Here’s our newest tutorial to make adorable thread catchers for yourself or friends! The NEW kit is available in store or ON Facebook to buy with all the needed materials!
This video here, was literally, THE BESTEST tutorial ever. I watched each step-by-step, and my thread catcher came out perfectly! Thank you, Fiona, for such a great video! LOVE it!
@@melindapena4475 Thank you so much for your kind comments, we always try to explain thoroughly and it’s always helpful to know we’re helping with sewing, why not try some of our other tutorials too!
@@fionasfabrics3388 thank you! I'm also looking for a cutting mat tote where I can carry my 24" x 18" cutting mat. Something simple. I don't need all the bells and whistles. I'm not there yet. LOL THANKS again!
@@melindapena4475 Search Calico bag tutorial, just make sure to leave extra for the seams, maybe straps longer too so you can get over your shoulder easier.
Ah! Now you tell me. I've thrown away every bit of that strapping on boxes, knowing full well it would come in handy for something, but I had to draw the line somewhere, right? The cat enjoyed playing with them until tatty but.... I'll be keeping the next bit of strapping for sure. This is a great idea and thank you for such clear instructions.
Take a look in nearby dumpsters or at the post office. This stuff can easily be found if you think "resourceful". It always bothers me to throw it away but gets cumbersome to have all these goodies around from packing materials.
Some of the best, most thorough instruction I've seen on RUclips for a sewing project. I've had to watch 10 videos before I stumbled on to yours and would only have needed this one. Plus.. your beautiful accent is an added bonus 😍. Thank you so much! I'll be subscribing 😊
love this and a commenters idea to glue baste a hem before you start. I would add to iron the creases out of the fabrics beforehand so when you look at the finished product it is more beautiful and smooth.
Very easy to follow, an some good advice added here in the comment section. I have a note too, I have found that the friction pen does show up again when the item has been out of the house and when it is cold i.e frosty weather. That is a common thing where I live, which is in Norway, when it is winter time. 😊
I have noticed this more recently, I am now careful as have had the same thing happen. I don’t know if they have changed the mix of chemicals but it seems to happen more with some colours. We can always go back to using Tailors chalk, sometimes the old ways are the best 😉
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. It is the best and most thorough tutorial I’ve watched. I have the Clover hot ruler and I’m wondering if you use a little starch and fold down the quarter inch raw edge before sewing up the sides, it would be a little less fiddly🤷♀
Yes it’s heavy enough and by using the ground shells it keeps your pins sharpened. You can buy the shells with different aromatics too, we used Lavender infused ones, smells gorgeous!
Like the project, but the sound of the machine, your voice and music is difficult to listen to. A good tutorial doesn’t need background music. Otherwise, great tutorial!😊

Awesome!
I like your method using a glue stick. Great detailed instructions.
This is great - I’m gonna make one for my sewing room & one with plastic liner for my truck (as a trash collector) tyvm
I just found you. I love this thread catcher. Going to make some. Thank you. Great tutorial.

Really like the glue hack. Good instructions and video. Thanks.
Love it! I have been needing one. Thank you. So cute!
I made one and I used a a little stuffing in it and then filled it with BBs. It works real well even if I hit it with my elbow .
You are a brilliant instructor! Thanks so much!
If you turn under the top hem and glue baste while the fabric is flat, before making the bag and boxing the corners it will be less fiddly 😊
Thanks Sue. I can’t wait to try this myself. I think it will be really useful. Great instructions as always!
Wonderful tutorial, very easy to follow step by step. Thanks 😊

@@fionasfabrics3388 I used the heat resistant ruler before stitching the sides for the bags. It worked out great and helped getting the tops lined up.
Love it!
is the walnut shells heavy enough i use sand. just wondering

I really need a couple of thread catchers and tried to get through your entire video but the music made me nervous.
I’m sorry you felt that, they’re really useful items, I hope you’ll give it another go. Sue x
