Nuzlocke Ruleset:
1. If a Pokémon faints, then it must be permanently boxed.
2. I can only catch the first encounter on each Route.
3. No bag items in battle, except for pokéballs. (Held items are allowed)
4. Must be played on "Set" battle mode.
5. Cannot level over the next gym leader/elite 4's highest level pokémon.
Leave a comment if you think I could have done something better, or if you have an idea of what future challenges I should do.

Who's your MVP for this challenge? Let me know!
Shell armour Torterra. Very reliable!
Politoad the rain setter is the mvp and kingdra together but drizzle politoad is good
Technician Scizor: I got lucky with that encounter, but it was able to sweep pretty much anything with swords dance, bullet punch and bug bite. SO broken
Togekiss and Substitute Breloom
Have played this many times and it’s usually milotic or tangrowth. Both so bulky
that aaron fight is a huge run killer, the fact you didnt prep for it and didnt lose outright is a huge win
I think Lucian is much worse
Alakazam with counter n scarfs
That sounds alot scarier than most people realize
@@nateschendel4585 i mean yeah alakazam with counter will kill a mon if you dont know its coming but the rest isnt that hard if you have a decent team. that aaron fight is pretty hard because he has all fully evolved pokemon at a stage where you likely dont have many fully evolved pokemon and a lot of the mons he has have buffed stats and will wreck your team. i wiped to it because my team wasnt healed and i didnt expect a battle there so i just full on wiped, but even with planning it wasnt super easy. obviously encounters play into it but i think early game fights are usually the ones that murder you because you dont have many encounters. later on in the game yoi should be able to have encounters to beat most teams with planning. you can also manipulate certain encounters to guarantee a specific pokemon in a route as well.
I didn`t count it. Aaron says that it`s okay if i lose.
Even with strats, his Dustox can do super unexpected things. I was planning on Stealth Rock w/ Gligar > switch and Sub w/ Umbreon > Baton Pass to Togetic > Nasty Plot x3 > Baton Pass to Quilava with level edged to 27 and max speed evs > Lava Plume the entire team. Well, the AI apparently knows that Gligar _might_ have the Immunity ability, and therefore, the Dustox didn't try to Toxic on either of the first two turns - landed a Bug Buzz on my Umbreon, and because it was faster, it landed a second, which crit killed. I still managed to set up the Nasty Plots with Togekiss and Lava Plume, but the level edge wasn't close enough due to split xp and his Drapion came in, outsped and wiped me.
The other run killers in this game:
First Barry fight (if you play with deaths before Poke Balls as a loss)
Second Barry fight - he's given an almighty powerful Munchlax that has an insane attack stat, you need to be lucky, there's no real encounters you can get to counter it
Mira in Wayward cave without prep. Kadabra is super fast and strong, but that Porygon-2 is a nightmare
Rival on 207. Lucas' Granbull has so much coverage that you're just not expecting, and Dawn has a Scrappy Lopunny, so Ghost strats won't work. Other rival fights aren't too bad because you can abuse Choice items and other stuff, but this one just pops up out of nowhere and is a massive difficulty spike in terms of rival fights.
Aaron, as above
The Saturn+Backlot/Barry+you fight if you don't do the right things. Taking out 1 side leaves you with a 2v1, or at worse, a 1v1. Nothing worse than being 1v2 in that fight.
Pastoria Barry - first time he's really difficult, and if you don't know it's coming, you have your Wake team ready and then he ambushes you
After that, it's mostly what's covered in the video - Darach (why the fuck does he have an Entei?!), Riley, Candice (if you're not prepped for Glaceon, Hail + Snow Cloak + Double Team + Bright Powder + Blizzard with no accuracy check), the 12v12 (DocZ got really lucky here - in FlygonHG's first attempt, the Electivire came out on Barry's Snorlax and one shot it which led to a loss), then Cyrus 2+6v6, Marley after Victory Road and Lucas/Dawn afterwards too.
