living about 2 and a half hours from dorney, i think that this is a great coaster for the park. hopefully more investment is put into the park because dorney park is one of the best parks in terms of atmosphere. also the inclined loop is such a cool element we need more of those in the world
As someone who lives 30 minutes away from the park, I couldn’t of asked for anything more! We waited so long for a new roller coaster and this did not disappoint at all! I can’t wait to ride it next year!!!
I would have preferred the gravity group shuttle with the inversion, but the B&M Dive is the smarter choice and I really like the extra theming and the tunnel for the train ride 👍
Definitely an exciting time. Dorney has been overdue for a brand new coaster. Thinking big picture, the industry as a whole is thriving and shaking off the impact from the pandemic. HersheyPark added Wildcat’s Revenge, Dorney Park just announcing Iron Menace , and Great Adventure teasing something for their 50th anniversary next year. I enjoy visiting all 3 parks
The one thing that could have made Iron Menace better is an extra turn and airtime pop behind the train's tunnel. That would make it about as long as Emperor or Cliffhanger. As is, it might not be as good as Emperor but should beat out Cliffhanger without the MCBR. Excited to see the queue theming and how that translates to merch. Hopefully Cedar Fair is considering a Mack Big Dipper or Vekoma Shockwave for Dorney a few years down the road!
I have been happy with the idea of a dive for a bit now so I'm good with it. I'm also happy to see the forth inversion. Was a little scared that it would be three and done. So, being a local I bought our season ticket renewals that give ride event access soon as I could today. Teaching my daughters to love roller coasters as much as I do is priceless. Would love a new coaster every 6-7 years! We can dream. I`m close to a lot of coasters here in Pa.
I liked how Carowinds did their capital before 2020 (which is a coaster every 4-5 years) because that gives them time to improve the park like new rides, something to their water park and some improvements
I would totally agree with you about parks adding a roller coaster every 4-5 years apart so they can give it time to see how things go and to improve the parks
Dorney has such potential if it takes care of its rides after installing this. Iron Menace CAN NOT be a bandaid ride, and then left to carry the park for another two decades like Hydra had to. I hope that a ride similar in size to Twisted Cyclone can be built, so Dorney can have a “Twisted Timbers” counterpart to Kings Dominion in VA, and additionally play off the “Haunted Steel Mill” idea that Iron Menace plans to use.
This will be a great addition to Dorney. The only thing I would have liked is to have some elements going through some steel stacks or something, but it's Cedar Fair, it's really fine even without additional theming. The station looks pretty good in the renderings though. Well done Dorney.
Love how B&M designed a tilted loop, keeping Yukon Striker's vertical loop inclusive. Side-note: From all the animations of this and actual real Pov's of Dr. Diabolical's Cliffhanger, I don't be see the 95 degree drop seemingly being any steeper than Yukon Striker's 90 degree?
I can’t believe there’s going to be a B&M dive about 40 mins from doorstep to the Dorney Parking lot!!! Even though it looks comparatively small to Sheikra or Valraven this thing looks like it’s going to pack a punch!!!
I suggest that enthusiasts lower expectations for Dorney Park due to limited space and township regulations. It's a mini-Cedar Point. On the flip side, Iron Menace is an excellent addition to the park.
B&M have been killing it lately with their smaller models. I hope they release a fly model for smaller parks too. I think this will rank a solid 2nd in the park's lineup. It's a good investment.
To be fair, Dorney Park has never been about 'breaking records' and having a new coaster in a park every 4-5 years is not really feasible for all parks and never has been. That seems a little unrealistic as much as enthusiasts would love to see that happen...
Maybe they're doing both. Maybe the shuttle coaster is still on the horizon, just not announced yet. Like you said, you think they're putting more into Dorney soon so maybe that coaster is also still in the works.
Iron Menace gives me the vibe of Shockwave at Drayton Manor if you convert it to a dive coasters. Both layouts essentially starts with a drop, followed by 4 back to back inversions, and a single turn into the brakes.
My home park is Kennywood obviously lol, so I don’t like this addition because I wanted Kennywood to get one that dove off the cliff, but for Dorney this is a massive win, (plus cp already has valravn so my wet dreams will probably not come true)
People are hoping the lower cedar fair parks start getting rides and coasters but unfortunately I heard that Cedar Fair is looking to specifically put big investments into Dorney Park because of its market area and try to get it closer to one of their tier 1 parks. I don’t know if VF or MA will be getting this treatment.
Valreyvn,Yukon Striker,and SheikRa........make this look like a kiddie ride. Yukon Striker has that curve at the top and it's 245 feet tall with a top speed of 80 mph,and a 90 degree vertical angle
A perfect next addition for Dorney Park after Iron Menace would be a revival of Laser but as a launch coaster, it could even be made by Vekoma since they're now working with Vekoma again.
One thing I like about a new roller coaster announcement sometimes is that it's taking up an empty space previously occupied by a long removed attraction. In this case, it's going where Stinger used to sit. There were once rumors of a Gravity Group wooden shuttle coaster coming here instead. Maybe that could be built after this and placed where Dinosaurs Alive used to sit.
So a mini dive coaster like we thought....I guess for Dorney that is great. Possessed is still better. This will definitely be better than that Magnum clone tho😂😂😂
I never understood people's fascination with dive coasters. They are all so very similar. I feel like if you ridden one you've ridden the all. The lift hill and around the turn at the top feel longer than the ride. Taking out the turn might make it a little better. I just never understood having a mid-course break on such short rides. Dive coasters just don't get me excited.
This fits right in with Dorney's coaster collection and should be a hit. Dive machines don't do much for me so I'd much rather have the wooden coaster in the Stinger plot. Hopefully a wooden coaster is added in the near future.

