- I’m a huge fan of waterproof mascara for my short, straight Asian lashes so y’all know I had to see which one is really the best! In today’s video we’re wear-testing 5 best selling waterproof mascaras and scoring them by application, volume, length, curl, wear, and price to see which is ACTUALLY the best one. Waterproof mascara is the only way my stick straight lashes stay curled throughout the day! Currently I've been obsessed with the L'Oreal, Air Volume Mega Mascara. As long as you wipe the excess before putting on the mascara, it stays on all day, with no smudging.
I pretty much gave up on waterproof eyeliners as they never survive against my oily lids, but waterproof mascara CONQUERS THROUGH!!! Also, L'Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise is my holy grail and hoping that it never discontinues 😅

My favorite is Etude House Curl Fix Mascara. Wear test for red lipstick or sunscreen would be awesome! :)
MUFE Aqua Smoky Lash Mascara
The last one looked the best at the end of the day. Also the Lash Blast and the Sky High looked decent at the end of the day. I ONLY use waterproof as i have watery eyes and allergies so they always itch. I'm gonna try that last one. It definitely looked the best at the end of the day, which is my marker because it so often looks 'used' by the end of the day and that one didn't on you. Cool!
Thank you for taking the time to do this video. Waterproof mascara is the only mascara that holds my curl. I haven't found many reviews that focus on Waterproof specifically.

Heroine Make Volume is definitely my top choice also! I’d love to see a showdown for waterproof eyeliners from you (both gel/liquid and regular) - Asian eyelids always makes the perfect product harder to find!

I have the same concerns as you when it comes to mascara application and my favorites are the L’Oreal Telescopic waterproof and Clinique Lash Power. I love that the Lash Power is a fiber mascara so no need for oil based cleanser removal. Just warm water and it all comes off at the end of the day, also doesn’t smudge. Feel free to give those a try too 😊
I typically only use waterproof mascara in the summer when I go to the beach or pool. My current fave is Tarte Lights, Cameras, Splashes, but I also love the L'Oreal Voluminous!💜
I’m a little late but for the plastic wands that are meant for length, you have to twist the wand instead of moving it side to side. It doesn’t clump up when you twist it.
Since high school I’ve been curling my lashes and using waterproof mascara to keep my curl. A lot of them are great at keeping a hold and wearing through the day but I always get transfers on my bottom lash line. This was helpful!!
I don’t like to wear lashes unless for special occasions.
I highly recommend CANMAKE TOKYO Quick Lash Curler! It’s really popular in Japan😄
My fave is Holika Holika’s Lash Correcting mascara in #01 Hyper Curling. Lashes don’t go crunchy, takes several coats really well, lengthens, holds curls well and doesn’t clump! They’ve just come out with an extension version too which has fibres in :)

Love this video. I have difficult-to-apply-Asian-eyes too and tried so many waterproof mascaras, the Japanese one has been my fav. the whole time over 5 years. And working as a flight attendant I have to wear it thru over 20 hrs sometimes and that one really works the best no matter Dry dry weather or humid weather where I am. 2nd fav. is Maybeline but i dont see the one i used on market anymore :( Anyways, after many many years i havent visited your channel Im impressed on your videos consistency and honesty
It's amazing the quality of products you can find at Japanese drugstores. From mascara to facial SPF and everything in between!
My absolute fave mascara is the waterproof maybelline lash stiletto! I always come back to it!

i used the sky high (non waterproof) and they made my lashes fall straight down immediately after application, which was SO disappointing because the length it gave my lashes was unreal :(( i started using it with the pmel mascara base, which helps my lashes keep its curl all day, but without the mascara base i only use the sky high mascara for bottom lashes! my holy grail is def the etude house curl fix though- for people with thin, stubborn lashes, asian mascaras are definitely the best :)
Is the Etude house one waterproof ?
I love the Sky High because it holds really well, but I also noticed that I'm losing lashes when using it (a lot more than when using other mascaras).

I tried the Heroine Makeup Volume super waterproof mascara and finally it has ticked all boxes for me as I have oily skin. It was easy to remove with the Maybeline eye makeup removal. I only found it on Amazon-Australia as I haven't seen it in any store and price online was AU$22 not too bad price. Am very happy with how it works and at least it doesn't smudge (and I also have one eye that leaks) easily as the other expensive brands. Compare with other mascaras I used to look like a racoon and am glad I watched your video so I can make a decision of what to try. Thanks for your advice!!

