Mo - Excellent video. I'm in commercial solar over in sunny Florida & I hear about Texas solar every day. I love the Tesla roof, Powerwalls, Tesla Virtual Power Plant - All spot on. You're my hero man, mini Elon. Keep up the excellent work!
Likewise!! Thank you so much! It’s great to hear from someone in the solar industry, especially from sunny Florida! The Tesla roof and Powerwalls have been game-changers for us. I appreciate the kind words!
I had the Tesla roof installed over 3 years ago , the best part was the $50k cost on a 3000 sq ft house (Tesla has significantly raised prices) and the two power walls it came with. The downside is the amount of energy it produces but by far the biggest downside is that you really cannot get up on the roof because of the glass surface, it is very slippery, don’t even think about getting on the roof if there is any moisture. If you are painting the house or doing any maintenance, you really need a harness, a pair of Vans skateboarder shoes with the sticky soles are a good idea also.
Can’t put a number on peace of mind and convenience.. no one buys a generator asking when it pays for itself.. But if you look at strictly the solar roof cost without batteries and SPAN.. the payback period is ~17 years if you consider a 3% escalation in electricity prices annually.. and the payback drops ~2 years every time I avoid having to pay a deductible because of a totaled asphalt shingle roof from a hail storm.. the average lifespan of a roof in north Texas is 7-10 years, so it may have the potential to be closer to 13 years.. I guess only time will tell, I won’t be crunching the numbers though, I’ll be enjoying the peace of mind from not having to worry about rising electricity rates and power outages.
A great job with the details, including pricing. Bold move, very helpful for shoppers. As a Tesla Solar Roof customer in Connecticut with very high electric rates, it was interesting to compare and contrast my install with yours.
Awesome and informative video. Got a few questions. What impact to home insurance premium including replacement costs due to weather like hailstorm ? Home resale value with solar roof ?
We just had to replace an asphalt roof under solar panned. The off-on charges were more than the roof replacement. Solar roof can replace individual tiles when needed.
Is it possible to say keep the existing shingles on the north side of the house and only install Tesla tiles (both powered and not) on the south side? Or is that just not possible from a leaks perspective? Just looking at ways to save on the initial outlay. Thanks!
Great question! While it might be tempting to only install Tesla Solar Roof tiles on one side to save costs, we typically install the Solar Roof as a complete system across the entire roof to ensure proper waterproofing and durability. Mixing different roofing materials, like keeping shingles on one side, could increase the risk of leaks and complicate warranties. It's best to go with a full installation for long-term reliability. Hope that helps! Also, check this video out; it might help answer your question more: ruclips.net/video/QIl4ckZExq4/видео.htmlsi=aoeEEuUV9bYWo1X1
@@GoodFaithEnergy thanks. Agree but man, wouldn’t it be great to get under 100k? Seems like they could find a way to only put it in places where it was needed - for example on one wing of a second story that shares no segments with another, shingled part of the roof.
The two things this video taught me is, A: I want solar. B: I will never ever ever live somewhere with a freaking HoA. No one who is not making the payments on my property should have any say so in what I do with my property
No baseball sized hail at my house, but we do have a video on our channel showing the aftermath of a solar roof that got hit with baseball sized hail. Check it out and subscribe to the channel if you haven’t already 😊
When getting a solar roof from tesla do they give you at least 2 or 3 different 3rd party providers like yourself to get quotes from or do they just assign you someone? Is there a way to "shop around" whats the best way to approach this. Btw thanks for the super educational content
You’re very welcome. Tesla has a certified installer portal where you can punch in your address and find multiple companies (depending on where you live) that can assist you with getting multiple quotes. Hopefully that helps!
Thanks for sharing your experience. Pricing can definitely vary depending on the location and project specifics. We know it's a significant investment, but for some, the long-term benefits make it worthwhile. Hopefully, as technology advances, we'll see more accessible pricing in the future!
Do you do "Virtual assessments"? I'd like a "Expert" opinion from someone who doesn't have a dog in the fight. I'm trying to find balance on $ spent Vs R.O.I.
Tesla REALLY needs to monitor these “authorized installer” companies. Just received an estimate in FL for 2,400 sq ft 15 kW system - $158,000…. WITHOUT any Powerwalls To quote Elon: “GFY!” Tesla needs to stop working with these unethical roofing companies if they want their product adopted.
Solar roof is a premium product. Not for everyone, and the margins aren’t as good as other roofing materials. Tesla is no longer installing solar roofs because of the install challenges they pose. Sorry you think we’re all unethical, but that’s simply untrue, and many of us are busting our tails to deploy this product with very little financial gain. With that said, the price you received for your solar roof does seem about 10-15% high, but it’s impossible to know without knowing your roofs complexity and existing materials.
Very nice. Yeah, HOA's sure do want to control everything. Glad you pushed back. System looks great. Proud to be a Good Faith customer. Love my Solar.
Likewise, Paul! Thanks for your continued support of all things GFE.
A rather comprehensive summary, thank you.
PS: House looks grand at the end of the street; you should be proud. Thank you.
Thank you! I’m glad you found the summary helpful. We appreciate the kind words! It’s something we’re definitely proud of!
What a great video! Very cool get insights into your system and the value that it's driving for your family. Thank you for sharing!

What is the payback time for your house area scenario

Any problems with equipment failure, roof issues, or Tesla support frustration?
Good Faith Energy designed, installed, and is currently servicing my solar roof.. I have had no issues with any of the items you mentioned.
Great video! Love all the details! New subscriber here.

Wow.. that’s hardly ever the case.. How many solar panels do you have?
@ we had 36 panels, 11.5kw

Nice video! Was just thinking bout getting a solar roof in ga
It’s a great decision, you won’t regret it!
Good stuff right here
Thanks for tuning in!
Hi, I would like to know a rough price installation per sf.

I’m glad we can agree on both of these points! Solar is awesome, and HOA’s.. 🤢🤢
2:43 That house bill is now part of Texas Property Code, Chapter 202. 🥳
Have you had any baseball sized hail since your roof was installed? Curious to see how durable it is. Thanks.

17:33 Please do a video on V3 vs V3R roofs. 🙏
Absolutely, we are filming one next month!
@GoodFaithEnergy Awesome! Do you service East Texas only or Austin area as well?
@@VishalRaoOnRUclips East Texas and Austin as well

The only thing powerwall need to add is a connection to a generator
You really need a lot more street-driveway views on roofs in videos. Thanks)
Noted!
it's too bad with the current pricing. I was quoted $62,000 for a 9,288 watt solar roof in Phoenix.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Pricing can definitely vary depending on the location and project specifics. We know it's a significant investment, but for some, the long-term benefits make it worthwhile. Hopefully, as technology advances, we'll see more accessible pricing in the future!
Thats a scam
21:34 to see how much it cost

I absolutely DESPISE HOAs. No American should allow their property to be controlled by someone who doesn’t pay the bills!!!
Couldn’t agree more!
Totally agree. I lived with HOA’s once. NEVER again.
Crazy how you have to submit or ask for permission to install or modify YOUR house that YOU paid for. Couldn’t be me
Beautiful home tho
We couldn’t agree more. HOA’s should have zero say in modifications, especially upgrades as nice as Tesla Solar Roof, made to a home.
Try California. Buy rate is .53 cents sell rate is .03 cents. Biggest rip off in history
That’s why energy storage systems like Tesla Powerwall 3 are so important!
