  • The old, worn-out reflector from a Porsche 911 996 headlight is upgraded by Retrofitlab.com to a bi-xenon HID projector. This conversion to bi-xenon is a really big upgrade for the lighting/headlight (and for the looks :-)). With this custom aftermarket headlight upgrade, your Porsche really gets a more modern look with improved light output.
    For part 2 of the video;
    • Porsche 911 996.1 986....
    𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝘂𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘂𝗽𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗸𝗶𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲:

    𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆:
    The kit can be used to upgrade the pre-facelift Porsche 911 996 halogen reflector headlights (996.1), as well as the Porsche Boxster 986 headlights.
    Custom designed mounting brackets are used to replace the yellow reflector with a D2S bi-xenon Aharon projector.
    𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗥𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁:
    We have used the Porsche Panamera replica shrouds, this can also be replaced by a different shroud, but normally it has to be one with an angel eye / halo to serve as the daytime running light, because the OEM DRL is removed.
    𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀:
    • Improved light output - The light output of the Aharon bi-xenon projector is just so much better it's incomparable with the original worn out yellow halogen reflector.
    • Bi-xenon - Because a bi-xenon projector is used, low and high beam are done via the projector.
    • Aharon Optimus NT bi-xenon projector - This top of the line bi-xenon projector can hold D2S bulbs, which is an OEM xenon bulb type and high quality bulbs can be used, like Osram and Philips.
    • Updated/upgraded looks - The original yellowed reflector headlights doesn't do the looks of the Porsche much good. And aftermarket headlights can look "over the top" and 'cheap', which you don't want on your valuable Porsche. With the Panamera shrouds the Aharon kit has an OEM+ look.
    • Easy installation - Yes, it does take some time/DIY but the retrofit itself is quite easy and certainly doable for somebody that has some basic DIY skills.
    • Cost efficient - It doesn't need much explanation that the kit is cheaper than 2 new headlights from Porsche :-).
    So if you are looking for Porsche 911 parts for a headlight upgrade / conversion, for example to upgrade the yellow headlights, this is the ultimate solution.

    𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆:
    Retrofitting refers to the addition of new technology or features to older systems. These days there are a lot of people who put a simple plug & play xenon kit in their halogen headlight housing in an attempt to improve night vision and looks of their vehicle. In fact they don’t realize that their headlight beams are often worse than before. Night vision achieves relatively little improvement on night vision because of a poor beam pattern, which increases the blinding of other road users. This is because their headlight housings are designed for halogen and not xenon.
    A true Bi-Xenon projector update is now possible for your car. Such an upgrade will significantly improve your light output from 700-2100 lumens to 2800 and 3500 lumens, without blinding other traffic with glare from your headlight. Upgrade your headlight OEM style!
    The latest high power Led bulbs will upgrade both the exterior and interior lighting system of your car. Led lighting is becoming more and more popular in the automotive market for obvious reasons. They have longer lifetime, use less energy and improve safety with their fast response time.
    Do you have any questions? Do not hesitate to contact us, we are happy to help you out!
    Good luck with your retrofit!

    I really appreciate how none of this wiring is the same on the led kit, there are no instructions, and no specific video to show how to wire it. Real great customer service guys. Don't feel like I've been taken for a fool with money, at all.

    Hi, i'm a bit confused with the spacers for mounting the OEM ball joint things. On the video you used 50mm for black plastic piece, 20mm for white plastic piece and 10mm for cream plastic piece. Near the end you said you changed. Can you clarify the changes? I used the spacer setup I just mentioned but it sees the light is pointed towards the side of the housing. Same car 996.1. Thanks

    • @Retrofitlab
      @Retrofitlab  3 года назад

      That should be correct (the spacers). Normally you should be able to adjust it sideways with the adjustment screws. Maybe you can also compare it with how it sits in part 2 ruclips.net/video/cC1Oucv3xDI/видео.html

      I have the same question and the answer given really isn’t an answer or a great one .
      & my car (2000 996.1 with halogen oem) has an adjusting marker, there is no mention of this or what to do ‽

    • @that_biker_boy5550
      @that_biker_boy5550 Год назад

      Does anyone know what the fix was to this? I’ve followed the video precisely and they everyone else, my projector housing is pointing off to the side wildly! I’ve tried to turn the adjustment ‘dials’ to get it back straighter and it seems to make almost no difference.
      I need the car for work soon and this is really slowing my down re-fitting it all!
      Why couldn’t there just have been simple printed instructions? 🤷‍♂️
      Even with the video it’s taken a tonne of guess work trying to work out with screws to use and what should and shouldn’t have washers!
      Been a nightmare! 😂🤦‍♂️

    • @that_biker_boy5550
      @that_biker_boy5550 Год назад +1

      … Ok solved it!
      For anyone that encounters this problem, there are three cream coloured adjustment holes on the side of the headlight casing, that accept a 5mm Allen key and would be accessible from the inside of your frunk when the headlight is mounted…
      The stock headlight is MUCH further forward than these retrofitlab ones and I had to wind the adjusters a LONG way back, it’s not a small adjustment.. If you only turn the adjusters (with your 5mm Allen key) a couple of turns you’ll be convinced the headlight build is still wrong..
      But if you keep turning them for what feels like forever, you can finally get your projector housing pointing straight in the headlamp. I used the two adjusters that are stacked on top of each other…
      Top one tips top of the projector baseplate (bracket forwards or backwards) and the bottom adjuster does the same for the bottom of the baseplate (bracket) I hope that helps the next girl/guy!
      Goodluck! 👍

    Thats pretty cool, but it wouldnt work for me. Bro if I tried this I would ruin my headlights, I cannot do all that. I wish someone around here offered this service, i’d rather pay someone than potentially destroy them myself.

      With this specific headlight, a screwdriver works as easy as the permaseal tools. Also because this is not a very difficult permaseal, the screwdriver works also works well.

    At 39:18 you point to a rubber, can i buy that rubber separately? Also, do you know the length of the D2S to Amp adapter which plugs into the bulb and exits out the rear cover and connects to ballast, the one you're holding at 37:14

    • @Retrofitlab
      @Retrofitlab  Год назад

      Hi, yes the rubber can be purchased separate, please send us an email (info@retrofitlab.com) so we can send you a custom link. The length of the cable is about 20/25 cm.

    Which is better for this headlight, a bi-hid or a bi-led?

    • @Retrofitlab
      @Retrofitlab  3 года назад +3

      It really depends on your own preference. Both options have pros/cons in comparison with each other.
      Bi-Led is a newer technology, it is instant on, has less components, so it's more modern.
      Xenon HID has a longer start up time and is a tiny bit harder to install because of the ballast. But you can choose the color temperature of the bulb,bulb and ballast can be changed in case something fails. And also, with a good bulb like Osram, light output and pattern is still a bit better.

      The box is quite big and not really sealed/insulated, so it won't get as hot as the setting on the heatgun. Also there needs to be a good distance between the heatgun and the headlight, because otherwise, it will melt.
