I am a Punjabi. I support Kannadigas on their stand. They are 100% right.
If I visit Bengaluru for short term, I'll manage in English But if I move to Bengaluru for long term, I'll learn Kannada.
If Karnataka is feeding me, then it's my obligation to respect local language and culture by learning and dealing in it.

The versions that are spoken today....are not continuous in their form as they were in the ancient times ......So, please don't boast just on the name of present form as it is quite different from the classical tamil or kannada.....The only thing remains is that they are not renamed anything else.....
Whereas, with hindi, it is the same language which has evolved to a greater extent through the period of time.... As it was previously known by different names as Hindustani,etc.. So, stop calling it a child.....And do not claim your originality as you yourself do not speak the same version as it was spoken previously and I am saying this as a half- Tulu myself.....👍

SYED Faiz masha allah hindustani zaindabad Urdu was born in Kannada land -in Bidar .Bidari was the first name for Urdu. The interaction between army elites who knew only Turkish Persian and Arabic etc and locals in Deccan area who spoke Kannada Telugu Marathi and the common soldiers from north India speaking various North Indian dialects led to the formation of Bidari or Urdu It was and is also called Dakhinvi or deccani indicating its southern birth place . The success of Dakhnvi spurred the growth of the new language of Persian and Arabic words but Indian base to grow in northern places like Lucknow and then it later spread all over north India as Urdu Kannadigas have been involved in the creation and nurturing of several languages .Kannada Vijayanagar Emperor Krishna Deva Raya went out of the way to encourage Telugu .When Konkani Hindu people came for shelter from Goa after Portuguese’s inquisition they were welcomed and sheltered in coastal and interior where they coexist with Kannadigas till date When Tamil Brahmins were pushed out of tamilnadu by certain kings they were welcomed in places like Melkote Mysore and Hassan .Infact they have greatly enriched Kannada language and literature .When Tibetans were kicked out of Tibet by China they were welcomed and settled in Kushalnagar .Tulu and Kodava speakers have been coexisting without issues in Karnataka for centuries .English which is also now an Indian language ( there are more Indian users of English in India than in England )is thriving in Bengaluru today
When Jamaicans Caribbean’s Nigerians South Africans of today don’t have any qualms in using English, when Algerians ,Moroccans don’t feel French is a language of their former masters ,When entire South America uses Spanish and Portuguese which was the language or their former rulers there is nothing wrong in using English as our own language. Infact it is the best link language for a country like India if you determine to remove the colonial tag .
The punjabi speaking Muslims of Pakistan (vis a vis Bengali muslins of today’s Bangladesh )and Srilankan Sinhalese (vis a vis Srilankan Tamils) have learnt very badly what the consequences are of imposing one language on others in the Indian subcontinent
Indians as in most cultures value their language even more than religion or race
Being a protagonist of ones’ own language and an internationally useful language doesn’t make any Indian anti nationalist
The time has come to call Hindi imposers as anti nationalist

If you meant by this , am glad Karnataka didn't go the tamilnadu way, for us dravidian movement is something of pride and identity , am dravidian by race , lingually kannadiga , and an Indian by birth .
I'll suggest you some stores where you can get the entire collection of periyar , well you can get it by koimbedu busstand itself in Chennai .. collected works of periyar and also the famous why a independent tamilnadu ? , And it's your foolishness to say you want to respect a person you need to agree with everything he says ... Because migrated hindi person should not take the trouble of reading/learning other languages. From right after independence, our Delhi based central governments are providing all the facilities in their mother tongue only to hindi people in all the corners of the country to encourage migration from hindi states to all the corners of the country. Hindi person should not feel difficult to leave in any corner of the country. That is their intension behind all these. Only hindi people are getting these facilities, but not others. One simle example -- The safety precautions written on LPG gas cylinders in any state of India is written only in hindi.(which is one of the regional languages), but not in our language/any other language in our own state. That means our great central government is least bothered about non-hindi people's safety. This is just one small example. We can find thousands like this. (Central Government offices, Banking exams.. etc.. etc.) They changed the symbol of Indian currency Rupees to a hindi alphabet which was earlier *Rs*. If you people want to get all facilities what hindi people are getting, you should forget your mother tongue and become HINDIWALA by making your mother tongue as Hindi. India is becoming HINDIA in the hands our great central governments who have ruled till today. They are spending crores of rupees every year (In Indians tax paid money) to promote and spread *only hindi* to all corners of India. For that reason they are running *Hindi prachar sabha* in all the states to do prachar. Wish you all a very very .......... *HINDI DIWAS*. Hindi is the only luckiest language in India, who has got chance to celebrate its Diwas from central government all over the country. Gan S U say we have lost.. Honestly I don't care... 😂 No Hindi speaker demanded hindi be put up there.. No one cares.. Both a majority of Kannadigas and Non Kannadigas would probably read the signage in the English Language.. that's the truth.. We as a country have nothing better to do. . hence now we have started taking offence at signboards.. and yes just to point out, Kannadigas are very welcoming and nice people and polyglots.. as a North Indian, I personally am against the imposition of Hindi on Kannadigas, because that's wrong.. I just think the Karnataka govt. isnt doing enough to promote Kannada, amongst out staters. Bangalore is multicultural and the most cosmopolitan city in the country today. This is your opportunity to spread Kannada, make it more widespread.. It high time the Karnataka govt realizes that and actually propagates Kannada instead of using it as a political tool.

I grew up in Bangalore. Kannadigas are the most welcoming, nice people. Very well mannered and even the language tells us that. Imagine a language where you are called "Swami"! That tells us a lot. But during the 80s because of problems in the north, we had this big influx of people from the north. Gradually they brought in their gundagiri and aggressiveness into Bangalore. We never had a problem where when you had an accident on the road when people would take law into their own hands. You can now be beaten up. The typical north-Indian mentality of "Madrasi" is not acceptable. They all have a feeling that Hindi is a national language, and you always hear "you dont know the national language"? Hindi signs should be removed because the language is being forced on us.

Also, use Google. 53% (115 million) of Pakistan speaks Punjabi or a Lahnda related language like Seraiki, Pothwari or Hindko. So do tell us how they've forced Punjabis not to speak Punjabi. The rest of Pakistan thinks they favour Punjabi too much because there are so many Punjabis and an Indian is telling me our government hates Punjabi LOL!
Urdu isn't imposed, it's a lingua franca because over 70 languages are spoken in Pakistan and Urdu has the most in common with all major languages because it's a bridge between Iranic and Indic languages. People from the West of Pak in Balochistan and KPK as well as Gilgit-Baltistan speak Iranic languages like Pashto, Balochi, Chitrali, Shina etc and people from the East of Pak in Punjab, Sindh and Azad Kashmir speak Indic languages like Punjabi, Sindhi, Pothwari and Kashur.
Urdu was chosen on purpose because it was the language used by courts during the Mughal and British Empire and the majority of the people in modern day Pakistan already knew words from Urdu since it's related to all Pakistani languages except Burusho.

Regional languages have been wiped out by urdu in 🇵🇰, there is a resin why Punjabis in 🇵🇰 are ashamed of speaking Punjabi. Stop your lies.

These people(only those north indians who can't speak kannada) are living in karnataka for so long and are permanently settling here but still if they don't try to learn kannada then they don't deserve to be in karnataka . If I go to some north indian states then I should compulsorily learn hindi .
