I don’t care what anyone says, Funimation openings for One Piece are all fucking awesome. They’re legitimately some of the best dubbed openings I’ve ever seen, so damn good. This one is easily my favorite.
I usually hate dubbed openings but these are really good! Even though I recognized Vic's voice, I almost didn't believe he could sing that well!

Dragon Ball Z did this too in its series years prior when it came to the Super Saiyan transformation. It also revealed Future Trunks as well a couple Sagas before his debut in the Trunks Saga when he fought Frieza and King Cold. Its nothing new to be honest.

Actually a lot of one piece opening videos are shut down by copyright issues, and I remember this opening with 5 million+ views (the japanese version), and Share the World with almost 20 million (One Day too I think)

The very first opening Funimation dubbed.
Their dub of "One Piece" premiered on Toonami in Fall of 2007 and aired until Spring 2008 when it just disappeared. Before it aired though there were private screenings and fans loved it.
To this day "One Piece" remains one of their best English dubs, that is because they work closely with Toei Animation and Eichiro Oda and Toei gets final say on the scripts, while Oda gets final say on the cast.
FUNimation took inspiration from the germans (and some japanese) and I'm glad they did. Their adaption is another level.

1:12 "Swaying in the troubled waves. From all despairs, I can be saved." The lyrics just made me feel so emotional, I didn't even grow up with the dub. But something about those two sentences created a ripple in my heart.
I can feel the despair and the light waiting beyond it. It reminds me how Luffy saved many people from despairs. He's the light to many people who were deep in despair, and he didn't even know it.
idk why, but when it shows the crew running at the beginning of the opening, it kinda reminds me of scooby doo a bit.

When Funimation first began airing their version of the dub on Toonami, it was the first episode of the Skypeia arc. I'll never forget the moment I heard this song and knew the long dark night of the 4Kids Dub era had finally come to a close.

I remember the day this new dub premiered on Toonami...it felt so damn magical. It was when this was the OP that I truly realized what we missed out with 4kids approach. If it wasn’t Vic singing this, the impact wouldn’t have been as strong, the dude (innocent or guilty) is an amazing singer through and through.