I love that you made a waterproof video! My lashes are just like yours, they do not hold a curl with most if not all mascaras that’s not waterproof.

Clinique Take the Day off is good but expensive. I love the Nivea express waterproof eye makeup remover.
I've been waiting for somebody to review more waterproof mascaras. Their quality is really put to test with all the MASK wearing. I wish somebody tested mascaras by wearing a mask all day...:P I find that even the best ones smudge and flake.
Jen, you should do a review of the Grande Lash Serum! Would love to see your results. I’ve been using it for 2 months and had great results.
Heroine Make had been my HG for years. Wears like armor and does not smudge. Its made it through partying in Vegas and childbirth (twice!) You cant go wrong with it imo

Nice review. I use Lancome Monsieur Big, regular formula which seems water resistant. It often goes on sale in dept stores. Just purchased 2 for $24. Also can get at ulta few times a year for $12.50. It is my favorite mascara, almost never pay full price. Sales are mostly on Holidays about 3 to 4 times a year. At that price point well worth it.

You HAVE to try the Maybelline colossal cat eye waterproof mascara. Been using it for like 6+ years and its the best for asian lashes
Gotta try the Heroine one. And I’m glad I’m not the only one who gets mascara all over the lids, whew! I’m normal lol! That’s what got me into getting the mascara guard
I just received my first tube of Heroine last week and I was honestly blown away, the only mascara I’ve ever tried that didn’t smudge under my eyes after years and years and dozens of recommendations and trials of countless mascaras

FYI - the "advanced film" version of the heroine make mascara is a little easier to remove but is still waterproof!

My holy grail is Maybelline's Colossal Big Shot waterproof. I'm actually using Monsieur Big and Covergirl Lashblast right now too. ☺️😅
My right eye is more watery than my left for some reason. A tear or two will often come out when I lay on my right side, whether my eye is open or closed. Don’t have the problem on my left. My mascara and eyeliner smudge more on my right eye because of this. You’re definitely not alone with this problem haha.
L’Oréal voluminous lash paradise ended up on my lower lids. Lancôme monsieur held the curl and smudged very minimally.
Try Lilybyred’s mascara, I love it as much as I love the heroine make one!!
Lancôme Monsieur Big is my HG mascara I feel like I’m wearing natural falsies bc of how perfect looking my lashes look 😅. I should definitely check out the others you’ve mentioned!

I have both the Heroine Make mascaras but I prefer the Long & Curl one instead of the Volume & Curl (is a bit more clumpy imo) :p
I always use herione long and curl. Now I will try the volume and curl.
My go to is not what she mentioned, but I have been using Maybelline Total Temptation blue bottle waterproof for a few years. They go on very thick and does not coat every single lashes. BUT it does not cause my lashes to be droopy or make me look like I have panda eyes later in the day.
I don’t typically use waterproof because I have a hard time removing it without scrubbing too hard on my eyes. 😶 My holy grail mascara is Honest Beauty Extreme Length Mascara with Primer and it is the BEST, keeps my curl and doesn’t irritate my eyes! ❤️
you should definitely try pond’s cold cream to remove your waterproof mascara. it always works for me!
You can try micellar water, a biphasic cleanser or just a straight up lightweight oil like almond, grapeseed, rosehip or hempseed oil (dont recommend heavy oils like castorn olive or coconut, as they ca clog pores if used directly on skin). You can use a cleansing oil or balm too but I haven't tried those as they're so expensive. Usung oil is the best trick, it melts off anything and it's cheap. And then follow it with a water based cleanser and you're set :)
I was obsessed with cannonball when you recommended it but they stopped selling it!

Yay - I was just researching the best mascara for Asian lashes... Don't you think sample mascara has a better wand than the full size?
I’m sure there’s great mascaras out there, and it’s nice to know there’s other options. But I’ve been using the kiss me heroine mascaras for over 10 years (tried a few other brands along the way), these are just my tried and true. Also just don’t feel like spending any extra money anymore to try née ones.😆 but this video was super helpful!! Thanks for comparing all those!

Heroine is great but hard to get in Europe. I’m using Shu Uemura Stretch Xtreme Precise Finish Waterproof Mascara. It’s pricey but out the 100 mascaras I have (literally all in one box) it’s the best result I’ve ever had.
CLIO Kill Lash Superproof Mascara, either the Red tube(long&curl) or Black tube(volume&curl) will make you WOW!
TRY!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the wand is super lower lashes friendly.
I've tried ALL of the mascaras listed here and in my opinion the best (smudge- proof against oily lids, waterproof and holds a curl on Asian lashes) are Korean mascaras... The top of which is Tonymoly Shocking Mascara (I like the copper one best)

Lash paradise is amazinggg.... i put it on, went out, accidentally fell asleep with it on, took a shower, went out again, and it stayedddd onnnnnn.... i used a micellar water to remove and came off easy
The Mabeline has Aloe in it I would never try it. I thing your wild card looked the best on you!

