Love the looks and ride of the super meteor, my favorite color scheme is the interstellar green. Would like to park one alongside my black 2021 Himmy. Just did the cam upgrade and loving the difference. Tried getting the cam down here in South America and it was such a pain that my son in the states just bought one from Baxter cycle and brought it down to me. So I am running a Kent cam from Baxter cycle and loving it in the Andes mountains. A big hola and thanks to the folks at Baxter cycle for making my Colombian mountain climbing a whole lot more fun.
Thanks for a good summary of the Super M 650. I got the Int 650 and liked it so well I ended up getting a Cont. GT 650 to keep it company. Recent changes I've made are 16 tooth (up from factory 15) front sprocket and RE's new tubeless alloy wheels. RE got this engine right: 4 valves per cylinder, SOC with adjuster nuts (no shims), 270 degree crank, 6 speed trans. I love it!
I got to ride those roads around your little town when I got mine from Baxter Cycles, what an amazing place. I will be trying to catch up to you in miles this winter. Florida is awesome this time of year. Love my SM.
I found an after market airfilter helped the performance. Only issue i had was the chain wasnt great, i replaced it with a slightly heavier one. Everything else is fine, it is more than enough. Fuel is hitting 70mpg too
@@thefuzzybiker171 yeah same, the stick chain is a bit weak. No biggie tho bike is flawless otherwise. Incredible value, always starts, never any issues.
The "they are junk " war cry is because people equate price with quality. And let's be honest, we all know some expensive machines that have had terrible reliability issues. Enfields are not high-tech, but neither are they put together poorly. Had my little 350 classic for 2 trouble-free years. They full of character . CEAT are a sub of Perelli and Imho l for the performance of the bikes they are fine. Happy riding Fuzzy. Lee👍
These comments are made by Weekend Warriors who rarely ride a bike but throw an opinion every other day of the week. As you mentioned, there might be some issues with these bikes but they are put together pretty well and have come a long way for sure.
I've owned dozens of motorcycle over the years. I'd put a modern Royal Enfield up against any brand for reliability. New bikes have a 3 year unlimited mile warranty!
Royal-Enfield's are being built in a state of the art facility I saw showcased here. Someone did an oil quality test were they remove the lubricant the bike is shipped with. Royal-Enfield had the least contaminants by far while Ducati and the Chinese bikes had the worst!
I enjoyed your review very much as I am currently exploring the purchase of a SM. The forward controls are a concern for me and I was wondering if you have used mid-pegs as an aid to the forward controls? I know they’re available but are they worth the effort and do they help or hinder overall? (Anyone?) Thanks brother! Thanks for taking us along for all those miles you rack up!!
Would love to install the mid peg kit while keeping the forward controls. I don't see any problems with this. Baxter Cycle did install full mid controls without the forward controls on a Super Meteor. I did a video no it. That bike was great. Wahoo!
Hi man, you are the first one who clearly say that tripper is useless when everybody has a phone or navigation on the handlebars. I already replace the tripper by a small tachometer T&T purchased from Louis. The diameter is almost identical with tripper, and the plastic base of tripper needs only few adaptations and can be used for the tacho. The scale range is 8000 rpm, which prefetly fits with this engine (they have also a tacho with a range to 12 000 rpm, be careful). Tachometer enable to use the whole range of revolutions the best way and not to ride it like a chopper only ;-) ... Good luck!
I have not had s pillion on this bike. I do own the Himalayan 450 and the Classic 350, both do well with a pillion. Friend of mine rode two up from Iowa all through the Colorado mountains and back, including Interstate speeds, without any issue. I'm sure the Super Meteor would do the same or more. Wahoo!
I really like this bike, I had the opportunity to try it once ! But for my next bike I wonder if I should get this one or a mid size trail for the all aroundness and the twisties/urban riding... I'm not sure if I'd like the forward controls in the long run.
The chain system works very well. Am sure the advantages of the belt system are good but not sure if it's worth the money to me. Would love to try it, for sure!
Have you thought about changing the sprocket and chain to belt drive? Teacher T in Thailand changed his to belt drive, he friend made a belt drive system for him.
I've had belt drive bikes and they do have great benefits. However, I am happy with this chain drive system. If they sent me a system to try I would install it and do a long term review.
I wonder how it feels at 70 mph? Rode some RE, but never this one. To be honest they nailed the look. How much you had to pay additionally for that seat? Thanks a lot. Take care.
Very stable at 70 mph and up. Great riding machine. Don't remember what the seat itself ran. Think the seat with the backrest was about $300. I installed it myself
Hi Fuzzy Biker, I am hoping you see this comment. This is my situation, I am a student looking for a cool bike to move around. I actually think this one is pretty cool, I am just worried about maintenance. Do you happen to know how expensive it is to keep up with it? I would appreciate any other advice you could give me, you seem like the type of guy to ask. Thanks for your video too, it was very informative!!
The Super Meteor is a simple bike to maintain. However, dealers may still charge a lot for simple work. I'd ask in advance how much the valve adjustments & oil changes will cost at your local dealer. If you are mechanically inclined you could do this work yourself. The bike is very simple to work on and the tools required are few and low cost. I usually do my own maintenance. Wahoo!
Good film. I ride an RT which is just brilliant, but if I was ever to get a second road bike I'd like to try the Super Meteor. Best wishes from North Wales.
I ride a meteor now and difference between royal a few years ago and now is quality, the new bikes are very reliable and fuel efficient, the bullet from a few years ago would just fall to bits from new , I had one and just gave up with the terrible constant breakdowns . New bikes are great, it took mine on a 1000 mile trip from Watford to Devon and Cornwall and no problems at all and mine is only a 350 not big boy shown here . Ignore what the snotty magazines say Enfield is smashing the market with great bikes 👍
I've done some rain but not on very curvy roads. The bike does handle well. Maybe add some better tires for the wet. Would be a good commuter and I do use mine as a touring bike. Wahoo!
Enjoyed the video Fuzzy!. I'm considering buying this motorcycle and was curious how it holds up cruising at 75 mph or more on highways with the cross winds and all...
I have just come back from riding around 400 miles on my SM 650 and it performed brilliantly. There is buffeting, naturally, but it wasn't too much for me. I do think that if I did ride a lot on the motorways though, I'd look at a screen as I think over time the buffeting would become annoying. Amazing bike though, kept up no issue with my friends on bigger Enduro bikes.
I did cross Nebraska in both directions on this bike, speeds of 80-90 mph. While going West I had a strong South wind to deal with. It was a fight but the bike did it well. On the ride home I crossed every mile of Nebraska, 454 miles, at 80-90 mph without problem of any kind. This kind of riding is one of the reasons I purchased this motorcycle. Wahoo!
Great Video Fuzzy. I have a full cart of Super Meteor accessories in my Baxter Motorcycle cart and I wanted to see if you could share a coupon code for check out!

The bike itself is not too bad. But Royal Enfield really messed up with the turn by turn direction device. Every time I run the app, it insists that I create a new account with a new phone number. Hepco & Becker. We had to work to make it fit
