out the libraries files and there are no Fast Tracks for O or On30. I would contact AnyRail to see if they plan to release those track parts. I am so sorry about that!