The elite 4, from what I've seen (haven't gotten there yet myself, furthest attempt is Wake so far), isn't actually difficult, because the teams are too spread out, so there's no real concentration of power in any team other than Cynthia's original team if that's what she uses. Even then, as long as you bring a counter for the guaranteed Pokemon, like Garchomp and Milotic, you're super fine.
I see how it can be a run killer but also I didnt see it coming and dam near had a sweep basto the don am boost back to back bug buzz proof sweep everything to his drapion came in
Pokemon Renegade Platinum is the reason why Manaphy is my favorite Pokemon of all time. I saw PC's videos and saw him put it at B tier around Blastoise, so I thought using it would be fine. But after I got it, every battle basically became "send in Pelipper, switch to Togekiss and Encore into something unfavorable. Switch to Manaphy, Tail glow and sweep, resting off the damage. Love you Manaphy
Saw you on r/stunfisk with your rankings of fully evolved pokemon of each type, your dedication is amazing! There's no way I can type that much words for a consistent amount of time.
@@linsteven9163 thanks a lot
@@albabimam1114 That was fast
Togekiss in renplat is so good
@@CharlieGreasby it's borderline broken lol
My god that damn Ad transition was one of the best I've ever seen before.
This man is slowly killing off the drayano hit list
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Okay, got to say... I couldn't help but smile when I saw what they had done for the Mars and Jupiter double fight. In the Pokemon Adventures manga, Jupiter has a tangrowth, a gastrodon and a sableye, and Mars has an electivire and a bunch of yanmega(s ? ae ?). And she has a Kangaskhan in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Adventure! Same for Helio and Magnezone.
And I LOVE these references.
i’m glad someone also saw this! The Manga gives really interesting pokemon to the main line characters which makes them super more diverse and less of the same with multiple poison types and stuff like that!
Yeah, although just to say she didn’t own all of those Yanmega, she had just one as part of her actual team.
And Cyrus used Magnezone
I'm pretty sure the plural of all pokemon is just their name with no changes, so more yanmega would be referred to as "a bunch of yanmega"
I’m sorry, WUT?! Turtwig knows *freaking earthquake?* WHAT?!
GG on the win btw!
Yeah he gets it in the base game too
@@AlyxIsSpelledWeird turtwig doesnt learn it, but torterra does
That magnezone death to houndoom was pure genius
It just had to happen
@@DocZ why did u name Barry 8:49
@@DocZ I would say you are pretty good at nuzlockes
I think if you want to be the best beat emerald kaizo and radical red hardcore difficulty nuzlocke first
@@nateschendel4585 kaizo😵
Blastoise is actually amazing in this game and same with empoleon because u can use them as bulky yawn protect users
Same with Torterra. He can take any hit like a champ and the fact he can't get critical hit. Even you can stalling your opponent.
36:36 I’ve noticed that too. Sometimes, if you have Motor Drive, Lightning Rod, Storm Drain, Sap Sipper, Flash Fire, ETC in a multi battle, the AI will purposefully use the moves that trigger the ability on you to boost your stats
Tiny optimization: ice beam actually did do more damage to dialga because of spread reduction, so there was no need to risk kiss to surf crit. Overall great run and great content!!
Well you're right. He should not have risked surf crit there. +2 moonblast still would had killed but surf is actually more damge there. Simple math. Surf= 95*1.5 (Stab)*1.5 (Rain)
213.75÷2(resistance)=106.875 and ice beam is still just 90
@@realblazing391 right except you forgot to factor in spread reduction. All moves that target more than one mon in double battles do 75% of the damage they would normally do, so take 106 and multiply it by .75, which makes it less than 90.....
Just to explain further: Earthquake's power in a double battle is 75, not 100. This is one of the reasons high horsepower was run on excadrill more commonly than earthquake when sand was good in early vgc2020
@@alessiopiscitelli2749 oh I actually didn't know that. Thanks for telling me.
Oh, I guess that's the reason why I was always shocked to see when I use water spout kyogre and the damage output won't be able to knockout stuff like xerneas, zygarde which will normally take out in singles.
