I come from northern India and I stay in Bengaluru for more than 4 years because of my work. I respect the people of Karnataka, who are not just educated but also intelligent. You cannot force someone to talk Hindi, but you can request for it. What happens if someone from Karnatak comes to Bihar or other Indian states and asks the local people to speak Kannada?Would that sounds good to you?This also applies to them if you ask them to speak Hindi.

I am from Odisha , and I completely disagree with what that Odisha girl wanted to say....We have some Tamilians in our neighborhood, they speak Odia so fluently like their mother tongue....Even I also know many Punjabis, Gujrati people who are living in Odisha, believe me their Odia is more fluent than the locals...... Simple thing is you can't change a vast community like the Britishers did in past with us to learn English, you have to change yourself according to the region.....Karnataka is a big state, area wise also it is larger than many big developed countries . You went there for work ,so you have to change yourself....There is also a saying:- When in Rome ,do as the Romans do... I studied in Bangalore back in 1992 , kannadiga people are most loving and humble and i still can speak kannada. It has many sanskrit words and easy to learn . One should love and respect local language.
I have been in Bengaluru for the last 6 years. In my experience, I have met so many down-to-earth Kannadigas. Very polite ones. During the lockdown, my landowner called me and said if you are facing financial issues you don't have to pay me 3 months rent. I was moved by this gesture of his and my expenditure was minimal due to being with my family. I said I was fine, and from that moment, I had huge respect for him. If the problem can be resolved by learning basic Kannada words, then I don't think there's any harm in it, but even Kannadigas need to understand that forcing it on others will only make that person rebellious.
Im from Karnataka my regional language is Kannada and mother tongue is Tulu....and will come to North India and people call me madrasi (tamil nadu city's name) and they force me talk in hindi ...and i dont know it.... 😂 conclusion: I will not expect everyone from northen India to speak in kannada...if I want to stay there they I have to adjust....I should learn hindi.. I have been living in south india for a decade now. Studied in coimbatore - learned Tamil. Have malyalli frends - learns Malayalam. Working in bangalore - understand kannada and speaks basics. It is not mandatory to speak Hindi. Yes it would be good if people learn hindi. Same applies for North indians if they are working and living in south indian states.
I think Karnataka should introduce some levels of Kannada to be made mandatory to work in Karnataka. For example most employers in Germany expect you to clear A1, A2 German Language Levels.
We are happy to see such movement in Karnataka and Tamilnadu. We marathi people lost respect for our marathi because of reluctance. If someone raise voice for marathi we are treated as traitors. Good that south Indians are united on this. Govt of India should start crash courses on Marathi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada. Learning 500 sentences and 500 words in one year is not big deal. If we are migrating to other state then we must know the local language. I have seen Tamil, Bihari and UP people speaking arabic in Saudi. Learning Indian language is not big deal.

Why are you imposing the local language to a person who is not interested in learning that language? She knows Bengali, Hindi and English. I think that's more than enough for her. The Constitution of India guarantees that I can't be forced to learn the local language of any place. No one can force me to learn Kannada or any other regional language, it's against my rights but I have seen videos where Kannada speaking people force miserable workers to learn the local language. About making friends, I have sufficient Malayali, Kannadigas, Rajasthani, Gujrati, Bengali friends and none of them are as shallow minded as you are. I wonder if you have ever stepped out of your home state let alone making friends with other mother tongue people. Your pathetic mindset won't allow you to do so.

LT is right . I am from UP and people should respect local language that's beauty of India. We don't force others like British or Russian. Every language in India is a gem of India and ever Indian responsibility is not just to protect but to promote by learning it. If other state are learning Hindi means they are giving us respect. I am North Indian but was born and brought up in Odisha. I along with many of my batch mates moved to Bangalore in 2003 to seek job and finally settled there. If i have to pick one place in South India apart from Hyderabad where people speak decent Hindi is Bangalore. I never had any issue in terms of language in my day to day life. There will be instances where people would know basic Hindi but that will be just enough for you to get things done and we should be grateful to the people of Bangalore and Karnataka. Not sure where on earth these kids live in Bangalore!!!
I agree with you, i worked in Maharastra and Delhi. When i was in maharastra, no matter which state you come from everyone was speaking in Marathi even kerala and tamil people who were living there. Here in delhi also many of my colleague are from Tamil Nadu and Andra Pradesh they communicate here in Hindi. So why we are hestitate to learn there local langauge when we are living there.🤷♀

Actually problem is . . . Mostly 12th pass students migrate to Bangalore for higher studies. . . The above interview of undergraduate students . . .bearly 2 years in Karnataka. . . After 4-5 they will able speak in Kannada. . Same applies in Mumbai and Delhi. . . Which is raised or born in other states . . They can fluently speak the state language

Since 20 years I am staying in kerala,not a single person told me to learn malyalam and did not discriminate me on the basis of language, but as the time passed now I know malyalam.

This is so true! I have been living here for a few months. Learned very basic kannada. I have always been respectful towards other and had no issues at all. A mix of english, hindi and some kannada words always works.

I have stayed in Bangalore for over 5 years. Now able to speak broken Kannada and most people are very cooperative. There are exceptions and few people do get irritated sometimes, maybe their day was not good or had any domestic issue 😅 If you go to European countries, most of them do not even understand English. You need to know basic language even before you travel. Similarly when you visit southern states, they will certainly help you but you also put effort.

