  • 🏍 Honda CX500 cafe racer build. In this episode, I attempt to replace the mechanical seal, not working to plan, but got there in the end. Also replacing the stock stator to a purely 12V setup to be used with lithium Iron battery, moto gadget set up and the Rae san hall effect ignition. ▶️
For my Rae.San 12V conversion ignition, I am using
Dynatek ignition coil single plug fire 3 OHM DC3-1
    Caltric Stator ST340
    MOSFET regulator.
This will make it the latest and run a 12Vtai sys, ie m-unit.

The Left and the Right pick-ups are often mistaken for. You have to look from the back to the front of the engine. The other way around then Left = Right and Right is Left. So that's the mistery resolved I guess (did it wrong myself ;-)) Where did you find the new neutral switch may I ask?

Can you share tips on how you smashed out the ceramic portion of the right hand pickup? If you remember? I’ve been attacking it with a Dremel, drill, and other barbaric methods but am not getting very far. Was this how you did it?

After a lot of smashing I finally got it. But can you explain why we only need one pickup? I’m following your exact upgrades/steps but do not fully understand the “why” behind this.

Evening Ian, I have to admit that you convinced me to change the stock CDI over to Rea-San 12V. It was not part of the plan but I guess it is better that way rather than to have to do things all over again after closing the back hood of the engine ;-) Looking at Rea-San site ordering store one can choose for the dwell. Should that be standard 5ms?
In addition you choose for Caltric stator. Is this the ST340? And this made me curiuos what RegRec did you choose to go with the stator or is this still in the progress? Best regards, Anton

@@carlosgooglemaps94 Welcome, the fitment was very good, especially the rubber grommet for the loom makes the finish very tidy, no need for a blob of sealant.
