  • • • What is the process working with Pennylane?
Our process is simple. This is what it looks like:
    • Discovery Call
    • Purpose of Video
    • Style of Video
    • Messaging
    • Proposal
    • Timeline
    • Production + Delivery
    Discovery Call
The discovery call is our initial meeting for Pennylane to understand what you are looking to accomplish with video and see if there is a good fit between us to move to the next step. This is usually followed by a scoping call which allows us to look at particular factors to get an rough estimate of costs.
    Purpose of Video
Determining the purpose of the video is key. One mistake many clients make is that they try to create multipurpose videos instead of focusing on the core goal of the video. Success comes when the video has a target audience with a core message. It's ok to make many shorter videos vs. one long video.
    Style of Video
There are many styles to choose from. Some of the more popular styles are scripted style, interview style and animation style. We can help guide you as to what the pros and cons are of each.
    Messaging
Messaging is the heart of every video. Without good messaging, nothing else matters. Too much messaging and you lose the audience. Too little detail and you lose trust. There is a balance to get the right messaging in the right amount of time. A simple exercise is to envision your video finished first, then write down the bullet points of every thing someone would learn after watching the video.
    Proposal
It's usually not that simple to estimate costs immediately. There are many factors that affect cost including:
    • Crew Size
    • Time
    • Location(s)
    • People Involved
    • Type of Footage
    • Client Availability
    • Production Quality
    • And more...
Once we gather enough information during the discovery call and/or scoping call, we can share an accurate proposal or number of options.
    Timeline
This can include not only the deadline or due date, but also when each stage of the production may take place and for how long. We can also create a detailed timeline of production days with real-life gaps built in to stay on schedule.
    Production + Delivery
Once we have the intel and schedule the production, it's time to hit the main stages of production:
    • Pre-Production (Planning)
    • Production (Filming)
    • Post-Production (Editing)
    • Revisions (Client Review)
    • Final Delivery
