super interesting! hope free alternatives arrive sometime
I'm not sure if Unity will ever give any offerings, unless they bundle them with the Pro Subscriptions or something similar :)
This is a game changer! Huge!
Is it something you'll use?
Absolutely! Looking at using it for my next game.
Which ones specifically? I'm always curious :)
I recently switched over to Unreal Engine and this convinced me to come back to Unity, but I originally switched to UE for Nanite. If Unity can implement a solution similar to Nanite for great height-map displacement in real-time, I might just switch back
Yeah I just said something similar. Unity needs a solution like UE5's VFX and bonus points if Muse can create VFX from a text description.
I keep getting ssl connection errors. Every time I try to generate an animation using Muse Animate it fails saying there was a SSL connection error. I assume it’s something on my end if you didn’t run into the same issues?
That would be something I'd take up with Unity support, as I'm not aware of this myself.
This looks interesting tho I don't see myself using any of those except for the chat AI. I'm curious if it can fix the laggy behavior in my script now. I'll give it a try.
Have you tried any of them yet?
@@SpeedTutor Not yet, I will try "chat" when I get to work on my code.
While cool, it's not free. Also, it's costly. Also, it's still limited in what it can do. Still in its early development phases and use cases. However it's a nice step forward and may encourage others to use Unity more in the future. Maybe they'll create a Muse VFX Ai where I describe what I want and it creates it. That would be nice. Cuz Unreal Engine 5 VFX is still like requiring a master's degree to know and use.
This is very true, I'm hoping that they have a bigger selection soon - With the inclusion of the audio and 3D texturing. Then the suite of tools would be more worthwhile.
I think generate animation is really big thing in unity editor
Is it something you think you'd use?
@@SpeedTutor yes unity muse chat because it is not see the difference between ChatGpt vs Unity muse chat
I was hoping to get sprite animations soon!
I was hoping for that too but I'm not sure when we will see that. It could be really good though. Is it something that really interests you?
They have a 15 day trial...but no information on the actual pricing as far as I can see. If they haven't figured out pricing, then why limit the trial to just 15 days?
I think its 30$ per month after
There is pricing on Unity MUSE site, next to Trial you have SUBSCRIBE button after which you click you have the pricing.
Thanks. I must be looking in the wrong place. I keep getting to the dialog with the "Start the trial" button for my organization, but still haven't seen anything about pricing. Don't want to actually start the trial until I have time to play with it...
That sounds about right!
My free trial ended. I tried it and had nothing but issues and errors so I gave up. This was about a month ago.
What was giving you most of the troubles?
sooocoooo, thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and can you create tutorials on full body fps with guns animations and lot more
I'll see what I can do :)
Woohoo! First! Can't wait!
Haha, thanks for coming to watch :P
Im so going to use these 15 days to make a 2d game entirely out of it just to see how well it goes
Haha, that's a good shout! Let me know how it goes :)
I don't know why they went with server-side AI for some of this. A local text-to-image model would be far better.
Unity can ran on potatoes. A local AI model on top of the unity editor concurrently would crash a lot of machines.
@@njerurichard3581 Easy to detect and disable the feature. Also, if it's their model, they can train it with as many parameters as they want.
Local LLM eats six gigs of RAM on the GPU to run at like 30 seconds per prompt By having it server side A) its faster B) they can scrape the data to train the AI further
@@Dave-rd6sp Its one thing if its simply an LLM. Text to image on the other hand? You would be lucky not to get garbage 99% of the time. Remember stable diffusion recommends at least 8GB VRAM, with 16GB system memory. Unity is probably using an openAI solution, so the requirements might even be more. A pc wih 8GB VRAM is not a potato either, so there's that. That said, it would be FANTASTIC if we could run locally as you suggest.
For subscriptions reasons.
dang! unity just beacame much smarter
Haha, you're the smart one really :)
I tried Muse and it was dreadful
What were your overall thoughts on it? I'd love to hear about it. As I sometimes get asked about what they could improve, so any feedback you have would be great! :)
@@SpeedTutor okay, fair question. Disclaimer first, I've used GitHub copilot and ChatGPT plus also, as comparisons. I'll be honest, I don't remember the details exactly. It was a couple of months ago and a lot of water under the bridge for me since then.
It felt like it was built in GPT 3.5 architecture, so limited reasoning, analytics and 'memory' or 'contextual awareness' based on the previous conversation. If it had the capabilities of 4o, it would be useful. I seem to remember having problems discussing code. If you don't know Unity at all and needed a tutor, it's probably useful.
It's a marketing strategy. Most of what it does is available for free. They are trying to make a quick buck on the side by throwing this in the face of developers. If it was free then it's an improvement. This is not cheap for everybody.
I agree, what sort of tools can you get for free?
And again, MUSE has everything at one place. Sure, just for that 30$ a month or whatevet the price is, is a bit high. But if you really trying to sell games and it fasten your workflow, the price is good
I think with their future offerings it would be a more compelling feature set.
im too cheap to get it but time is money, baby
if it works well, it would be absurdly convenient just to tell unity to make whatever you want, and it gets it done with zero effort from you
especially for tasks that take lots of tweaking and nuance like textures, pbr, audio creation and editing
Why anyone would subscribe for services like this when it's available for free
What sort of solutions do you have for free?
@@SpeedTutor stable diffusion is free for making images, free mocap available too for animations textures stable diffusion again. There are decent numbers free AI services available.
Agreed
You seriously ask this question? 🤔 WTF?
I always try and engage with the people who take the time to post and I always learn new things too. :)
2023, okay, not interesting for me, yet.
I wonder what source material they use.
I highly doubt Unity has artist who create all that stuff to feed the AI
They supposedly have a safely trained model but no particular extra detailed other than it doesn't get trained on copyrighted content like most others.
You could demonstrate and test complicated and interesting animations, but too bad you’ve chosen the most generic “walk”.
And even this simplest animation doesn’t loop.
You can set the animation to loop the pose but I couldn't get that working, I may need to ask around about working out best to use the features. I was just doing a simple showcase in each case so the video wasn't too long. If you'd like a longer video on it, I could definitely do that :)
Imagine being a sucker who decides not to use AI to aid with their project. By that logic why are you using Unity at all? Why not develop your own platform from scratch like we used to have to do?
I guess it's each to their own but Unity have developed their own model which doesn't directly take from unregulated places. To keep the faith in the long term.
