TBH, I'm not a fan of RD Burman. He has stolen a lot of music from the west and just copied them as it is. SD Burman, on the other hand, was a legend. It's absolutely shameful that people keep on talking about RD Burman but never listened to his father. On top of SD Burman's genius as a music composer, his singing voice was also magnificent. The rawness and huskiness he had in his voice was so grounded and amazing.

So you think if RD would have been alive today he would have appealed to people that don't follow SD Burman. Do you know what relationship a father and son has and moral values they shared. If SD Burman was Microsoft then RD was Google, the extension of music. You people defame on the internet and viral internationally, is this not defaming our country ? If you talk about copy paste even constitution was a copy paste

@@vedantvyas6233 Brother RD Burman is also a legend... He was the best music director in his era... Composed 2000 musics and only 25 are copied/ influenced 22 of them he credited the main singer and composer... When you are the most trending director of your era it's impossible that you can meet the demand of so many calls with purely originals ... You can see the similarities with Anu Malik and Pritam... 1% of the total songs should be forgiven for them .... RD Burman was a great musician and he only invented and introduced the 'Pedal Matka' instrument in which many super hit songs are composed... Only a genius can do it... And he has always been credited to his father for everything he learnt and achieved...

But one thing is for sure.. your channel is expanding its reach.
From mass young audiences to genuine music experts.
There's a RUclips recording of an old Kishore Kumar radio-interview, where he talks beautifully about his father-son relationship with SD Burman. He talks of how he recorded "Badi sooni sooni hai" when SD Burman lay on his deathbed in the hospital.

Due to ill health, the musical arrangements, recordings and even part compositions for Aradhana were done by RD as also was the BGM. Listen to his vocals in the BGM. And, by 1969, when Aradhana was being made, Teesri Manzil, Baharon Ke Sapne had already made RD well known in his own right. He continued assisting his father right up to 1971-72 until pressure of work came in the way. In fact, he recorded and completed Mili after SD went into coma following his stroke. Finally, the first intro mentioned here for Mere Sapnon ki Rani is actually a time over flashback music where Sharmila reminisces about her past and the flashback commences with the first sighting of the lead pair. It is music almost becoming the narrator

Unfortunately, in hindi movie industry his his singing talent was never explored. He had Very unique voice and unmatchable style of singing with his unparalleled khanak and murkians. Some times even a singer like. Lata Mangeshkar perhaps unable to match the singing excellence shown by him in Bengali basic song sung by him. Here's one example , the original Bengali song "Banshi sune ar Kaj nai".. by SD Burman himself and it's Hindi version "Neend churaye chain churaye daka dalhe Teri Bansi".. if you hear this two songs, may be you can see my point. Thank you.

RD Burman already gave big hits before Aradhana happened like Teesri Manzil, Padosan, Baharon Ke Sapne to name a few. Anyways great explanation. A trivia on this movie:- SD Burman was ok with taking Rafi Sahab as Rajesh Khanna's voice but it was Pancham Da who wanted Kishore Da to be the voice. Despite that SD Burman took Rafi Sahab for two songs because he knew those songs were meant to be in Rafi Sahab's voice only. Also to mention before Aradhana, Kishore Da did playback only for himself and Dev Anand. It was Aradhana in which he gave his voice for another actor apart from himself or Dev Sahab ❤

However he was good at what he sang and music directors beside SD Burman also excelled good songs from him like OP Nayyar in Baap re Baap , Ragini ,,,, Ravi in Dilli ka thug , SJ in Shararat and New Delhi , Madan Mohan in Manmauji.
I was correcting you for the fact that he did playback for others also besides Dev and himself.
After Aradhana music composers were also reluctant but he was new market force and producers and Rajesh Khanna wanted only him . Also he had backing of Burmans who had personal liking for him . Though there is no doubt on his singing ability he was a class apart singer .
Old music directors were fading who didn't like him new composers rushed for him due to market demand.

Some people are calling R.D. Burman a copy-paste artist, which is completely unfair. The man was a genius who brought unique innovation and soul to his music. Taking inspiration is one thing, but creating timeless melodies that still resonate with millions is an art not everyone can master.
Javed Akhtar once shared a story about how he handed over the lyrics of a song to R.D. Burman, and R.D. instantly came up with the iconic composition we know today as ‘Chehra Hai Ya Chand Khila Hai.’ Now, go ahead and call this a copy too-seriously, where does it end? Everyone wants to act ‘cool’ in the comment section. Listen, originality doesn’t exist in its purest form. Even you are a ‘copy’ of your parents.
Stop trying to act cool in the comments section and take a moment to understand the psychology behind artists. Creativity often involves inspiration and evolution, not just pure originality. Respect the craft instead of dismissing it with shallow judgments.

Old Music and old Bollywood songs are treasure. It has no value. It's just meant to listen again and again and it's timeless. It will never die and shall leave forever. Hats off to all the enormous yesteryears creative artist song composers, music directors and great singers like Rafi Sahab, Mukesh Ji, Mana De, Mahinder Kapoor, Shalinder Singh, Kishore Da and the one and only Lata Didi. I have tears while forming this message. They are all pearls. Let's treasure it for generation and generations to come. God bless. Ishmael Fernandes, Mumbai.

    2) Yaar you are so technically-cool for us non-technical people !!
    3) please do more on Pancham songs
    4) minor-major ( pun intended ) correction: see the film’s credit titles - Pancham is an ASSOCIATE and not assistant

Really liked the video and studious approach towards it👏
Could you listen to a Marathi Song 'Saavar Re', composed by Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkarji, and sung by Latadidi? Three different time signatures are used in the song. Two of which are in 'Dhruvapad' itself.
'Saavar re Saavar re' is in 5/4, which we call 'Zaptaal'. The later part of the dhruvapad is in 4/4, I don't know the taal used here. And the antaras of the song are in 3/4 which we may say is 'Dadra'.
Also, there are many things about composition, and singing that I think you might like. I hope you'll give it a try.

During final years of maestro SD Burman its was Pancham Da who was composing majority of his music.. I kw it shows SD Burman as music director but music insider mentioned its was all RD Burman who was doing the work and even in this song Sapno ki Rani you will hear signature style of Pancham Da however both father and son were genius.

No my dear it was exactly opposite in the last years of SD Burman Sahab R D Burman was so busy doing his films that S D Burman sahabs team got replaced with Shiv Hari and Arun Paudwal ji if you remember Abhiman’s music then Sharmilee, Chupke chupke , Anurag and many more … it was magical divine music by S D Burman sahab RD was not at all involved in those last 5 years except Mili and Barood..
