    Def Leppard are one of England’s biggest musical exports to America. Chart topping albums and stadium shows they had the world at their feet in the late 80’s.
    But unfortunately for their guitarist and principle songwriter (Steve Clark) the money and fame and ease of access to alcohol would take his life.
    In this video I pay a visit to his grave in Sheffield - the home of Def Leppard.

    Thank you for this, I’m an American, and Def Leppard is so massive here is ridiculous. When you said alcohol is the devil it is. My ex husband would drink whisky in his coffee before work, and a fifth each night. If he didn’t have it or I’d hide it, he would shake massively. It scared me death. We are divorced now for 11 years and still have custody of our child. My son ( his step son says mom “ he looks like he’s on deaths door” he’s not even 50 yet. He was an alcoholic for over 30 years. I had to go to Alonon to deal with everything. Steve was brilliant, they have dealt with so much tragedy. They have come back again, I saw them on the summer tour, but the magic is not the same😢

      Oh Tiffany I’m so sorry to read this, I used to work in supporting people with additions and alcoholics I found the hardest - unpredictable and normally volatile. I’m sorry someone you cared so much about couldn’t move past his addictions, I’m sure he tried and I’m sorry he’s not doing too good. This is a moment in your life and it’ll pass and think of the good things that came from the marriage.
      Never need thank me for a video.. this video was made on a very hard day for me and I needed to get away and so made this, it’s a special video to me because I know what was happening in the background. All the best to you all.

    Back in January 1985, I was in the Royal Hallamshire hospital Sheffield, having an operation on my hand. The chap in the room next to me was Rick Allan, the drummer from Def Leppard who had recently lost his arm in a horrific car accident. I wanted to talk to him but I chickened out. We had the same surgeon, Dr Page. Well, that's my tenuous connection to Def Leppard. Great stuff, thanks for another informative video, my friend.

      Dude, I don’t wish to be rude but HOW OLD ARE YOU! I thought we were the same age but I wasn’t born when you were in that hospital lol. That’s a cool story really interesting love stories like that.. how was your hand?

    • @Seany63
      @Seany63 2 года назад

      @@TheContinuingStories My hand is fine now thanks, it was badly burned in a fire so I had to have a skin graft. I asked the doctor if I would ever be able to play the guitar again. He said yes, then he reminded me that the chap in the next room was a drummer who had lost an arm. It kind of put things in perspective. Well, it pains me to admit it but I am 58 years young, lol.

      Thank you Lana - musicians are still alive that’s their gift and their legacy and it’s a great thing to leave behind.
      Taken far too young and the pain that causes the family is heart breaking.
      It’s sad they can’t produce more but they’re immortal to you and that’s powerful ❤️

    It never ceases to amaze me how you produce videos that either relate to my family or are in areas they have strong links to. In this case there's a lot of my family history related to the Loxley area though much is still a mystery until the next census is released next year. Granted time wise a lot will be earlier than the subject matter in some of the uploads but the '6 degrees of separation' comes in so often I find it spooky at times.

    nice video, I am from Toronto in 2010 I went to London and drove 6 hours north to Sheffield just to pay my respects to Mr Clark, spent a few minutes looking realized it is a real cemetery and had to be respectful, best way I can describe how to find the site is from the entrance there is a road that forks, go to the left and a few roles down and you would find Mr Clark

      Hey man, yeh that’s the best way to do it. When I started this channel I found it impossible to find graves but it’s weird how you get used to them lol. I did a little bit at the end on how to find the grave.
      I’ve travelled so SO many North American cities but Toronto has always escaped me.
      I wish you had commented before you went - if it’s taking you 6 hours from London you’ve gone the wrong way ;) I’m sure you had some sightseeing stop offs I’m just being funny ;)
      Hope you enjoyed the UK like I enjoyed Canada ✌️
