I never understand why most great kickers go undrafted. I mean teams draft useless players they know they won’t use over an amazing kicker/punter. It makes no sense
I can't give you a definitive answer, but I think it has to do with the payoff potential. If you draft a kicker or a punter, you're basically committing to making them your starter. If you draft any other position in the later rounds, it doesn't look as bad if you end up cutting them.
Availability. Great kickers are about two or three percentage points better than average kickers. The difference between the best and the worst kickers in a given season is like, 95% vs 85%. The great kickers just place in the top consistently season after season. Some do draft kickers though. Bill belichick does it. Admittedly, last year he drafted a white nationalist that wasn't even good, but before he drafted gostkowski who was the patriots punter and kicker for fourteen years, a player who has kicked 41 of 46 fieldgoals in the playoffs. Including seven years with a 100% rating, three of which he kicked over 5 field goals in. And he wasn't a slouch in the regular season either. Jason Sanders, Harrison Butker were also both drafted and did very well last year (Butker for several years) Another thing, is the pressure. A drafted kicker must make *every* kick, or he has failed to live up to expectations. Because a guy off the street doesn't miss many kicks anyways. So it can hurt the development of a young kicker
Bears traded a seventh for a kicker who did pretty good in 2019, then he got injured and Santos had one of the best seasons by a kicker on the Bears since forever. Also, why you remind me of the Double Doink. Just when I was starting to forget about it.
Why not try DMing these dudes on IG for their backstory when you can’t find it online? That’s what Flemlo Raps does, just a suggestion no hate. Love your videos btw❤️
It's so strange. I looked up the roster for thomasville alabama highschool 09-10 season and all the other seasons show the full roster but not that season. That season for some reason doesn't show all the players only 25 of them. I really feel like their was some strange thing that happened at that time that the highschool is trying to hide.
@@keithfn3504 Yessir, I try my best to not hate the bulldogs 😂 I like every other ATL and Georgia sports team tho, so that's why I don't hate UGA that much
I'm surprised the Aguayo brothers from Florida State aren't on here. Especially Roberto. Even tho he was one of the best college kickers EVER, maybe he wasn't noticed in his prep years. I'll have to look up their 247 scouting profile's.
Auburn Kicker U Wes Byrum Cody Parkey holds the NFL rookie record for points scored in a season. (Hasn’t quite been the since that groin injury though) Daniel Carlson is the SEC’s all-time leading scorer
Memphis has 2 kickers in the NFL (Jake Elliott and Stephen Gostkowski) and a 3rd about to join them (Riley Patterson). They have an incoming kicker who can kick from 60. It's not always about the recruiting numbers.
how about a top 10 of the guys that don't get the recognition they deserve, offensive lineman, any position really. Might not get views from the general public but I think all of us that follow you would like it.
I think it’s important to point out that Wes Byrum had 3 game winning kicks in that 2010 season and as a freshman kicker beat the 2007 Gators at Florida
Wish you could have gotten more on Wes Byrum. His stats weren't eye popping but he might be the most clutch kicker ever in CFB. Not including the National championship this guy kicked hella game winners.
Jay Williams was apparently beat out by a very good walk-on in the same class as him named Mandell. He's listed on their roster for 2010 but not 2011 so I guess he quit after not getting to start.
Justin Yoon from ND was the number 1 kicker coming out of his class, a 3 star and started as a freshman and holds the ND all time scoring record. So, I don’t know why you said that statement in the beginning of the video
What statement? "The ten best kickers all came from a 6 year stretch from 2006-2012." ? Justin Yoon was a 0.8519 (the 833rd overall player in his class). The 10th guy on this list, Tucker, was a 0.8573... so better than Yoon. Yoon was great at ND, but that's not the criteria for this list.
@@airprok8328 good for him. That's not the criteria for this ranking. This ranking is solely based on their composite scores and his wasnt better than Tucker, the last guy on the list
Adam vinateri has 2,673 career points. It's going to be difficult for Tucker to more than double his current stats the rest of his career because Tucker will hit the kicker wall within the next 3-4 seasons
You're welcome.
Okay
