I’m glad to see you’re healing. That is still a beautiful hike - I remember it well, thank you for sharing 👣. Why do you think some people feel compelled to deface the natural environment by building cairns? Sad...
Thank you 🙏 yes feeling better every day. For cairns, I think some people are just trying to be helpful by marking the trail, others are being creative I guess. But yea, wish folks would just leave things "as is" in a fragile environment like this.
Yea, I read that in a trip report somewhere too. The road that you're on is very busy, so if you park somewhere visible, I think you will be fine. For pretty much every hiking spot in SoCal there are car break-ins, it's just part of the deal. I leave my glove open and don't leave anything tempting anywhere and have been lucky over the years. But for this one, I wouldn't let that break in report stop you.
@@Hikingguy maybe the lots are where the break ins take place? as you can tell I'm paranoid, so you think parking off the road is better for safety than in the lots?
@@CobaltHaze I really wouldn't sweat it. The lot / side of the road is basically all the same, it's just a dirt patch. If you park closer to the road you're car will be more visible and I think anyone thinking about it would be put off by the traffic. But again, I wouldn't sweat it. I think the thefts are rather random by desperate folks.
Would you do a video on getting to Mt. San Antonio from Wrightwood and over Pine Mountain? It gets really sketchy once you start getting up Pine Mountain... if anything not a video for the winter though.
Yea it was on my list for this summer but I didn't get around to it, so will get a guide up this year for sure. I did the route a few times from 2014-2018 and it was tough, but no super sketchy parts that I remember. The trail was pretty faint so maybe it's just been weathered away in places. I'll dig up my old GPX and spend some time there this year.
@@Hikingguy That would be awesome! This is the sketchy part I'm referring to, where I end up turning around: ruclips.net/video/pZC__b9ZhXo/видео.html Maybe it's because you are far more experienced, but I see a lot of people talking about turning around there. That section is a bit slippery and sloped towards the edge, while being very exposed.
@@DISASTERJOE Nice, thanks for sharing that. I don't remember a section that steep slick / steep but it's been a while and things change. Do you have a GPX / Strava / Garmin Page that you can share? I can overlay it with my old tracks and compare. Just email me at info@ hikingguy com if you do.
Beautiful
Why didn't you visit Horseshoe Palms? Also great video!
Great video
Very cool trail! Do you ever see any other animals beside a Coyote? Snakes or anything like that?
Yea once an a while I'll see a rattler around here, lots of lizards as you'd expect.

@@Hikingguy I think you are too polite and charitable!
I'd like to go hiking there but I read somewhere that a lot of cars get broken into, seems too risky. Did you notice anything like that?
