I am impressed with the tool, however, converting it into a software will be a game-changer. It will significantly enhance its speed. The ability to import and export data in an easier and more efficient manner will be a huge benefit. Well done on the great work so far.
I'm looking for something that does the exact opposite :)) my 3d mesh is lower poly but the 3dsoftware applies smoothing on the object so when adding it into Chitubox the piece looks all blocky and you can see the polygons
hey this is great but the decimated mesh is slightly tilted ..so any way i can exactly export without change in position (ik its a negligible change in position but for baking high poly into this those position change will effect ) but yeah thanks for this great tool
I have a file starting with over 1 million triangles. I have it set to decimate to 50% and it did so successfully. Unfortunately the "Export STL" button seems completely useless. It will not export. Thoughts?
Huh. Thats a strange one. Can you try exporting without decimating to see what happens? That’s usually a flag from Chrome when you click too many times and it blocks multiple downloads. Do you see an error near the URL?

This is a great question, and it's a long answer. Short version: No, not easily in this software. Autodesk used to make a software called "Slicer" that would do this, but I don't think it's still around. Cool idea, might be worth checking out at some point!
@@AndrewSink I have noticed that Prusa slicer can reduce the triangles by "simplify model". And it is great. Not exactly what I had in mind, but it helps. There was a time when I dabbled in Zbrush, but the learning curve to sculpt was crazy for me. And I didn't have the free time. Make 123D doesn't work either these days. The low poly models on Etsy are nice, but I don't have that kind of budget(live in South Africa, and our currency is weak against the dollar, Canadian dollar, Australian dollar and Euro. Lol, come to think of it, pretty much every other currency 🤦🏻) Thank you for your reply though. I'll try and post a link to a horse head that I would like...
@@AndrewSink so I had a modeler do a photogrammetry model for me and I don't actually have a 3D programme, BUT I had him export an STL for me and it worked an absolute charm! I was trying to show potential for bringing "digital twins" of high quality real world object photogrammetry scans into "the metaverse" and was able to finish the slide I was working on thanks to you. Thank you!
Hey andrew I have a file that is not working in the low poly maker. I've tried other files and they work. I tried switching browsers and that doesn't work either. The first decimate works but only til 80% but then it no longer works.

Any tips for taking an obj or usdz to low poly (for someone who hasn't used blender before)?
Where is the OBJ originating from? Can you export an STL?

Can you give me some more detail on the problem? Can you try clicking “Decimate” twice?
it stops around 21k-22k

@@AndrewSink Yeah i tried that but it still didnt work. The work around I found was saving the model and loading the new file into it.
