Guys thanks for this episode,,,,,, I really do enjoy Free Range Sailing channel as it's not just a sailing channel but a weather, cooking, fishing.wildlife AND underwear channel too!! All the best Richard
The rigging song is beautiful music to our ears. We don't think it'd be out of place in your voice overs. And while I'm commenting I simply have to add my voice to the hundreds of cookbook beggars. Love you two. Oh... are you now going to be making jocks with the new FRS designs???? 😂
What a great episode! Somehow it makes up for more than the individual pieces combined: fast sail, cachting tuna, deserted island and beautiful cinematography with sunsets and even ligthing stoms. All those are gems of its own ... but how all these amalgamate into each into each other makes for the almost perfect escapistic free range sailing episode that for us watchers has the powers to cause a yearning that is greater than life.
One of the best sailing channels on the planet. You’ve become pros over the years. It’s a pleasure watching especially since I recently went back to land life. Thanks for everything.

THOSE Hoodies are SO Comfortable and that Design is AWESOME!!!!....YUUUUMY on that Yellow fin!!! AWESOME catch.. AND that Biblical Sky WOW THAT Humming is all the Angels watching Over you🥰 THANKS for the Awesome Share
Again you have impressed me. Gorgeous seas, fantastic sunset, amazing lighting, tuna, and singing rigging! What more can a channel provide in one video?
Another great vid. My parents lived in Geraldton back in the 90s. We did many trips visiting them, this brought back many great memories of diving & fishing the area. Thanks again. The hum really isn't noticeable especially when you overlay music...keep it 'humming'!!
Great video! Lovely sunset and storm action! The hum sounds like the ethereal background music that some people pay money for! Merool provides it for free!👍🏼👍🏼
I love it when you’re underway and and battling the elements, I usually fall asleep watching boat maintenance or refit. I asked for your forgiveness but I love watching pascal?
Hullo guys. yet again another great episode. Aaaaah and catching fish, in this case, yellow fin tuna, off the boat. Returning again to the good old days of "Free Range." Thank you again for sharing. Take care. Atb from across here in EnZed.
I remember many years ago when fishermen of Samoan descent in Hawaii would leave the tuna for themselves uncleaned in the sun on deck for the day. They liked the stronger flavor and the softness of the meat.
Check your video editing software. It could have sound editing features which may include noise cancellation. There is also dedicated sound engineering software that can process the video audio and replace it once you have finished massaging it to your needs.
The fishing has improved under management. Some reefs were damaged since I saw them 10 years ago and some had improved in 5 years. We are pretty positive about how Australia is managing it's marine resource and how little rubbish is on Western Australian coastline.
Indeed I enjoyed your video and gave y'all a thumbs up from Georgia USA. Always fun to watch you two doing what you love. Nice Tuna! How dare you denying the sharks a tasty morsel... but neat trick to snatch it out of their jaws like that.
Great episode you two! Just bought my third T-shirt!. I love the sound of the wind in the rigging! So much better then the slapping of halyards against the mast that you might hear on other boats.
Nice to see you guys back to the seas. Sailing, fishing, cooking and the like you make me more and more confident to stretch and set free my sailing legs. Cheers!
I would love to have gotten another shirt from you guys (making the total up to 3 shirts) but unfortunately its just not in the cards . Maybe next time . Love the videos, cheers
Best breeky out, ,had some snapper strait out the water ,sashimi, wow what a rush , the energy was amazing, gotta be done immediately though, or you have to wait 6 odd hours fot flesh to set ,
A nice spirited sail out of the port, and a lovely yellowfin, made good use of👌🙂 The electrical storms are concerning, but you have that sorted.Best wishes 🙂
We got hit by lighting a few weeks ago with a direct strike to our masthead. It blew up our antenna and our anemometer sensor where it entered our NMEA-2K network. It basically blew up everything connected to the network and all the navigation lights on the mast and on the bow pulpit. It also totally took out our less than 1 year old Furuno autopilot and related hardware. We lost a bunch of other stuff like the shorepower charger. The Blue Sea Systems automatic charger control relay and our MPPT solar controller. We even lost the water level sender in our keel water tank and the bilge pump switch. All of our cell phones, tablets, and laptops/MacBook just sitting out in the V-berth (but not plugged in to anything) were perfectly fine. Nothing was in a faraday cage or anything special. We did a short haul to check our rigging and hull and everything was fine. We even had a rigger survey the damage as well as a general surveyor from our insurance company. So our experience shows that as long as something wasn't plugged in or part of the wired electrical system it survived the strike. Things that where plugged in, as well as wired-in like the alternator (fried) and the starter relay (toasted) didn't fare so well. Everything electrical on the mast simply exploded or vaporized. The antenna was gone except for the metal cup at the end of the VHF connector. The anchor, steaming, and spreader lights exploded into fragments. The LED nav lights on the bow pulpit were dead (all stainless steel rigging.) Every incident is probably different. Perhaps putting the mobiles in a metal pot is good practice. Unplugging everything at a minimum is a good idea too.