Ill be heading there next summer for the first time. Sometime in mid august. Not only are they getting a new coaster, but the Vekoma family boomerang coming to KI was straight out of left field.
My only complaint is the color. With Talon there already, I'm shocked to see another orange coaster. What's up with Cedar Fair obligatorily making orange dive machines, and blue giga coasters?
Wait and see how those orange & gray colors fit right in with the planned theming. It will all make sense with the abandoned steel mill backstory of Iron Menace and additional structure enhancements not shown in the basic videos.
I'm very happy they're getting a new roller coaster. Unfortunately, however, I disagree that this will be the start of getting more newer things. I live about 15 minutes from Dorney Park and my understanding is that Cedar Fair has been trying to do additions in the past, several years, but Whitehall Township is very strict and reject most of the proposals. The only reason why this one got approved was because it's a replacement, not an expansion and they have something in the track that reduces sound because neighboring residents often complain about noise from the park. I don't see Whitehall Township changing their attitude towards Dorney Park, but excited that we are getting something new.😊

The straightaway drop is the most notable element concerning the two coasters. All dive coasters that invert starts with an immelmann. The second inversion (zero-G roll) isn't uncommon on a dive machine.

I'm from the Baltimore region, but usually visit Dorney Park a time or two annually. As for why they don't open early, my guess is that this park's biggest draw is their water park. In recent visits the last few years, I've arrived to find the parking lot filled, but every major coaster to be a walk on, or at worst, a station wait. I'm guessing if they open earlier, they know they're going to have sparse crowds at best.
I’m sorry but Dorney is no fun. 2005 last new coaster says it all. My kids grew up there I can’t go anymore. I live local. The other cedar fair parks are so much better go check them out

As much as I would love the Gravity Group Shuttle coaster, I think that the B&M Dive Coaster is a perfect addition for Dorney Park.

I’m very satisfied IRON MENACE is coming instead of the GG Shuttle coaster, who knows maybe that project could be for another Cedar Fair park 🤷🏾♂️

I think this looks great. I would've loved to see a tunnel, whether themed or underground. That said, I am stoked for this.

U R wrong. CF just hasn’t invested in DP because they’ve been digging themselves out of the Paramount hole, then into Covid.

I love the spot I live in. 1 hour to sfga, 1.5 hour to hershey, 55 minutes to Dorney, and less than 2.5 hours to Knoebels 🥰🎢😄
