Her song “Fallen” is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. She became an independent artist & still teaches the kids in her town how to dance til this day.. a true class act!
Mya came out in 1998 about 4 years after Aaliyah, Brandy, and Monica and was also a teen r&b act with some crossover success ( I think she was about 18). Her first single is "It's All About Me" featuring Sisqo of r&b group Dru Hill. "Case of the Ex", "Free", "Fallen" are also good songs. She made a song called "After the Rain" dedicated to Aaliyah and Left Eye from TLC after they both passed away. As you can see she is an incredible dancer that was trained in ballet, jazz, and tap since she was a small child.
Mya was a bop factory in the late 90s and early 2000s, but then seemingly disappeared. She’s one of the artists that kind of got effed over by her label, but this was in no way her only hit; not even her biggest. Check out her album called Fear of Flying for some great pop/r&b songs.
Mya isn’t a one-hit wonder but she was blackballed in the music industry as she said no to some very powerful/influential people. Her own label sabotaged her career going so far as leaking one of her albums before official release.
Mya was about 23 when this video was released she's now 44 and still looks as young as she did when she was 23. She has a song and video called "Fallen" you should definitely add to your future reactions list.
Mya never got enough love as far as I’m concerned. I have a soft spot for Fear of Flying and Moodring. I think she shines in the non singles. I don’t think she was ever properly promoted. She could have had so many singles. Her videos could have helped in making her a bigger star.
This was massive, and Mya was one of the biggest early 00's rnb stars! She is insanely talented. Case of the Ex, It's All About Me, and Lady Marmalade with P!nk, Lil Kim and Christina Aguilera are amazing.
She’s not a one hit wonder but this song wasn’t a big hit in the uk even though it’s one of her best. Her biggest solo hit is Case of the Ex which is INCREDIBLE. Her other big hits in the uk are Ghetto Superstar, Free and Lady Marmalade
This is her one woman talent show! It is a fantastic performance. It is so hard to pull off being a solo dancer through an entire music video. And the tap breakdown is beautiful. Tour de Force I think "they" call it.
I love how tickled you were! This is such a catchy song. I was lucky enough to have met Mya once, and she is stunningly beautiful in person with the sweetest demeanor.
Case of the ex is a great one by Mya. I hope you react to Amerie - One Thing. For sure another amazing artist. Still want to see a Shame by Tyrese reaction though 😊
This video and song were so underrated when they came out! I remember thinking why isnt this a smash on the radio? Apparently there were some things going on behind the scenes at her record label but regardless the song is Ace!!
Rapper Missy Ellliot and the Bereal brothers (Charles & Kenneth) are responsible for these catchy lyrics. It was played nonstop on the radio and video stations.
She was not drowned out by Aaliyah. Mya was selling just as much as Aaliyah & had hits back then. She was drowned out by Destiny’s Child, Brandy, TLC, Beyoncé.
I was in college and so bored with music videos at this point. This got me watching music videos again. Her first single was It’s All About Me featuring Sisqo. Then she had Movin’ On with a version with rapper Silkk the Shocker. People have already mentioned the other hits on this album. She has a song with Jay-z called Best of Me. She has songs on a few soundtracks: Ghetto Superstar with Pras of the Fugees and Ol Dirty Bastard of WuTang Clan on the Bulworth soundtrack; Cover of LaBelle’s Lady Marmalade with Pink, Lil Kim, and Christina Aguilera from Moulin Rouge, and Take Me There with Blackstreet from the Rugrats movie. There’s a song from her first album that was never a single called If You Died I Wouldn’t Cry that I found clever.
Hello @BTG! I really appreciate your reactions on your channel. Could you please react to Jill Scott’s “Whatever” and the live version and regular version of He Loves Me? Please and Thank you if so.
Honestly she was not that mainstream and was not that big of an artist. In 2003 Beyonce and Ashanti were the top new R&B female artists. This song made it to the top 20 on Billboard.
She may not have been as big as other artists from around that time, but she definitely achieved mainstream success! Her first 3 albums were platinum, and she has a decent amount of crossover hits
Her song “Fallen” is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. She became an independent artist & still teaches the kids in her town how to dance til this day.. a true class act!
"Fallen" is one of THEE best songs of all time!
Yes Fallen is one of her best songs.
It’s way catchier than this it’s my favorite!

Mya was so underappreciated. She has so much talent from dancing to songwriting to broadway.
Mya isn’t a one-hit wonder but she was blackballed in the music industry as she said no to some very powerful/influential people.

She looks damn beautiful now
Missy Elliott is such a great song writer. She’s written for so many different artists
Forget to mention Missy Elliot produced this. Def check out Fallen next it’s still stuck in my head sometimes 20 years later

The tap dancing WO❤️

I'll try Case Of The Ex next
I wouldn’t say massive. She never got enough love.
@@bridgethegapreactionsBest of Me or Fallen is probably her favorite song by her for me
@@taintedlife2618yeah, she had label issues right at her peak. Then she made choice to go independent. She still had an nice run.

She is equally gorgeous and alien-like talented. OMG. Great video
This was my song when I was learning how to pole dance!
If you’re looking for more Mya, definitely react to “Case of the Ex.” It’s her biggest solo hit and it’s a MONSTER of a song.
I love Mya ❤
❤ this song absolute 🔥 Went crazy when it came out.. definitely empowering!
She’s excellent 💣🔥💝

There’s a great live show performance of Usher, Mya, and Whitney Houston singing we gonna be startin’ something

Oh wow, I didn't know Missy was involved! That's awesome
@@bridgethegapreactionsyes, that’s Missy’s voice saying Whoa lol 😊
Omg Mya All About Me was one of my first songs I played in my car when I got my license!!! 😂😂
Mya been around for awhile.. you might like CASE OF THE EX… she was drowned out by Aaliyah
Great song 🎉

@@TPxxx3 Exactly. So many came bursting onto the scene. Not everybody has the ability to last, unfortunately. No matter how much we like them.
@@purpledragonfly313 yes Mya & Aaliyah were both underrated.
Haven’t seen this in years ❤