I'd agree that every incident is different. I've heard of unconnected gear being fried due to induced side currents. Also, sometimes failure isn't immediate. It can happen that your unplugged gear might be just wounded, and it may in a few days/weeks/months begin acting erratically, or just have had its lifespan reduced so that one day it just dies on you. Electronics can be weird like that.
We really hope you enjoyed this week's episode. Those were some pretty impressive Autumn skies. This is your very last chance to grab a t-shirt or hoodie! The campaign ends tomorrow. To grab yours now the link is here: www.bonfire.com/new-frs-elements-design/ Thanks in advance for your support! Troy and Pascale
Wonderful shots of what appeared to be some pretty fast sailing. The sunset picture with the low hanging scattered clouds was simply as good as it gets. You both seem very confident in your abilities and that is a very good thing. No room for panicky nerves when out at sea by yourselves. It gives me great ease of mind knowing you are in good hands in WA waters.
Really enjoyed this issue. Actually, I watched it on smart tv but cannot comment, so I came over to the computer to give a thumbs up and howdy from travel in Indiana of the USA. Love Yellow Fin - that smooth mellow flavor - I could almost taste it with a touch of Wasabi and Maggi Jugo Seasoning Sauce: The soy sauce is a bit much for me. Cheers.
I was always curious if Dynema was silent and you answered that question for me. The one sound that disturbs me alot is the clinging sounds of metal on metal. The hum I'm pretty sure I could deal with that. Thank you again for your informative videos.
The resonant sound is a fun and interesting phenomena. I recall that occurrence in an oil refinery operation, between two massive furnace/heaters...yet only when the prevailing winds were just right. In an automotive application it happens in the air intake tract, due to high velocities...thus most/all have a "Helmholtz resonator". Essentially a reservoir for that frequency...or rather interrupting the air that produces it. Fun issue to have, unless sleeping.
Keep the humming in. I fall asleep to paskies voice overs. Stainless steel polishing in your jocks... um , oh well Whatever floats your boat 😂😂😂 I'm in Perth.... Go dubba-ya -ay......
Pascale I have no way of knowing whether you have had a similar experience so will share in case you have not. On remote stations where fence lines can be tens of kilometers long I have heard some amazing sound effects produced by long runs of wire. That is because you can be in a region of calm air at one location while wind can be blowing further down the fence and it induces a very pleasant hum through the wire a bit like a cello or something.
The way you're using the drone is cool. I like those very long slow shots. The time lapse was really nice too. At first I thought "Who's in the other boat?"
For your rigging hum ... bond a microphone to the point in the hull where it is the loudest, record that sound at the same time as you record your voice-overs and then use audacity (or similar) to subtract that signal from your recording to remove most of the background noise.
Yes indeed as it’s a fixed frequency it should be fairly simple just to remove it in post using the trick above or even just using a notch filter at that frequency.
I enjoyed your overhaul of Mirool, but also love watching your travel videos. You always produce such excellent videos, love your channel. And boy oh boy, what a lightning storm, great footage Pascal. Greetings both, from the South Wales in northern hemisphere 👍. John.
Another great installment. My favourite cruising fix, more so since NZ just went into lockdown again and we aren't supposed to go out on the water or leave home. Our spinnaker pole used to sing to us when the wind picked up. Quite mournful sometimes.
Have you considered changing the cockpit door/washboards with a one or two part in acrylic/lexan material? Give much more light downstairs and allows visibility from inside out and visa versa. Worked wonders on my boat.
After everything's been done, try listening to your work through speakers instead of the headphones. I have my laptop connected to my TV via HDMI cable and watch things on the big screen. Cheers.
Guys thanks for this episode,,,,,, I really do enjoy Free Range Sailing channel as it's not just a sailing channel but a weather, cooking, fishing.wildlife AND underwear channel too!!

The sound of the wind through the rigging is absolutely enchanting.
I love falling asleep to it. It's like our boat is singing to us.
@@FreeRangeLiving Im confident you two can get 'Stairway to Heaven' from the rigging if you decide you want it 👍🎼
Have you noticed how loud noise is from in mast furlers especially if they're at a dock ,ie not head to wind
Isn't it just. Like a variable tuning fork.
The rigging song is beautiful music to our ears. We don't think it'd be out of place in your voice overs. And while I'm commenting I simply have to add my voice to the hundreds of cookbook beggars. Love you two. Oh... are you now going to be making jocks with the new FRS designs???? 😂
Nothing better than a nap in those conditions.
Q: Do you know why the rigging is humming? A: Because it doesn't know the words ! babahahaha
😂😂😂😂😂
and the hum is your boat saying THANKYOU ! for the re-fit !