You cannot force someone to talk Hindi, but you can request for it. What happens if someone from Karnatak comes to Bihar or other Indian states and asks the local people to speak Kannada?Would that sounds good to you?This also applies to them if you ask them to speak Hindi.
Hindi is not the language of North india. Remember it. But they do communicate with hindi to outsiders just to communicate.

I am from Odisha , and I completely disagree with what that Odisha girl wanted to say....We have some Tamilians in our neighborhood, they speak Odia so fluently like their mother tongue....Even I also know many Punjabis, Gujrati people who are living in Odisha, believe me their Odia is more fluent than the locals...... Simple thing is you can't change a vast community like the Britishers did in past with us to learn English, you have to change yourself according to the region.....Karnataka is a big state, area wise also it is larger than many big developed countries . I have been in Bengaluru for the last 6 years. In my experience, I have met so many down-to-earth Kannadigas. Very polite ones. During the lockdown, my landowner called me and said if you are facing financial issues you don't have to pay me 3 months rent. I was moved by this gesture of his and my expenditure was minimal due to being with my family. I said I was fine, and from that moment, I had huge respect for him. If the problem can be resolved by learning basic Kannada words, then I don't think there's any harm in it, but even Kannadigas need to understand that forcing it on others will only make that person rebellious.
Im from Karnataka my regional language is Kannada and mother tongue is Tulu....and will come to North India and people call me madrasi (tamil nadu city's name) and they force me talk in hindi ...and i dont know it....

I have been living in south india for a decade now. Studied in coimbatore - learned Tamil. Have malyalli frends - learns Malayalam. Working in bangalore - understand kannada and speaks basics. You cannot force indigenous people from the state to talk in another language than thier mother tongue. I just felt arrogance in the voice of those student.

It is not mandatory to speak Hindi. Yes it would be good if people learn hindi. Same applies for North indians if they are working and living in south indian states.
I think Karnataka should introduce some levels of Kannada to be made mandatory to work in Karnataka. For example most employers in Germany expect you to clear A1, A2 German Language Levels.

I am North Indian but was born and brought up in Odisha. I along with many of my batch mates moved to Bangalore in 2003 to seek job and finally settled there. If i have to pick one place in South India apart from Hyderabad where people speak decent Hindi is Bangalore. I never had any issue in terms of language in my day to day life. There will be instances where people would know basic Hindi but that will be just enough for you to get things done and we should be grateful to the people of Bangalore and Karnataka. Not sure where on earth these kids live in Bangalore!!!
I agree with you, i worked in Maharastra and Delhi. When i was in maharastra, no matter which state you come from everyone was speaking in Marathi even kerala and tamil people who were living there. Here in delhi also many of my colleague are from Tamil Nadu and Andra Pradesh they communicate here in Hindi. So why we are hestitate to learn there local langauge when we are living there.🤷♀

Why do we use English in every field of India? *(Why do we need English)*
1) India is a *"multilingual"* country & we have a different language family's *(Indo-european, Dravidian, indo-iranian sino-tibetan, Tibeto-burman, Semitic, astro-asiatic Etc..)* & India has no _-national language-_ or any _-monolingual policy-_ the country of India is a *"union system'* and "all languages are respected equally"
2) Only English is recognized and used as the *"2nd administrative language"* in all states of India. (After their state's official language)
3) English is the only language used in all fields of India *(science, technology, research, education, medical, business, job field, information, space field, Navy, etc..)*
4) India is mostly dependent on *"foreign income"* & So we need English in the field of 'business' and 'workplace'
5) English is emerging as the future *"lingua franca"* of India and the World
6) English is *"indispensable"* and giving more value to "English" after our "State office language" is also good for our financial empowerment.
7) Yes there is a language problem in India! So English has grown and is growing as a language to solve that problem, This is the reality! It is better to accept reality. And at the same time all the languages of India should be respected equally

I'm a odia person and when came to bangalore i use to speak hindi with my kannada friends and they also try to speak in tutifutti hindi and I tryed to speak kannada instead of hindi bcz hindi is not my mothertounge, I learn kannada to comfortable my friend and also it's makes your daily life easy to live in karnataka.

@@piyushnayak2630 Unity comes when there is freedom. I lived in Odisha for 2 years no one ever forced me to learn Odia, I use to tell my friends to converse in Odia so that I can pick some words at least. If the environment is not toxic people will make an effort and learn the language out of love.

This is so true! I have been living here for a few months. Learned very basic kannada. I have always been respectful towards other and had no issues at all. A mix of english, hindi and some kannada words always works.

I have stayed in Bangalore for over 5 years. Now able to speak broken Kannada and most people are very cooperative. There are exceptions and few people do get irritated sometimes, maybe their day was not good or had any domestic issue 😅
If you go to European countries, most of them do not even understand English. You need to know basic language even before you travel. Similarly when you visit southern states, they will certainly help you but you also put effort.

Punjab, rajasthan, haryanvi, u.p, bihar ,mp lost their local language cuz of hindi movement in 1800's they didn't want parsi as official language , by time hindi became common language.. and local language got extinct
