I know what you are talking about. I'm 70 this year and I had tinnitus all my life. I thought it was normal and like this for everyone. Only when I was around 40 I discovered it was NOT normal. So I'm pretty used to it, except that now in my older years it's gradually getting worse. My hearing has been a problem all my life and that is get worse too.
But the worst is that I have Tuba Aperta, only found that out very recently!!!!
And this thing is ruining my life right now.
Let me explain: all my life, the eardrums of both my ears constantly pop. It's that popping that 'normal' people experience when they are flying and reaching a certain height to which their ears have to adjust. Guess what: my eardrums have been doing that all my life too and that is supposedly a symptom of Tuba Aperta (constant open Eustachian tube). It has always been easy to reset and control to a tolerable level. Until a couple of years ago.Old age I suppose.
To make the story short now: tuba aperta is pretty unknown and all therapies are experimental. But the constant popping of my eardrums aggravates the tinnitus and then my head is ONE BIG CHAOS. It's driving me crazy.
I had the first surgery a month ago: cartilage is put behind the eardrum to keep it in its place.
Operation no success, symptoms worse. So I revisited the specialist, explained and told him there will have to be one more and final surgery: complete elimination of the right ear! (that's that villain ear) I will not be hearing anything with my right ear, but the hearing now is already close to nothing. I am done with it and gladly give up that darned pest ear!
So now I'm just waiting for the exact date of that operation, hopefully in August.

I have the exact same problem. It's a lot louder after a nap. I've had it bad for the past 35 or 40 years. When I was very young I could only here the ringing when I was in a quiet room. No one listened to me, so I quit saying anything about it. When I was working a few years ago, I had got to the point I could control it as far as focusing on something. But, a guy I was working with. One day on break I was feeling bad. I had my head down and already told him. He had got up to get a soda, came up behind me and yelled in my right ear so loud I actually lost hearing in both ears for a few seconds. I no have no control over my tinnitus.

When I get up and move around awhile it lessens. I remember having tinnitus as a kid but nowhere near like I have now...I had some real issues with my neck when it started. Arthritis, and probably some compression from aging.

I got tinnitus after a dentist numbing injection. My throat that night got very swollen and painful. While it eventually - after few days got normalized, my tinnitus never went away. The dentist said it has nothing to do with the shot, but I did my research and found out that I am not the only one who got tinnitus after a dentist procedure. Other people report getting tinnitus after surgery waking up from a full body anesthesia that also never went away. Medical literature suggest that it may not be the damage just to the ear - but a neurological damage to the hearing center in the brain. I believe that is the reason why I had not found any testimony of someone who truly reversed tinnitus.

WIFI frequencies are everywhere these days and I believe this is causing ringing in the ears. Each day that comes my ears ring at different levels. I was a radio technician for close to 40 years. Worked on various two way radio systems for vehicles and aircraft. I can truly say that it is physically impossible for any form of radio frequency to be heard by the human ear. Not radio, tv, wifi, 2g,3g,4g or even 5g. The frequencies are simply too high. The most that could happen is you could get radiation burns from touching the antennae, but then the transmitter needs to be around 25 Watts or so. That is far above the output rating of a cellphone or home wifi transmitter.

I had a broken tooth 5 years ago that my dentist tried to save. I think it leaked, was permanently unusable and infected, and I couldn't chew on it. After 2 years I developed actinoimycosis and almost died. The bacteria have spread from the tooth to the cervical area and the back of the torax. The doctors didn't immediately know what was going on at the time. But before the infection became fulminant, I developed tinnitus. But I thought it was stress. To everyone who has tinnitus: always have your dental appliance checked by a good dentist, remove all dead teeth from your mouth, remove anything that is amalgam and also remove anything that is metal. For me, everything is slowly healing, tinnitus is slowly disappearing... All the best for everyone!

I had a similar experience. Tried to save a dead tooth. One dentist advised it should be removed for the reason you mention. Two others felt it was saving. Of course they would. It's about money. Long story short, I had a number of problems and eventually had to have it removed. Felt so much better. Never looked back. I suffer from Tinnitus but I can concur with Barbara on diet. I noticed it got worse if I ate chocolate. Dairy products are definitely not good. Even toast can cause problems. I have also found that neck exercises with a foam roller (originally for my back) relieves tension and I can often feel the synuses open which helps to minimise the tinnitus. It's trial and error but much more manageable now. Understanding the problem is half the battle.

It can actually have to do with an infection in the brain or damage to the brain. I had it so severely after getting a bad tick bite that had diseases which went to my brain. There was so much swelling and inflammation in my brain that one time I can remember hearing up to very different and loud sounds. None of this was on the outside of my ears. There are viruses that specifically target the brain and cause all kinds of problems including tinnitus.

Shouldn't it be the device asking for a WiFi and then the later answering? He said: That is how it is programmed. 1) He never asked me how I knew its 5 sec intervals, he never asked why I can feel his mobile phone 10 cm behind me without looking. So many medications can cause tinnitus and still a lot of people don't know about it. I did my research because I suffer from it, and I found that a lot of blood pressure medications and some heart medications like betablockers also causes tinnitus. I am taking Lisinopril, and Metoprolol and both of them are on the list of medications that cause tinnitus. You will be surprise on how many OTC medications can cause it, like ibuprofen, Tylenol, etc. I suggest every body to google the medications you are taking on a daily basis and see if they cause the ringing in the ears. Maybe it can be change to another medication.