You really have to love strong winds if you want to go to the Abrolhos. Worth it just for the scenery (and the cray fish).
One of the best sailing channels on the planet. You’ve become pros over the years. It’s a pleasure watching especially since I recently went back to land life. Thanks for everything.
I enjoy your videos. I find them to be quite relaxing & theraputic.
The sound of the rigging is soothing

Would the logo go on the front or the back😎
My wife says its up to her and Pascal to determine. Hahaha. Yknow it'd probably sell zillionz as a fun gift for guys from their gals.
Great video, I learn something every time. Thank you. Stay safe! Cheers beer and years!
All that rock and roll and a light show to set the night mood. all this and musical rigging. Who could ask for anything more.

In the past they have been there every 3 years 😉
That rigging sound is magic!!!
Great video! Lovely sunset and storm action!

That sunset 😍☀️ epic. Thanks for sharing!
"Put the camera down before I demolish this."
Awesome.
Woohoo ! The Holy Trinity : Sailing, Fishing and Troy in his jocks ! 😂😂
Another highly entertaining video - you guys are my favourite 🤩
Nearly agree but i would change Troy out for Pascale😉, such a wonderful women. What sailor wouldn't Pascale as there second mate?
That lightning storm footage was epic. No ideas for the humming.
Got my shirt just in time! Fair winds guys.
Great episode. t-shirt ordered last week :D. And I'm doing my chores in my jocks right now.
Best way to do chores!😆
I love it when you’re underway and and battling the elements, I usually fall asleep watching boat maintenance or refit. I asked for your forgiveness but I love watching pascal?
Best. Timelapse. EVER!!!!! Love the sunset and lightning. Thanks for sharing.

Can you make a compilation video of all your fishing successes? Would be a cool bonus to see them all in one video. Another awesome episode.
A fan made a compilation of favourite takes if you want something in the meantime:

Lightning starts art 17.10 and is over quite quickly. Wish all storms did that.
That was a hum-dinger guys. 👍👍👍
Great video as always, thanks for sharing. Cheers.
Good to be sailing the sea 🌊 once again via your vids. Papa J

have either of you noticed a change in the oceans on your side of the planet since you've been out and about all these years that gets your attention?
The fishing has improved under management. Some reefs were damaged since I saw them 10 years ago and some had improved in 5 years. We are pretty positive about how Australia is managing it's marine resource and how little rubbish is on Western Australian coastline.

Nice to see you guys back to the seas. Sailing, fishing, cooking and the like you make me more and more confident to stretch and set free my sailing legs. Cheers!
That lightning at 0:45 - crazy. I had no idea lightning could be so SLOW - if you play the video at 25%, you can see it move frame by frame.
I would love to have gotten another shirt from you guys (making the total up to 3 shirts) but unfortunately its just not in the cards . Maybe next time . Love the videos, cheers

Same JAFO. That was why my views are more cautious now as I have seen how little I can predict when it comes to such forces.
Your boat has never looked better. Great work.
What a spectacular light show. Amazing

SIFI Free range Sailing, I would be reaching for the ear plugs , don't want to be dashed upon the rocks by the sirens call.
Mirrool isn't humming, she's calling whales. ^_^
I love the hum.
Nature's beautiful fury. Stay safe.
You guys are amazing. Much love

Thanks so much Ron!
Brilliant, thank you.
Nice to see the township of Geraldton again! I haven't been there since I lived there for about 6 months back in the late '80s.

Audacity does it and its free software.

Hey guys! I’m telling you, the production & quality of these videos is just fantastic! Keep’em coming!
Love your videos some great editing. The time-lapse from the drone was impressive, must have just about used up all it battery on that one.
Indeed it was a close call landing it with so little left in the battery

Luckily I live on yacht ,unluckily in wellingtons evans Bay, and boy have we had some storms lately,

Thanks y'all for another great video! I loved the singing rigging!
Brilliant! Another great episode
Your boat is looking lovely after the refit.
I'm surprised that music from the rigging doesn't attract all the sea life to you, it must being transmitted into the water !
Very intriguing !
Maybe it did in the dark.
Beautiful Video! Cheers.
I wonder if you could put something like string silencers used for archery on your upper stays to dampen the resonance...
