  • Hey everyone!
    It was about time i did somthing about the terrible exhaust, on my old Ford 555 Backhoe.
    I ended up building a whole new stack and fabricated a "rain-clap" for it, and also fixed a few other parts of the exhaust, along the way.
    A simple, little project. but i'm quite happy with the result!
    Thanks for watcing along!

    I really have no problem with your long video. The reason i'am hooked to this channel is, I like to hear your explanations about what you're doing and the reason why you do or don't do for something. Keep share your video.

    Keep making long videos. Your channel is one of the few on RUclips whose content is good enough to keep the viewer's attention, no matter how long it is.

    Builders tip.
    When trying to roughly plumb something line it up against a building corner in the background (inside, in your case)

      @@KJOff-Road If you can stand back far enough, and get two separate directions this method is surprisingly effective for non-critical things (a temporary power pole at a construction site, for example)

    The little hinged rain caps are called "Dink dinks" here in Australia, it's the noise they make at idle.😁.

      @erik_dk842 7 месяцев назад +1

      I think he added to much counter weight, so it's not dinking at idle, like it's supposed to. I remember Allis Chalmers wheel loaders with 3 inch exhausts as a child.

    It’s great if you have the means and ability to fabricate and weld rather then buy a mass produced item, From a welding fabrication and machinery background I to would have done exactly the same. love the longer videos with progress at the finish🇬🇧🇮🇪.

    Original exhaust pipe was made by nelson burgess was round in section and not oval, the pipe in and out of the baffle were offset, the pipe out had a gradual elbow to direct the smoke away.

    You're not bad bro'! I don't have to do mine for RUclips, which is just as well. I got some angles rough; though it went together well & nobody looks at the welds. They are sound and sealed albeit not as attractive as your welds. It does show everyone how much goes into those small improvements to maintain the equipment. I found it was easy to sit back and see someone else doing the work today (that will be you). Thanks for posting the stuff you find yourself challenged with or confronting in the swing of daily TeamArmyTrucks. I will be sticking with my sub to your channel.

    Hello excellent job but I am going to critique you just a little bit but it’s going to make good sense you’re exhausted pipe needs a clamp to seal the exhaust better or else you outer air filter is going to fill up with sut ( not sure of the spelling) and plug up and it will choke it. I know your logic is so it’s easy to remove but you might want to raise the joint above the hood a few inches so the air cleaner won’t pick up the exhaust so easily and the hydraulic pump works best between 1800-2000 RPM it won’t be so jerky but sorry if I was out of line 😀🇨🇦

    Ah, a man of culture - rain caps are cool looking indeed. Also - just how much experience with the grinder you have to be smoothing an edge on a workpiece with a grinding wheel, while holding it in hand? Or is it just confidence? Either way - respect.
    PS. - What kind of gloves are you using to do it? I see that they are not fabric since, well, working an angle grinder in fabric gloves is a ... not a good thing, and thus it's probably some sort of polymer? Can you name the brand or type?

    • @jimurrata6785

      I can always tell an experienced fabricator when they are freehanding with a cutoff disc or flap wheel. 😁

    • @KJOff-Road
      @KJOff-Road  7 месяцев назад +2

      Probably just a lot of experiance, doing the right thing, the wrong way. and too much trust, in my cheap disc's :)
      I'm using "SoftFlex" gloves, from "Wurth" but i have seen the same gloves, with different brand names on them.
      They are not the best for this kind of work, but they are great all-round gloves. and i like the fit and feel of them :)