You are a cutie. I've been looking around for a mascara that I can wear for my (eventual) upcoming wedding. So far, Heroine has come up at least twice. Naturally, because it might be the toughest one to get ahold of. This whole event is becoming a problem child. :0) Thank you for your thorough tryouts.
Thank you for this video! Right at the perfect time. Well, almost. I recently bought the Sky High and although I liked the length and amount of volume it gives, also love how natural at the same time they look, I made the mistake of buying the washable one, not the waterproof formula. And it uncurled my lashes immediately on application :( I have very straight stubborn lashes like my hair, and it's nearly impossible to make them hold a curl. So to see how these mascaras actually perform in that manner is amazing. Almost no reviewer comments about the uncurling thing that happens with most mascaras.
Do you prefer the super waterproof version or the regular/advanced film version for the kiss me mascara?
I live in Europe and it’s hard to find my most favourite mascara which is Heroine Make. Guys for Asian eyes, especially Monolid, I agree 💯 % with her that Heroine make is worth the hype. But for those who live in Europe, it would be nightmare. Once you try and you love it, you will realizing that it’s not able to find it anywhere in Europe except buying online. Need to go back to Mybelline which does give the similar effect, but nothing can compete Heroine Make for me.
Even at the start of the video I had a feeling that the Japanese brand one was going to win haha. I kinda wished you included 1 more high end mascara to make it more even playing field though.

Great video! I’m a waterproof mascara wearer like you and my holy grail is the Lancôme one. I find the price is worth it as I really get full 3 months wear, sometimes I can stretch it too compared to the drugstore ones. The L’Oréal paradise dries so fast, like in a month so it’s not a good buy for me. Additionally, I suffer from dry eyes and for some reason, it doesn’t act up when I use the Lancôme compared to the drugstore ones that’s why it’s an overall favorite. I did recently try the sky high and like you, was quite impressed give the length and how it can coat each lash well. I enjoyed it and also like it as a “base” mascara for layering. I liked the Heroine Make long and curl better than the volume one. I’m curious what you think of the long and curl version. And yes, heroine make has a product to help dissolve the mascara that I do enjoy too which you apply like a mascara which is brilliant.

I've tried 4 out of 5 you showed today and I would say I like the heroine make most, I can say those hold a curl that don't quit! My current favourite is lash princess waterproof from essence and it's honestly my favourite in terms of accessibility, price, performance.
Ooh I also use the essence one! In comparison with the heroine make one, which one of them do you think is the best?
@@kaylalovestosleep I like the essence one more because it applies on my lashes softer with more volume, holds a curl, and easier to remove with cleansing oil or biphase. I also find it hold up decent in my workouts, usually no smudging unless I shut my eyes super tight when I working through tough reps. Which then, I get a little smudge but nothing close to racoon mask hah heroine make perform well too, but I find the crispy dry down to be super difficult to remove (even if I wash with oil cleanser, cleansers, biphase, and even micellar water afterwards, I'll still have remnants on my eyes 👀) and having to order overseas can be a hassle.
Where did you get a mascara guard ? I have never heard of it. I would love to have one. I HATE putting any eye makeup on !!

You need try clio mascara. Korean mascara have thin wand.
For me the problem is that mascara smudge on me because I have very dry skin and so all my lotion/cream give me the worst result. I love the tubing mascara a lot
The Lancome Monsieur Big is $30 and was wondering what you would recommend that might be comparable for a little less?

There's actually a heroine mascara mascara remover that dissolves their mascara as soon as you apply it! I highly recommend purchasing it!

Lately I've been using the ONE/SIZE Point Made and Rare Beauty liquid eyeliners but I tend to rotate through a lot of different eyeliners! Maybe I need to do a Showdown for eyeliners next :)

She’s tried tubing mascara before in an older video but those are water resistant and contain a lot of water in the formula so they naturally kill the curls!
Definitely have one leakier eye 😂 my bottom lashes will smudge no matter what. But that’s because I touch my face too much. I wish they’d make makeup for people who can’t quit touching their face. By the time I go to bed there’s barely mascara left to remove.