But palkia was dead so the spread damage is still applied?
when i played renegade platinum i was hella mad for some reason that riley had a lv 49 sala because it was literally *ONE* level away from evolving
bro i came across you like last month and i've been HOOKED on your content since, keep it up man!
Misty is proud of her babies with that Fantina sweep
In the Wake fight, I led with Intimidate Feraligatr, switched to Gyarados w/ Leftovers, Substitute + Dragon Dance, then Return sweep.
Also, Counter is negative priority
Congrats on the 20K milestone. Keep up the good work
I'm so hype for this run. Good luck!
you're an insanely good and smart nuzlocke player, love your vids, keep up the good work, you deserve more !
I'm so happy you returned to the narrated format. Thanks!
havent even watched a single second and i still know this is going to be an awesome video
I liked the video as soon as it started because I knew I would enjoy it
Been asking for this! Love it!
Lucian's Alakazam isn't slow. Counter has negative priority which makes it go 2nd
this dude calls himself second best nuzlocker and dont knew that. i was pretty upset
@@dragodjordje2425 Calls himself? So not proven?
Honestly I watched it on stream but feel good to see you also on video good job keep it up !!!
Good suff!
I'd love to see additional fights pt. 2 :)
Counter Alakazam works because of Magic Guard guaranteeing Focus Sash stays intact. It also naturally hides LO damage so you don’t reveal Sash. It works because alakazam still hits hard and Counter allows it to be a reliable revenge killer
Awesome video. You can also sweep Roark with just a Geodude. Barring you don't get critted. The nosepass cannot damage you, or status effect you and he does not swap. You just defense curl, rock polish and sweep
congrats on 20k!!
I'd love to see some of the other battles from this run!
the arcanine using wild charge was amazing
Literally came to the comments to say that.
Not the first time I’ve rewatched any of your content. PC needs to react to you my guy!
The alakazam Lucian was using isn't slow, counter has negative priority
I wasn’t thinking the same thing he was probably just burned out and forgot
My boy getting sponsored! Let’s go!
Glad to see another upload I missed the vids
Man 17:49 is super funny nowadays because Blastoise is like the meta when it comes to Nuzlocking this game now lmao
You can delay Wartortle's evo to like 44 or something to teach it Water spout, which combined w/ Drizzle and choice scarf/specs it one shots like everything
I love your videos and think your channel is very underrated. Love from India
That transition into the ad, got me lol very cute
I just liked it when Nick said he would take a flamethrower, from the Houndoom but the crit was very unfortunate
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO
Great Challenge and video!
Would love to see a hardcore nuzlocke of radical red hardcore mode
I’m currently running this game with a different rules set I’m making hardcore plus. Same rules but it bans EVS, Caps every single boss fight (think required trainers Cheryl) makes optional battles required and then no setup. It makes for a really interesting challenge as in this game it’s super easy to setup. Maybe after you run a few more games your could come back to this one!
idk if you mind a suggestion, but I suggest the removal of all pokemon received via trade and gift pokemon, they make it way too easy
@@LeebobVGC true, depends
In the case of gift pokemon, 1 per team is pretty balanced i think. Tbf, getting like 12 encounters for strong pokemon before gardenia is kinda busted though
I don’t like those type of rule sets because it takes the game out of the players hands. You could get bad encounters that make it impossible to win without relying on RNG
never thought i’d be able to look in Doc Z’s box
Best Part = He is World's "Second" Best Nuzlocker
Nah, that title goes to FlygonHG. Doc is 3rd best nuzlocker tho.
Who is the best one😂
@@unmployedvillager7341 how is flygon the second?
DocZ is the best nuzlocker, he beat Renegade Platinum on first attempt. Pchal took 84 attempts.
@@glowstonelovepad9294 whos videos over renegade platinum do you think Doc Z watched for help?
THE CONTENT I WAS WAITING FORRR
Good vid man! Keep it up, nowhere but up buddy👍
Well thanks for the anxiety rollercoaster
Ps love your vids
This game bopped my sh$t several times, cannot imagine doing a nuzlocke.
