    i brew kombucha in a 12 liter jar and as soon as that is ready i drain 9 liters out and refill it , so the scoby gets pretty big after a while , sometimes about 10 inches diameter by 1 inch thick with a few layers, so i just remove the top layer and put them in a container in the fridge . Then every morning i cut a piece of scoby about 2 inches square and put it in my smoothy , i think thats the healthiest way to use it

    I have no clue about so much of this stuff,, making and drinking these fermented drinks.. However I did make 1 jar of Apple Cider vinegar a few years ago. LOL I was afraid to drink it , thought maybe I might poison myself. it sat in my fridge for almost two years and a lady I meant said well if you are not going to drink it , can I have it. I said really you would trust it.. She said yes so I started using it.. I am still here so I guess it was ok. haha

    Keeping kombucha at home is like having a pet you that forces you to drink sugar and caffeine every day.

      I use a lot of rooibos in my first ferment, so not a ton of caffeine, and I let it ferment until it's very little sweetness in flavor, so I'm good with this "pet" of ours :)

    I had a small jar of apple cider a vinegar and it formed a mother or scoby? I don't like kombucha so I'm not sure what to do with it. I think I'm gonna give it to my secret santa cos she's all about healthy food haha.

    How long does it take your kombucha to ferment in winter?

    • @MichelleVisser
      @MichelleVisser  Год назад

      There are so many variables, this answer can definitely vary, but it definitely takes longer than in summer (unless your home is cooler in the summer, with air conditioning). On average I find it can take 4-5 days longer when the temps in the kitchen are cooler.

    How are your chickens protected from predators?

      Mainly with their rooster. He is a pretty good protector and ushers them to safety when needed.

      @@MichelleVisser Don’t worry about Chris… He lives in a very VERY small world. Couldn’t ferment anything if he tried. Trust me! He doesn’t have the attention span.
