    Sale of equity shares and equity-related instruments like units of a mutual fund.
    Holding period more than 1 year.
    Particulars Amount
    Sales price 100
    Less: Brokerage on sales .20
    Net sales price 99.80
    Purchase price 80
    + add brokerage on purchase 0.20
    Total purchase price 80.20
    Capital Gain 99.80 less 80.20 =19.6
    Indexation is not available for shares and mutual funds
    STT paid is not deducted from sales value, and it is not added in purchase value.
    Brokerage, Transaction fees, GST etc. on sales : DEDUCT from SALES PRICE
    Brokerage Transaction fees, GST etc on purchase: ADD in purchase price
    Chapter VI A deductions like 80C deductions cannot be deducted from long term capital gain and short term capital gainon shares.
    Rebate u/s 87A is is also not allowed for long term capital gains.
    Rebate u/s 87A is allowed for short term capital gains.

    Sir I have purchase some share resident demat account and now I am NRE resident. So what is taxation on long term gain. Please??