Counter has negative prio, thats why Alakazam was slower @45:50
Dang, that smooth transition
Currently playing this game with a friend of mine as a soullink without EVs. We're on attempt 16 and it's really hard but oh my god is it fun
Moves like counter and mirror coat will always go last regardless of the user's speed
I'm honestly surprised that the hack contained a new type, or introduced concepts such as variable E4 teams.
Dope transition to the sponsor 😂
This run hack was my first challenge run even though right now definitely not the hardest hack but man was it fun
ngl that ad transition got me
2:05 from my experience in sacred gold, the second and third gym are the hardest parts in the game
Seconded. I got absurdly good RNG against bugsy, so got passed him with just one death, but I still have no clue how I managed to survive Whitney in that game.
I swept wake with a jolly, technician bullet seed brelom
Congratulations🥳
Damn...i wiped to Aaron a few times already and this guy just wings it :D
i love how he never realized that Counter is negative priority
Let's see all the extra fights!
Clean transition
The read on that alakazam was insane
This is gonna be amazing renegade platinum is the best gen 4 remake
This was my fav vid man
yes separate video for other boss fights, cant get enough nuzlocke content!!!
The fact that you name your Pokémon after careers is so funny I love it
For real shit is hilarious
i loved this video man
me: having a bad day
Sees DocZ uploaded
Day even worse :)
lmao
Very nice video love to see it
man calls staryu starmie. good video btw
Pchal bans setup moves for a reason. They're so broken that any hardcore nuzlocke could become that easy. (Except for EK 'cause that game is a beast.)
docz: I'm not going to plan anymore
literally docz the next fight: everything is going according to plan
gonna go with renplat for my first romhack on hardcore rules, would you suggest i go in blind or use documentation?
I know not everyone would, but I'd love to see a full nuzlocke from start to finish. Grinding and all. Do you literally train everyone, or do you rare candy them up? The process must take forever when you lose mons or switch up teams
Even better. A video on how you do nuzlockes, like training, evs and move sets would be amazing
Such a quality vid!
A-aron's dustox can be cheesed easily with substitute and setup
clean ad transition
If I lose a couple more I might do what you did and take every gift mon.
YES WE DID IT BOYS, WE GOT THE LEGEND TO 20K SUBS, LET'S GO
This game is incredible
16:07
‘Surfer user Surf’
What gave you that idea, genius?
Oh yeah, and again at 27:18
take a shot every time a raid shadow legends ad plays
I didn’t even know alakazam could learn counter XD
“you know what I don’t care” after pelliper died to a wrongful stone edge was actually hilarious
The fact that Scizor didn't have focus sash counter, or sturdy counter
Which version of renegade platinum are you playing? The one I have downloaded seems to be different
Hi, this summary is super helpful actually, but I wanted to ask what your team was for the pokemon mansion under hearthome, i died there 3 consecutive times...
Do you hack candys on your runs? You play with evs? Does the enemies have perfect ivs? Ty
Best Quote in the video
I have no faith in you
Takes half health from +3 Drapion
What do you use to get the sprites in the layout
Damn you made this look so much easier than flygonhg 😂😂
Love this rom hard but very fair
My dude covered himself in grease and slid smoothly into that ad.
the aaron fight isnt a loss depending on your rules bc you dont actually blackout if you lose to him
But if all your Mons are dead, then it doesn't matter, a loss is a loss and gotta start over
@@ItsFireTiger depends on your rules. everyone has different nuzlocke and hardcore nuzlocke rules. most common is only a loss when you see the screen that says "you whited out"
@@kobainreid85 But your Pokemon are still fainted so then you'd have to catch another Mon then box all fainted ones
I'm currently working on this one at the moment
Surfshark is so clutch for nuzlockes
Substitute is so busted in this game
im new to pokemon games and am about to finish a vanilla heartgold run, will renegade platinum be too hard for me? Im just a casual player, and the only reason im considering renegade plat is because of the qol improvements it has but the increased difficulty seems scary
lol, counter is a revenge move like payback or mirror coat or revenge
I swear these ROM hacks are 10x better than official remakes