Tinnitus is from damaging of the audio center of the brain. Ears get damaged from loud noise and can’t repair easily, then the brain tries to correct it and can’t properly fill in the lost frequencies and is confused. It takes a few years for the brain to figure it out, but it’s gotten better for me. 2 years in and most of the time I don’t hear ringing at all. Maybe in another 2 years I won’t ever hear it.
I don’t think herbs are going to do too much here, I would recommend a japanese diet, it’s worked for me. The brain needs animal fats to build and stem cells to repair the ears. Salmon and matcha tea are massively powerful for this 🧠. Salmon has the fats and matcha activates stem cell production.

I got tinnitus from a head injury. You can not notice it sometimes because you manage to be distracted. I think had I not ever noticed it to begin with that I would never have the problem. After finishing my walk home, after being pulled down and hitting my head which knocked me out for a few seconds, I was thinking about the damage done and feeling the lump on my head. I truly think that had I chosen not to pay close attention, I would not have tinnitus. I've had it for around 10 years now.

    Hello Dr O'Neill
    May I ask your wisdom on the "attitude" cause of disease? Louise Hay says the attitudes causing tinnitus are;
    1. Refusal to listen.
    2. Not hearing the inner voice.
    3. Stubbornness
Now at 6 months older than you, after 65 years of trying to do natural health, I accept "Power of the Mind" as one of nature's seven doctors.
It is interesting to note that a medical doctor who was also an osteopath, advised me to buy "You Can Heal Your Life" by Louise Hay instead of coming back to see him.
Thank you for your illuminating presentations.

My earliest experience with tinnitus was I had bouts of hay fever/sinus I sneezed my eyes watered, brain fog & tinnitus, but the tinnitus went away, I ate ice cream & drank milk. Then years later I ate a packet of chocolate biscuits & my ears rang, but stopped after a while. In my 60’s I started to be hard of hearing, possibly wax, I got T (tinnitus) then, but this time it didn’t go away, so I got my ears suctioned, BIG mistake it go worse. Then I went to Thailand to get implants put in 8 hour operation building up my jaw bone, I felt dizzy & my anxiety was through the roof & my T was BAD, it took me 4 years to get better (still not 💯) the T & anxiety were shocking nausea, dizziness, severe brain fog, neck tension.. my T is still there but I try not to react to it emotionally.. meditation helped & deep breathing.. some days it’s bad others not so bad.. I did want to kill my self at one stage.. but I’m coping now.

I think Dr Barbara needs to warn people about how bad it burns to snort goldenseal into the nose. It’s very uncomfortable! I would recommend buy a squeezer nasal drops bottle and maybe starting with a weak tea of it and a tiny salt and a tiny garlic in the tea.

Yeah, it can burn. I think I will try a more gentle snort like she suggests. BTW, she doesn’t like to be called doctor because she isn’t. That is from false people.. Another BTW, your suggestion sounds good also!

I had my wisdom teeth extracted and the dentist numbed me up a lot. Had to numb me twice because it wasn’t enough the first time. Then they put me under. When I woke up my tinnitus was gone. I was amazed at how quiet it was. It came back a few hours later as feeling returned to my face.

I don't hear the ringing in my head unless I think about it. It is a very high frequency sound that doesn't vary. Mine comes from working in a power plant and listening to the very loud engines. Also, I used to shoot high powered pistols. It was not my pistol but the guy next to me using the very high powered gun that caused tinnitus. The main problem for me is that the sound masks very low sounds and causes problems understanding some people's conversation because I don't hear all the slight syllables.

I’ve had mine since an accident in 2019. I fell mt biking and had ACL surgery. Ended up with a bulged disc in my neck and tenitis a month after surgery. It was hard for me to pinpoint the cause with so much going on. Anesthesia? Neck injury? Covid? Age? Sugar? Ah my daughter picked up baking in the pandemic. Could be so many things.

sat next to the speakers when they where playing music, I would often leave, but I lowered my immune system by smoking, the noise lasted 1 week loud and it went less and less but still I can hear it right now, even at low levels, it took years, for months when I first got it, I had to listen to music to stop hearing it. coffee helps me the best. I didn't get hearing loss but I dislike the noice it causes.

Sometimes sickness can be healed from God's herbs but sometimes if it doesnt get better it may be an attack from the enemy. I dont know if you are a Christian or not but sometimes Satan physically attacks us. If it is an attack rebuke Satan in the name of Jesus christ if Nazareth and Pray that Jesus delivers from this attack.

Without knowing it, I slept for 4 years 30 cm away from my neighbours WiFi, almost frying my brain. After a job loss that made me sick and a lazy girlfriend I had a severe Tinnitus. Also Candida albicans oraly. Went to over 4 ENT specialists saying that it cant be because of WiFi or even Candida albicans ...😂 useless doctors told me to visit a Psyciatrist as they thought I am crazy. Took me 6 years to cure it by food change, exercise and energetical healings. Still have problems with ear infections due to ear pods and Candida which I now fight back with herbs but ultimately have to stop coffee!
